Crysis 2 looks great in those screenshots.
It's unfortunate, then, that we play moving images, not screenshots, and Killzone 2 has the best animation I think I've seen in an FPS (in terms of how enemies move and react to bullets).
Crysis 2 looks sharper, visually, as Killzone 3 has that grainy texture to it that makes the world seem rough. The Silent Hills do that as well.
I think the bigger difference between Killzone and Crysis aren...
i don't know if you know of this one, but Fast Pass TV is one of those sites that's compatible with the PS3 browser. i watched the whole first 3 seasons of Sons of Anarchy there.
there was an article not too long ago that had a list of such compatible sites:
http://www.psuni.com/best-m...
in case you missed it.
I stopped listening about halfway through, because those guys were annoying the HELL out of me.
First of all, they need to lose that patronizing tone. You could hear the disdain they have for Sony every time they say the company name.
Secondly, you are IGN. Last I heard, IGN covered more than games, so why are you butthurt when Sony covers content BEYOND games?
Thirdly, I don't CARE what your personal reason for coming to the CES was for....
Holy shit that was awesome.
I mean, I LOVED Killzone 2, but I was actually going to hold off getting Killzone 3 until later in the year, because of my gaming budget, but this trailer just made this a day one buy. I just have NO IDEA how I'm going to afford it.
I can't get LBP2 or DC Universe Online this month, and I'm hoping to get Killzone 3 in February as well. But if I put it off until March, that clashes with Dragon Age 2, which my wife is DYI...
It absolutely AMAZES me of the double standards and goal post moving of the industry.
Back in 2006, how many articles did we have from the biggest gaming sites on the internet telling console consumers to buy the Xbox 360 over the PlayStation 3? COUNTLESS.
Now, WHY did they recommend the 360 over the PS3 during 2006 and 2007?
EXCLUSIVES. In 2006, the PS3 didn't have many worthwhile exclusives to set itself apart. It had Resistance: Fall o...
I love damage control.
Why explain yourself if you didn't have an agenda in the first place?
We have damn near 5 years of console comparisons in which they blow up miniscule differences between the two versions into major, "deal breaking" flaws that PS3 fans should be unwilling to put up with.
"Oh, look, you can see jaggies in this PS3 screenshot we blew up 200% larger than you will EVER see on your HDTV. Don't buy that...
His answer was pitch perfect correct.
Now I'd like to see Microsoft actually APPLY that and acquire some first party studios.
I mean, it's kind of embarrassing right now when you look at, not just Sony's software lineup, but the amount of studios they have working under their banner, and you look at Microsoft's in house studios.
Sony has 19 1st party studios, and 11 2nd party studios. Each of them working on an exclusive (or t...
you know what got me through the summer? all those awesome PSN and XBLA releases.
i could maybe tolerate a summer lull more, if there were more quality downloadable titles released. last year didn't have too much, but i wouldn't mind a summer of 5 or 6 high quality downloadable releases per platform (6 on PSN, 6 on XBLA). i'd be in seventh heaven.
my wife is a gamer also, so i was able to get Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age: Awakening, and Fallout: New ...
I tried to log on, but unfortunately, the queue was too long, and eventually it timed out and booted me.
I still think the game needs another month of beta testing, at least.
I think a February release date would do the game much better than this overstuffed January.
Honestly, I think a summer release would be even better. January - April are jam packed with releases, while May, June, July, and August are practically empty, then September-Dec...
wait, where's the part in this article about the PS3 being better than the Xbox 360?
you mean, this is an ACTUAL story? WTF???
anyway, this was a fun article for a change. some really humorous stuff, as well as some things i didn't expect to actually be possible.
i wish there were more articles like this being posted on N4G. not all of us are here to fuel the fanboy wars, you know.
i was also 6 when the NES launched in the US in '85, and i don't want to go back either.
i still play some of those classics from time to time, but for nostalgia, not for my current gaming fix.
i figured, i served my time in the trenches when it comes to old school graphics, and i've earned some eye candy.
a lot of young gamers play those Virtual Console titles on their Wii, and think that earns them street cred, but gamers like y...
lol. I agree, and I love your analogies.
And trust me, your girl/wife/mother knows about your "secret" folder...
God IGN has been writing shit articles lately.
As for who cares about graphics anymore? Well, apparently everybody in the gaming media until the PlayStation 3 summarily began beating the Xbox 360 in the graphics department, ESPECIALLY in the exclusives area.
Why, if I remember correctly, just a few short years ago, IGN themselves would deduct points from the PlayStation 3 version of most multi-platform titles if it dared to have a few pixels short of the 360 ...
That's pretty cool. I think I'll log on and join the Batman/Joker fight, since Jim Lee is playing as Batman, and Greg Miller (from IGN), is playing as the Joker.
I'd LOVE to put the smack down on that guy...
Better power level tonight, so I can be high enough for the battle!
I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks that the Beast is John.
SPOILERS:
When the Ray Sphere is activated, Cole says that John was vaporized, but how does he know for sure? We already know that John was also a Conduit (his Dead Drops talk about all the experiments done on him), and the Ray Sphere affected Conduits differently than they affect "regular people."
It's very possible that the Sphere transported John some...
I didn't play Halo: Reach online (I don't have a LIVE account), but I completed the single player, and I enjoyed it, but I personally prefer the weapons in the Resistance franchise. I find them more enjoyable to use.
If there were two comparable FPS franchises on the PS3 and 360, however, I'd certainly choose Resistance and Halo, as, despite different subject matter, they are both fast paced, arcadey FPS titles.
And Resistance 2 had great visuals,...
This looks really cool.
I've been hoping that Konami would release PSN/XBLA versions of the DS Castlevania titles.
It's kind of sad/annoying that gamers always have to faction themselves off into groups of some kind.
Personally, I LOVE the old school Castlevanias. After all, I grew up with the 8 and 16bit CVs. I ALSO love the Metroidvania style Castlevanias, and I loved Lords of Shadow.
I mean, why is it ALWAYS an &qu...
GWAVE, for some reason, your comment made me think of Chrono Trigger.
It's when the party are in the future, and they talk to an NPC that says something along the lines of "Save money, it'll do ya good."
lol.
Random, I know.
Anyway, LBP2 is looking awesome. Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen events, I can't pick it up this month. I was REALLY hoping I'd be able to squeeze it in this month, but ala...
with my gaming budget being super tight, i'll only be getting a few games this year. i even had to cancel my LBP2 pre-order because i just can't afford it now. hopefully i'll be able to snag it next month :(
my wishlist for the year
Must Haves:
LBP2
inFAMOUS 2
Uncharted 3
The Last Guardian
Resistance 3
Killzone 3
Journey
If I can Squeeze them into my budget:
Yakuza 3 ...
No, I meant unique.
Every FPS on consoles and PC have that floating gun feel. Loose, and arcadey.
console FPS games have been trying to mimic keyboard and mouse controls, without taking into account the unique properties of the controller.
Killzone, and Killzone 2, had a control scheme that didn't try and mimic mouse and keyboard, and instead worked around the controller.
the weight of the guns felt so different, and the...
