I want to love Xbox as much as PS, but I gotta keep calling out what is missing until they have something I want. Until then, I have no reasons to use my OneX consoles(2), while PS is continually releasing smash hits. But hey, if you’re happy with just Ori and Gears Tactics for this year, that is all you.
Why, because some prefer a finished game worth the full price of admission? F2P is for small up and coming studios trying to grow, not a needed model if your game is amazing or has a budget the size of Halo Infinite’s
Would you ask Tony Hawk to perform 2 900s in a row, or ask to see a 900 and whatever else he’s been working on? I want to see the new sh$t. That’s exactly what was wrong with Assassin’s Creed, same game, small changes, and a new skin(city) every game. I hope to see SP’ passion to create fun games guide them, rather than “popular formulas”.
Undeservingly, AC has always been a better parkour tour of ancient cities than an actual game. Their stories suck and are unfollowable to most casual players, and the combat has never really felt polished. But you’re right, for some reason some AC games have scored higher. Smh
Thank you, somebody had to say it. I believe MS are so low energy they’re turning most their games MMO so they don’t have to make proper sequels anymore. Keep games alive, proper narratives or amazing endings be damned! Halo”Infinite”, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay, Forza”rebooted”, Fable “rebooted”. It all smells of GAAS to me. Watch the next Gears be a Gears “universe” game and not Gears6. That will be the true sign to let us know where MS is steering the ship long term.
Just because Sony makes a better Assassins Creed game than Ubisoft, let’s not go cornering a great studio like SuckerPunch into making only one genre of game. They’ve proven themselves capable of managing existing and new IPs. I say let them do whatever AAA project inspires them most, sit back and enjoy...
And still, not a single Sony Santa Monica,
Sucker Punch, or Naughty Dog caliber exclusive debatably since Halo 3 or Gears of War 3(outside of Forza), a full generation ago. Wish it wasn’t so hard to admit for some that it has indeed been a bit of drought for those looking for those big ARPG experiences from studios with 1st hand knowledge of their hardware
Look at the business model MS is setting up. Halo”infinite”, Forza(dropped the #), SoT, State of Decay. All their largest 1st party games besides Gears(yet), are either currently MMO or are leaning towards an MMO future. Feel free to mark my words now, what is coming to Gamepass 1st party-wise will primarily be GAAS, no need to build true sequels anymore right? I don’t think it’s a coincidence this game is a reboot instead of a sequel. Why reboot it if the first 3 were loved overall? Big MMO ...
Love to see AMD continually gaining market share. Eventually we might get more economic pricing from nvidia from their gpu line-up
Kena looked awesome. The Little Devil Inside looked super charming too.
Don’t forget Demon Souls. That’s a system seller right there for me
They need it! This should have been at their last show if this is some of the best of what MS has at the moment, it’s beautiful, and it’s one Xbox fans will actually get to play relatively soon.
You mean it’s hard to make a good single player game and not an MMO, now that Xbox is propping up gamepass with every game?
Of course not. They won’t have even manufactured 25+ million consoles by spring 2021. But I’d bet Sony is gonna be hard pressed to meet PS5 demand this holiday, coming on the heels of 2 of the generations best games. Great time to be a PS fan.
Both of those games are what excited me most about MS’ recent show too, but super disappointed these 2 in particular are likely 3-4 years out, as long as they’re not released unfinished. Gonna be awhile before the SX is truly warranted
@kingKratos
You beat me to it, Haha. But yea, Witcher3 combat was bad imo
You obviously missed a key part of my message, “so I could see this structure working in this instance” - referring to sports and racing games bud.
Although, I do like the narrative in some years of the NBA2k series. Kinda gives a nice touch of personalization to the game. Also, Mortal Kombat wouldn’t be near as good without its narratives, but it’s just a fighting game...So yea, narratives are great in many genres. Horizon and its Festivals is a kind of narrative to motiva...
Might not be so bad for racing and sports games as rosters and live stats change constantly, so I could this type of structure working in this instance. However, let me ask you this, how many times have you picked a choose your own adventure book (never ending options/endings) over a straight up classic tale? GAAS will give us never ending sandboxes with uninspired narratives, because they’re built to never end. How can a story meant to never end be gripping or have consequences? As opposed ...
Gotta go:
1. Bloodborne
2. God of War
3. LOU2
4. Ghost of Tsushima
5. Spider-Man
No easy calls made here. So many games worth mentioning though. Party on PS!
So top down strategy and side scroller action are the high bar now. Super sad and why I’m uninterested is MS offerings of late. Not that those are bad games, but those are not anywhere near the action I’m looking for
