i think the Hollywood support is a reasonable assumption(if this rumor is true), simply because Sony owns a large percentage of Hollywood (Columbia, Tristar, Sony Pictures, and their subsidiaries), so if there is anyone that can bring studios into the picture, it's Sony, if at least, for their own.
Sony Television also produces a lot of T.V. shows, so they could bring us TV content also, and hopefully not charge for it. i guess it really would be a "Playstation Network,&q...
i remember when people bought consoles because of the GAMES, and not because of arrogant comment from officials, or a movie font on the console it self.
it used to be, "hey, Super Mario Bros 3 is on the NES! i gotta get it!" or, "Sonic the Hedgehog on the Genesis looks amazing! what do you think?!"
now it's all, "i don't like that Ken Kutaragi said the PS3 would be worth working more hours for!"
"that Spider-Man f...
this article was nothing more than the same old crap we've been hearing for ages now.
why should i bring the price into my argument? we all know $600 is a lot of money.
the point of my post was to point out that there are a crapload of titles releasing that will make that price a non-issue for quite a bit of gamers out there.
but sure, you want me to talk about the price.
$600 is a lot of money. for that $600 you are getting the equi...
i know where you're going with this, but there is a big difference:
a handheld isn't expecting to provide you with cutting edge technology, as it's a handheld, designed for on the go.
a console, on the other hand, since the Genesis 1-uped the Nintendo, and the SNES 1-uped the Genesis, is designed to provide the latest in cutting edge technology and "at home" entertainment. that is to say, when you sit down to play a game at home, you're going to devote,...
aside from the fact that this article is a joke, i find it really amusing that before the PS3 was launched, everyone was like "No one's going to buy that thing for $600!"
3.15 million units later, it's all "it's not selling nearly as much as a $250 and $400 gaming system!"
well, which one is it? is it a sales flop, or a sales success?
judging by the fact that the console IS selling, even at it's low numbers and with a barely the...
you're trying to compare a full-fledged game to a DEMO that still has 3 more months until release.
also, the games are completely and utterly different in art direction.
it's like comparing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to Metal Gear Solid. totally different games and design.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma is gorgeous.
Gears of War is a goodlooking game, though not my style.
i'm enjoying the hell out of the Sigma demo that's for s...
i concur
and it looks incredible, even on my standard def TV. i can't wait until the end of May, when i finally get my hands on my HDTV.
these captures do not do the game any justice at all.
they're only a fraction of how goodlooking this game is.
overhyping the graphics? i highly doubt it.
Gears of War is game that has overhyped graphics (the rain doesn't even hit the player character! hell, in Metal Gear Solid 2 for the PS2 the rain hit Sna...
i downloaded the Japanese one around 12 or so this afternoon, the US one came online about 3pm here in Los Angeles.
i've only played a little bit of it (i have lots of work to do), but it's just as awesome as i remember it, and on a controller that's more comfortable for my hands!
i can't wait for the full retail release, but i know what i'll be playing til the wee hours tonight!
personally, i think Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops was that first "true" system seller (though you can argue that Monster Hunter 2 has outdone them all. lol), as MGS is, in my opinion, more popular and reknowned than God of War. after all, we're only on Krato's second outing, whereas Snake has been around the block for 20 years, with MGS3 being the best of the Solid series (which is odd for me to say, as i thought the original MGS was fricking fantastic). i think if MGS: PO had rele...
i thought i heard that the adaptor was out, or there were USB adaptors for PS1/PS2 controllers already available.
i still don't see the necessity for rumble (last i checked, all handhelds before the PSP didn't have rumble standard, so unless the only handheld you've ever owned was a PSP, i don't see how it could take you time to get "used to" a rumbleless PSP), but to each his own. to me, it's intrusive, and if i play for longer than two or three hours, the rumble sta...
i've played through the entire game of God of War 2 on my PS3, and i honestly didn't notice the lack of rumble one bit.
i used to think rumble was cool and neccessary, but in the past, maybe three years, it's gotten increasingly irritating and intrusive while i'm playing games, so i found myself turning it off.
i even played Shadow of the Colossus and the Silent Hills without rumble, and it had no effect on my enjoyment of the games whatsoever.
i s...
i am absolutely SICK of hearing the phrase, "now the PSP has a good game!" or "finally the PSP get's a system seller!'
what do you call Daxter?!
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
Tekken: Resurrection
Metal Gear Portal Ops
GTA: LCS
GTA: VCS
The Warriors
Killzone
Pursuit Force
Ratchet and Clank (which i've been playing lately, and it's lots of fun)
and a few others i can't think of right now.

TDK is also developing a 200gb, 6 layer BD disc internally.
they are keeping their options open, but they know that Blu Ray is in the lead, and has been for the past 3, 4 months now.
each time Sony sells a PS3, that's another Blu Ray player in people's homes.
sure, the PS3 isn't selling 500,000 units every month, but 150,000-200,000 PS3's a month here in the US is still 150,000-200,000 new Blu Ray owners. and it's not like a PS3 purchaser doesn't k...
my fiancee refuses to open a PSN account on my PS3, but Home will change her mind, as she's curious about what it will entail.
knowing her addictive personality, maybe it's a good thing she hasn't signed up yet(i got her addicted to City of Heroes, then Oblivion, which she is currently playing, hogging up my PS3, which i haven't played in two weeks, thanks to her). :(
anyway, 1.3 million users in 4 months is great! it explains why you can pretty much find a large...
the Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo is supposed to hit next week, so this weeks offerings are fine. we got a firmware update, and some new trailers. this seems to be what happens whenever there is a firmware update.
they update, maybe add a trailer or two, but that's it.
next week we get either Calling All Cars, and the Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo, or one of the two.
Tecmo said April 27th would be the date of the Sigma demo, but that's a Friday, and we all kno...
my brain is exploding waiting for this game, but this interview didn't tell us anything we didn't know about it since last year.
i have confidence that this game will be lots of fun, simply because Ubisoft Montreal and the Prince of Persia team know how to make badass action games with creative level design.
i thought the video they showed last year was awesome. the game still had nearly a years worth of dev time. that's a lot of milestones they've yet to hit con...
you guys have some great points, but my thinking about a universal console from a gamer (and even potential developer's), perspective, is simply that we play video games because of the VIDEO GAMES. that should always be the primary focus.
when various developers and publishers are constantly worrying about making a profit, and having to spread themselves thin resource wise so they can make enough versions of the game to appeal to a wider audience, we, as GAMERS, could be missin...
i just find it funny that there were so many people, industry and fans alike that were stating we'd never see a 1080p, 60fps title on the PS3...EVER.
now, we have two: Devil May Cry 4 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
Lair is also running at 1080p, though i think the framerate is probably 30.
it's nice to know that devs are learning they can do things they didn't think they could before now that they've actually got their hands on the system, instead of basi...
but we've seen these games before, we know how fantastic they look, so that's enough to get me pumped, crappy scans or not.
my personal PS3 list for this year is thus:
Ninja Gaiden Sigma (definite purchase)
Lair (rental, then maybe a purchase if i really like it)
Warhawk (demo, then maybe purchase)
Heavenly Sword (definite purchase)
Metal Gear Solid 4 (um, yeah, do i even have to say i'm going to buy this one)
GTA IV (ditto) <...
