PS5 will outsell Xbox 2 at launch for the simple fact that there are so many more PS4 owners currently. If PS5 has the expected backward compatibility with PS4 (and perhaps previous gens) then it'll sell well. The games library on PS5 will be superior. Spec wise I expect them to be similar. 3rd party games will perform similarly. It will take several years for MS to attempt to compare similarly to Sony 1st party studios. Making games takes time.

Here's a likely scenario. Stadia does well out the gates mostly due to curiosity and low upfront cost. But as traditional gamers use the service they realize it is inadequate compared to local gaming hardware. They stop renewing any subscription. Stadia will appeal to the extreme casual market who currently play on mobile devices primarily. But said casuals will either play f2p games or just the flat fee subscription games. Granted there are many casuals out there with money to spend. I c...

User Reviews > "Professional Reviews"

This attempted shaming of consumers is pathetic. We all know too often publishers and studios under deliver by a wide margin what they sold to the public. Just because you feel you worked hard doesn't mean you deserve praise. Don't over hype a game and then under deliver and expect everyone to just say it's ok because you feel you worked hard. Now studios need their safe space too?

But this video demonstrates very well how Sony's first party studios helped win the current console generation. Sony is a creative company from movies, music, technology, to games. They have a strong pedigree this way. Compare that to MS. They buy studios and make games but most all of them were a facsimile of other games. MS is a business software company first. MS's pedigree is very different than that of Sony's. Sony allowed its creators to create through trust and time. MS too...

User reviews on Steam are one of the best features the platform provides. Seeing total hours played alongside a well-written user review is very effective compared to a 'professional' review. Review bombing is indeed a form of protest. I have no problem with it. Everyone understands the nature of a review bomb. They allow consumers to project displeasure with a product or a company producing that product. Not effectively having open user reviews on the EPIC store is one reason I have ...

The Trespasser DLC is very good. It's been a long while since I have played but that story was worth the play through.

I just picked up the game yesterday. I am not very far into the game but I think I will like it. I don't rely upon review site scores to make purchase decisions anymore. I watch streams and talk to friends who have played a game. Critic's reviews have limited value to me. Just the fact that Sony Bend made a single player game not stuffed with MTs is fantastic alone.

MS Azure is a different business unit than XBox. So to say that because Azure as a service is successful is a long way from saying Xbox is successful. As for Cloud computing making Xbox better, game streaming is very different than what MS talked up with cloud such they did with Crackdown 3.

Competition fosters innovation. It's possible in the future what we know as a platform today will morph into the streaming service of tomorrow. But as far as console and pc gaming goes, they are all x86 based today. I expect the difference from a hardware perspective for Xbox and PlayStation will be minimal this upcoming gen. So the differentiator will be games and services. Being "Divisive" likely has minimal consideration in the execs eyes unless they feel it hurts sales. Ulti...

I will say I think Shadow of the Colossus was a great remake.

Is there a possibility that both companies are concerned strategically about companies like Google and Amazon entering the traditional gaming market via their cloud initiatives? I gotta wonder. But this is rather nebulous at this point and I don't want to read too much into this.

I really don't care what IGN thinks of games. I hope people like the game. But I'll ask trusted friends before I rely upon IGN or the like.

I can't speak for all Ubisoft games, but I can say that The Division 2 is well above average as a shooter / looter.

I meant to say PCIe not eSATA. The bandwidth of that bus I believe far exceeds that of SATA3.

I wonder if this is some eSata based SSD like using an M.2 drive in a PC? Perhaps some additional pre-fetch cache as well?

So true that constant updates is the GaaS model. I think publishers now just want consumers to buy their incomplete products because they put in good effort making it. Perhaps give the dev studios ample time to complete the game before rushing it to market and then expect a never-ending stream of updates to finish the game after it was released. A studio like Bioware is being ruined by the GaaS business model.

Why is a collaboration with Tencent needed to release a product in China? Does China require collaboration with a Chinese firm in order to import a foreign product?

I hope MS does well next generation. But regardless of how good their upcoming console is, I will still be buying a PS5. The question for me is will I also be buying another XB? That depends on their games lineup. Stadia? Don't know enough about it to give it serious consideration at this point.
