I paid for the Kickstarter, getting to play slightly earlier is a perk for supporting the game.
Nintendo is pretty much the best of the three, even Sony is struggling to impress these days, there are projects they just aren't interested in that would appeal to their audience, plus all these GAAS games they're trying to push out. I'm pretty sure Foam Stars is already on death's doorstep if it hasn't died yet, and that game clearly takes inspiration from Splatoon, which is very popular.
I don't believe we'll get better or more complete games, the savings will just get pocketed by the wrong people, I wish it wouldn't, but I don't have a lot of faith in these bigger companies.
I don't see it either, you have a good portion of the game already made if you reuse as much as you can for the first game, and based on the developer interviews, there was a lot of stuff they didn't implement. They also hired that one, currently infamous consultancy group, despite all this, I can't see how they spent more than twice as much money making the sequel.
I honestly think this is where a large portion of the budget goes, a significant portion to the CEO, then another large portion to the "Consultancy" group they hire. The rest can be explained by too much ambition in scope for their game, or being too inefficient with their resources available, then you have whatever is left for meaningful development.
While that's probably true, Xbox fans really did get the rawest of deals, Sony won't help Microsoft out either though.
@Shinoff2183,
I also think that was a bad buy on their part as well, I see the logic in what they did, but I don't think it was the best move for them (live service was too big of a pull for them).
I'm still sore that they wouldn't greenlight a Wild Arms or Shadow Hearts project, whether it be a new game or remake/remaster, I'm sure I'll be happy with Armed Fantasia and Penny Blood though.
Honestly surprised we don't see more of them considering what a treasure trove the PS1 library of games is.
This, I'm perfectly fine with games from the PS1 era and before getting remakes and remasters like this, considering a lot of people never played them because they're too young. Or for the older ones amongst us, we missed out on it the first time around, I'll probably pick this game up, hopefully we get more remakes/remasters of older PS1 games in the future.
Price is a bit factor, then lesser factors are the state of AAA games, I'm still using my 1080 ti.
It's been going on for a while, they've only just started getting it right with Sonic and Mario, Dredge doesn't exactly appealing to me as a movie though, but it should be easy to make into one.
I would love that, I'd buy up some of the Xbox games if they could run on PC, like the Rare Replay, Lost Odyssey and Dead or Alive Ultimate, probably a pipe dream though.
I like both of those games, so if you make a new one, I'll be all over it.
The Destiny games always feel gimped in some way to me, they could have been amazing games if it wasn't for their flaws, hopefully the 3rd game isn't gimped or flawed in any significant way.
@CS7,
I was honestly thinking keeping the old-style overworld would have been a good idea considering budget constraints, just make play areas on the overworld for the player to enter into.
I actually miss overworlds in JRPGs.
I feel like the Crisis Core remaster was good enough, I just think they were too ambitious in remaking FF7, probably should have gone a bit more budget with the graphics to make it cheap enough to do the whole game. And I think the graphics is one of the best things about the remake.
I wouldn't say we've had too many FF games recently, I can agree with everything else though.
In my own head cannon, I'd like to think people are getting tired of sub-par FF releases, or that they're tired of what Square-Enix is doing with the franchise, but I'm not sure if that's the case. People have also stated pack release schedules, but I'm also unsure of that because FF games are generally regarded as the cream of the crop when it comes to JRPGs. I'm also heard the tired argument of them being PS5 exclusives hurt their sales, which I believe to be nonsens...
I'm actually with CS7 on this, this is a question worth asking, because FF games always sell well on brand name alone, even the more sub-par entries generally sell well, FF16 and FF7 Rebirth have both been more questionable.
Yeah, Nah, I'm not trusting IGN to review this fairly.
