@Vits,
I don't think a new PS handheld would be worth it for me after owning the Steamdeck, assuming there will probably be a lot of overlap of both libraries in my case, so just having the one device is fine for me (I don't need the clutter or devices with too much overlap). I'll probably just stream the PS4 games I don't have on Steam to the Steam Deck via Chiaki, I would probably need the PS handheld to have its own exclusives to entice me.
My libraries are roughly equal in size for both, maybe if I could play more classics games on the Playstation one I could consider it. But it's a tough selling point for people who aren't already heavily invested in the Playstation ecosystem.
This is the question, might be nice for the Playstation exclusive games from previous generations, but Sony's Playstation Classics lineup is seriously lacking, especially from their PS1 catalogue, I don't think the PS2/PS3 catalogue are that huge either.
A Steam Deck is already somewhere between a PS4 and a PS4 Pro in terms of power. Without those exclusive games from Sony's previous consoles, I don't see how you could convince anyone a new Playstation hand...
I think a lot of people are jumping the gun here, the big question is, will Sony support it long enough to get a decent foothold? They let the Vita die off pretty quickly, and the PSP didn't really exceed outside of Asia, I don't regret buying both handhelds, but I wouldn't be quick to jump on a new Playstation handheld.
I hope there's something impressive in there.
@Outside_ofthe_Box,
So that Microsoft can close down the studio after doing nothing with them? Right...
9 is always underrated, it never got the love it deserved, I do like 8, but I think 9 is overall a better game, even if I do remember the plot of 8 better.
We really didn't need 2 compilations of FF7.
They already tried a shotgun approach with quantity over quality, it clearly didn't work for them (remember all those games like Harvestella, Valkyrie Elysium, Diofield Chronicle, etc...). They should have focused on quality a long time ago, I feel like they haven't worried about quality for a long time, and it's hurt them in the long run.
PC also has a lot more competition, especially when people can easily buy and play older games from 20 or so years ago on it.
@Michiel1989,
Akira Toriyama had an understudy though, he emulates his style, so maybe he'll do the art for Dragon Quest games, I would love to see Nobue Uematsu do music for the series though, that could be fun if they could convince him.
I'll be so p*ssed if that doesn't go ahead, also, where's DQ12 at? They've been silent on that for so long, and it was announced years ago.
@gold_Drake,
I'm pretty sure they can siphon some profit from A Realm Reborn to keep FF and Dragon Quest going too. I think the company would have gone bankrupt if it wasn't for that cash cow.
I don't think the exclusivity hurts them as badly as they think, I think it's a range of factors, like the quality of the games, high sales expectations, ESG/DEI, censorship, development costs/time... I also suspect that Square-Enix is extremely inefficient with their resources, they struggled/avoided towns in the FF13 trilogy, and FF14 was mostly wilderness with little to do apart from derp about in the wild (they also avoid towns and making a lot of characters there too). But FF14 a...
I can see them going for PS5/Switch/PC for the most part, it'll mostly likely be the Switch 2 by the time their next game enters development, which is probably a good thing since the Switch is struggling with 3rd party games. If they're hurting for money/sales, I don't see them bothering with Xbox, that's just wasted time/money for them.
ToTK would have been amazing to me if the first part either didn't exist, or I never played BotW. Part of my issue is feeling like I've done all this before and TotK feels like a 1.5 version of BotW, Totk temples and puzzles were better than the first game though.
I'm dumb AF when it comes to this game, I tend to over complicate the solution, but some of the things people come up with is brillant, people are making missiles systems, mechs, tanks, etc...
I think it would have, Microsoft needed a win, they haven't got many good games to their name, especially these days, Hi-Fi Rush was one of the few good games they had going for the brand.
I really didn't like this game, tried it because of how loved the original Prey was, played the demo of this one and thought it was garbage, it didn't feel nice/fun to play.
I would take a HD version of A Link to The Past with the graphics from Link's Awakening remake, it's really surprising they haven't done that yet.
I was tempted to hack my Vita, but I couldn't bear to risk it, something about having the original software/experience on the handheld.
I'll happily emulate on the Steam Deck, especially the games that weren't available on the Aussie store or ones I just missed out on.
