I wonder if they would have two price points.
$499 - base system
$599 - elite system (more storage)
Only MS knows. ;)
I just never read Kotaku anymore. Not interested in clicking on their site to keep them in business.
Yep as always marketing gets too far ahead of engineering. And then you have to temper expectations. Better to under promise and over deliver than over promise and under deliver.
You may be right in general market terms but I am an exception here. I love PC gaming. But I also love PS4 gaming and would at least consider a PS4 Pro. PS has some great games on it. However, generally for games on both PC and PS4, I typically select the PC title.
These article are so lame. Click bait articles to fuel fanboy console war traffic to their sites. I refuse to click on any such articles whether they are PS or X1 favorable.
No I bought my X1 as Best Buy was practically giving them away some time back and I generally just use it as a streaming media device and bluray player. I had an old console trade-in and It was so cheap it was worth it. I certainly didn't pay full price for it.
Albeit a nice console I am sure, I have no need to buy one myself. I don't have a 4K tv so I will likely wait to upgrade my console till PS5 is ever released.
One of the keys for Scorpio is people having a large investment in games for X1. So drop the price so low to reduce barrier to entry to as low as possible. Then Owners may buy titles for X1 now and perhaps want to upgrade to Scorpio. I own an X1 but have bought only 1 title for it (Red Dead Redemption for X360 back compat). But now that many X1 titles such as Recore) will be on PC, I will just buy it for PC.
I use the HyperX Cloud 2 headset with both PC and PS4. Is very comfortable, well built, and excellent sound. PC has 7.1 surround support. PS4 and X1 is stereo support.
Seems silly this is even an article. Glad I didn't bother clicking on it.
That's marketing for ya. Manipulation is the name of the game. Get that sale regardless of questionable tactics.
I do believe the writer of this review is on the young side and perhaps has not ready much or any of the science fiction genre which Sean Murray said inspired the game. Having read and see the art work in many of those stories, the art style and graphics appear to meet those expectations. I do believe i will pick this game up, luckily at a nice discount for myself. I would say 'see you out in the galaxy' , but I think given the size of the galaxy that may not actually happen.
I thought the game takes place in one galaxy. Not sure why articles keep referring to the 'Universe'. I believe they procedurally generate a galaxy.
Some people believe they have anonymity on the internet and then act extremely poor in ways they would never do face to face. Nearly every thing can be tracked down to the real person. I hope the people levying threats to Sean were dealt with by law enforcement. Very sick to threaten someone's life. Personally I think Sean should have notified police.
@sinjonezp I believe all of the procedural work is one on the PC or PS4. A faster connection should make no difference. IIRC you can play the game without a network connection. Only the upload to the NMS database on labeling discoveries etc will require the internet connection. Hard to decide what platform I will play this on.
Not sure whether to get this on PS4 or PC. Do I go PC for performance or PS4 for couch gameplay? Hmm hard to decide.
Meh - $150 for a mint X1 so I can spend an additional $200-$250 to get essentially 4k output and hdr hardly seems worth it to me. the X1S is the box they should have shipped initially. And in no way would I trade in my PS4 for that. I'll just keep my orig X1 for that kinda deal.
Ok fair enough. I will PM in the future.
How is this tagged as 'News'? Should be tagged as Opinion.
I just think 3rd party timed exclusivity is not something players like, no matter which console has the timed exclusivity. When did this all start anyway? My earliest recollection is with CoD DLC on Xbox 360? I guess the only way to combat the business practice is to make the long term financial cost not worth the short term payout from a console manufacturer.
