sure, why not?

i've yet to make up my mind, but my forerunners for my own personal game of the year are

Heavy Rain
God of War 3
Red Dead Redemption

they're all such different, fresh experiences/takes on existing genres that they each deserve credit.

i enjoyed ME2, but in truth, i don't really think it's game of the year worthy. i think the changes to some of the core game play from ME1, not to...

i agree 100%

there will ALWAYS be a need for physical media until better download solutions are available.

right now, i've been downloading for 4.26 hours, and i'm at roughly 65% completion, at 11.2Mbps

the game is a 15gig download.

i love having a hard copy of a game in my hand. i like the IDEA of having the convenience of having content on my HDD at the touch of a button, but the practicality of it is limiting.

i got into the DCU beta via gamespot, and i'm currently downloading now. it's going to be a WHILE. it's a huge download. i'm a little over 25% done with it now, and i've been downloading for 2 hours.

i'm definitely looking forward to it, as i enjoyed what i played at E3 this year.

it still gives me a chuckle when i remember the amount of disagrees i got a year or so back, when i said that Mass Effect would be heading to the PS3 now that EA owns Bioware. lol.

i was called an idiot, and that "MS wouldn't let that happen."

i own ME1 and ME2 on the 360 already (i'm still playing through ME2 right now). because my gaming budget is REALLY tight for next year, i probably won't be able to get the PS3 version, but i'll...

the marketplace is too obsessed with making players feel like overpowered badasses to bother with tackling some true survival horror.

i think Resident Evil 4 had a great balance of making Leon feel strong, but also outclassed/outnumbered in most situations. i was literally terrified in RE4. RE5 didn't scare me one bit. not a single moment in that game had me worried or tense. i enjoyed the game, but was sorely disappointed in the atmosphere.

Silent Hill i...

Howard Stringer has done a FANTASTIC job unifying Sony.

when i look at the PS3 now, i shake my head in shame that the media, and Sony, hung Ken Kutaragi out to dry.

everything that is being praised about the PS3 NOW, were brainchildren of Ken.

Blu Ray, integrated HDD, HDMI, Cell Processor, that was Ken.

back in 2006, the gaming media was butthurt because their weak game "journalist" pay meant they couldn't affo...

Prototype 2 COULD be good.

then i remember that Activision is publishing it.

having worked for them for over 3+ years, i can say they don't give a rats ass about giving the developers the time and BUDGET they need to develop top quality games.

just look at each and every ATVI published game NOT named Call of Duty, and you'll see that same, poorly optimized multi-platform engine spread across all their games.

how many ...

i bought so many games this year that my wife is ready to kick my ass (she's a gamer too, but we spent WAAAY too much on games. and by "we," i mean "me").

i have NO IDEA how i'm going to survive next year. my current list for 2011:

LBP2
Killzone 3
Mass Effect 2 and 3 PS3
Journey
Ni No Kuni
Yakuza 4
DC Universe Online
inFAMOUS 2
Team Ico Collection
The Last Guar...

interesting list, but my REAL, legitimate question is: how many of those games are coming from established developers with an established pedigree of quality?

i ask this, because most people think that PS3 fans are getting all excited over every little PS3 title announced, but the truth is, all of the titles releasing exclusively on the PS3 next year are coming from established developers with a HISTORY of making rock solid, kick ass titles:

Killzone 3 (Guerr...

I'm usually not one to spout slogans, but:

It Only Does Creativity.

I have to say, out of the 3 console manufacturers, Sony has been the one to go most out on a limb concerning creative game concepts that aren't simply catering to the meathead with guns demographic.

flow, Flower, Journey, The Last Guardian, Heavy Rain, etc are unique games, with unique feels, that will appeal to a particular audience. other platforms can try this, but...

i don't mean to make excuses, but half of the magazines i've been reading that have had their December 2010 copy release have had stories expressing how GT5 had been delayed, and they didn't think it was going to release in 2010.

my last few issues of Game Informer and PlayStation Official Magazine have had stories about GT5 not hitting this year.

400,000 is great numbers for the last 6 days of the month, but it's very possible that people sim...

i hate to feed the trolls, but jmallymav, i have a question.

you say Gears of War 3 will occupy all of your time, but, what, may i ask, are the alternatives? outside of Gears of War 3, WHAT ELSE is hitting the 360 next year that's worth a damn? confirmed titles, please? i mean, it sounds to me like you don't have much choice BUT to play Gears 3 outside of multi-platform titles (which are looking rather excellent).

on the flip side, while I wait for Un...

exactly. we've been saying this since the PS3 launched, only to be shot down by short-sighted fanboys.

when we said that the PS3 would come into it's own, that PlayStation platforms have ALWAYS had slow 1st years, people scoffed.

when year two rolled around for the PS3, and games like MGS4 and LBP were released, people still scoffed.

when Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Ratchet: ACIT, Demon's Souls, inFAMOUS, etc, hit in year 3, people d...

console manufacturers and game publishers/developers aren't too eager to jump into costly R&D for the next consoles, and would LOVE to extend this console generation for as long as they can.

the longer this generation continues, the more time they have to recoup the costs they spent in game engines/tech.

personally, i'm NOT looking forward to spending ANOTHER $600 on a gaming console in two years time. i can barely keep up with the constant game r...

lmao.

when there's no exclusives to counter the complete avalanche of PS3 titles released and on the horizon, fall back to sales talk. lol.

i'm not big on sales talk, but these numbers for Sony are pretty poor in comparison to the competition.

i imagine there will be a price cut on the PS3 soon, bolstered by a strong game lineup.

these numbers don't change the fact that, for the past few years, the PS3 has had an ...

anyone else think the intro will be Drake surviving the plane crash?

the intro to Uncharted 2 was fantastic, i can totally see this game starting out with Drake and Sully aboard that plane and then it begins to crash. the player is controlling Drake while he stumbles and shifts around the plane, looking for a parachute and fleeing, like an homage to Uncharted: DF, when Drake and Elena escape the small plane.

i think that would be a fantastic way to start the ...

wow. i just woke up, turned on the computer, and saw this.

this. is. AWESOME.

i'm still too tired to be my usual verbose self. THIS is why PlayStation fans supported the PS3 back in 2006, when we were ridiculed and called morons and idiots. the game lineup of the PS3 for the past 4 years has been FANTASTIC, and the upcoming lineup (regardless of whether it's releasing in 2011 or not), is simply mind-blowing. looking at how far the PS3 has come, i can&...

people are STILL debating this? lol.

i DID read the article, but there are a few factual errors.

1st: Drake doesn't kill the guy he tosses in the water in Istanbul. play that section again and keep the camera focused on the body after it hits the water: HE SWIMS AWAY.

all the other characters in the museum heist are rendered unconscious by choke holds or tranq darts.

2nd: the mercenaries Drake kills are TRYING TO KILL HIM...

it saddens me that Microsoft spent $500 million on Kinect marketing.

$500 million dollars.

MGS4 was rumored to cost $40 million.

think about it: that $500 million could have been spent to develop 12 MGS4 caliber 360 exclusives.

most games cost around $10-$20 million dollars to produce. that means MS could have produced 25 high quality 360 exclusives.

instead, they spent that $500 million on a glorified EyeToy...
