Can't see myself buying a Scorpio. I can always play MS first party games on my PC. And frankly if MS sells the consoles at a loss or break even maybe MS doesn't care. Software has much better profitability so I have to think MS making Scorpio as an alternative to a gaming pc but as an appliance. So as a PC owner and PS4, I think my bases are covered. Although as it stand MS games lineup is not that appealing.

I think Zelda is really a Wii U game they ported to Switch. So sure it doesn't really show off lots of graphics power. That's not saying Switch is a powerhouse but what we're looking at is really a Wii U title which can run at 900p. If I do get a Switch someday it'll make for a nice 2nd console. Frankly I like the art style of the game. And it sounds as if the game play is very good. Well back to playing Horizon in the mean time...
I wonder if for Metacritic the average should exclude the bottom 'x' number of scores and the top 'x' number of scores like they do in some Olympic sporting events. Remove a certain portion of the results which skew the average. Not sure what that 'x' number should be but just a thought.
Don't get me wrong those games you mention are great. Just without having played it or seen any streams of it I don't wish it to fail. Frankly, I hope it surpasses my expectations. We shall see. I am cautiously optimistic.
I'll likely play this. But next week is Horizon for me on PS4. ME:A will be PC afterwards. I may wait to see how people like it and watch some gameplay streams before final decision. But I am hopeful it is decent.
Switch may well be a new second console for me. PS4 and Switch might be a good combo for me. Sadly, my investment in X1 as my second console seems to have been wasted money. I imagine Switch will be in short supply so I will have to wait a bit to get one.
As both a PS4 and X1 owner I am hoping MS is more successful bringing a diversity to their game lineup than what I see now. I definitely find I spend more money on PS4 games than X1 this gen. Having multiple platforms with a variety of games always suits me as a consumer best. The last thing I want to see is the market shrink in competition.
@RedPill86 But let's not forget that PS4 also has additional from PSN subscription which PS2 did not. Not saying PS2 was not amazing in terms for hardware and software sales, but when you consider the gaming landscape today with mobile, console, and pc, it is impressive how well PS4 has sold.
So somehow Blizzard will be able to end the rampant cheating in console version of D3? I love playing it on console but never play co-op with random players. Ultimately I went back to PC cuz the cheating was too frequent in co-op making it not fun for me.
Have to agree with Septic here. Scorpio alone will not cure reputation problems for MS. The variety and quality of games is equally if not more important. Not sure yet I will buy a Scorpio. Between my PS4 and ability to play some XBOX titles on pc now not sure I feel the need to replace my X1 with a Scorpio.
I think they are harvesting the early adopters and hard core Nintendo fan base at $299. I can imagine once that initial waves dies down they will bundle and/or drop base console price down to $249 to entice the 2nd wave of adopters, But they must know a certain percentage of their core fan base would buy it at $299 without blinking. Generally the same tactic many manufacturers take. The question is, how long will a price drop take to happen?
I do have to think XBOX as a product would be better served if spun off from MS. Not sure what's going on there but doesn't seem very well run at times.

I don't doubt it could be a good game. But I will watch some streams and speak with people who may have bought it before relying solely on a review.
Many years ago I worked in the publishing industry for computing magazines. I know first hand the pressure on the editorial department to not bite the hand that feeds them. Why do you think a magazine / website like Consumer Reports does not take advertising? Product companies don't outright seek to control editorial content. But then can reduce their advertising budget with outlets which are not considered "friendly". When you take advertising money it puts pressure on writers...
IGN is a joke of a site. Why waste your time ever reading or watching that site? They exist to appease advertisers with product promotions disguised as reviews. They have so little credibility. Getting paid by the same people whose products you review is such a clear conflict of interest. Of course they'll say their 'journalistic integrity' keeps them honest. If you believe that then you have been fooled by them.
That is exactly my thought no Console seasons. How do they intend to prevent cheaters from participating in a season? Hopefully we'll get some info on that. I no longer play D3 on console due to the cheating. I have switched to pc. But if they could rid the game of cheating on console I'd love to play again on ps4.
