PSVR is a receiver. That is it. It doesn't have a cooling system, drives, memory/storage slots and it doesn't have any extra buttons or on board processors to add to cost. The system has a screen attached to a plastic fitting and a basic converter box. Sony was able to sell the PSP and the PS Vita around a significantly lower cost WITHOUT losing that amount of money on the system, and those were devices with a plethora of hardware features and capabilities....
It's a gimmick to those that won't be able to have access to it -- whether that be money or platform. anytime the adult industry jumps on something like this, it is not a gimmick. they didn't do that to the Move controller Nor 3d TVs

Do you think the DualShock is there for good looks? Honestly... Why do you think it has a lightbar, genius?
Sigh...
@ letsa
For the hardcore experience maybe? The lightbar on the DualShock 4 is for hardcore gamers wearing VR and the Move/other inputs are for the casual gamers wanting a more in depth experience. Think about the controls in Until Dawn.
I remember when they were so eager to take pictures of the ps4 consoles on pallets at Christmas time and post them on Twitter. lol
Seems there isn't much to take pictures of now, I guess.
See, the importance of them not focused on catching the PS4 now is a distant thought to them because they know that they already lost. So now t the goal is catching the 360. Its no question otherwise they never would have pulled that stunt around last Christmas.
@ sourav
Games switch out every single month. Uncharted 3, for instance, was originally apart of the subscription, but because the library switches out each month, another game was puy in it's place......like Netflix does with it's streaming movies. This is where PS1, PS2, PSP, maybe even PSVR, etc. will play a huge factor in the future.

From what o experienced, it is very much playable unlike some of the reviews I've read. Yes, it has lag but the lag is comparable to that of a touch screen on a pretty decent phone or tablet. I have a Note5, for example. If I were to scroll up or down by swiping the screen really, really fast with my finger, this is how the lag would look if you were to do the same with the controller -- rather that be mashing buttons or navigating the character on screen. Its ba...
Sony now has SoftKinetic's software AND their 3D camera hardware. So basically, they have a Kinect 2.0 of their own, but unlike Kinect, they have motion controllers to aid the device which ever way they decide to use it as.
Augmented reality is very very fixed. The way Microsoft presented it, it seemed as if you would have a hoard of monsters with complex AI to fight off, using every trick you ever learned as an athlete or gamer. In reality, you only have a 3-5 minute game consisting of the same wave of monsters with the same ol' mediocre AI pattern attacking you once more.
The verdict: the newness will wear off very very quickly just like the AR Kinect games or any camera-based game for tha...
If it has an on-board CPU as well, I can easily see this thing costing $700. I didn't know it had a controller either. For that reason, you could probably tack $100 onto that price. So IF the specs are right and it also supports a GPU & CPU along with it's on power supply, Hololens could be between $700 to $800 for both the headset and the controller. I'm leaning towards the $750 mark though for the two bundled, and that's me being very very fair. Take a look at Kinect if ...
Hololens has an on-board GPU. It won't be $1000 or even $2000, but its almost certain to be around the 500 to $600 mark.
I Told you sales matter. Yet, some act like they don't.
Let him dream. It is the only way he can keep from crying over such defeat
@ castillo
Sony has been patented this long before that was released.

Another great exclusive gone.
But but but Sony is in more regions is why they are leading. Just wait until XB1 release in _______ region. Microsoft is going to close the gap then.
Waiting......and still waiting.
Now its MG5 released on the system. LoL!
Its not like this was black Friday or Christmas with bargains going through the roof. This was a normal week that so happen to launch with a multi platform title, so there is no excuse when you are referring to a single we...
I'm already on board. But this here is one of the main reasons I want VR to succeed; the ability to go places and have new experiences regardless of where you are in the world. Games, of course, is the other. I am tired of the same ol' traditional way of playing games with the basic button layout as if we were back in the 1980s. This is the age of more intuitive controls.
@ GenuineGamer
Sales numbers are merely what you perceive them as. It has more to do with support by developers. How do you think Sony was able to take Call of Duty's DLC from Microsoft for the very first time after a notorious run on their platform? Sales. A lot of that will continue to occur the wider Sony keep expanding the gap.
Then what is a BluRay player? It too needs a host. Does that make it a peripheral to the TV, too? or what about surround sound speakers/receivers. Are those peripherals?
@ XBLskull
He means install base that has a PS4. If all those users need is just a HMD, then by they already having a PS4 console, they are half way there to VR.
How is this any different from what Apple did with the smart watch or Google did with android? None of THOSE users had that product either, but what Apple and Google did have was an install base big enough to offer those new products to get it off the ground. But I guess because its not Microsoft say...
