But unlike Kinect, the PlayStation Camera is not "expensive". You are looking at $100 vs $45. When you factor in games, Kinect doesn't work nor does it support any games. The PlayStation Camera, on the other hand, does work for games (long before VR) since it has a different way of supporting games than Kinect; it uses the light bar on the DualShock 4 as well as the Move's sphere in certain motion controlled games, and now it uses PSVR's 9 LEDs to track the headset. So y...

And how does that apply to everybody else, t-hall? Why hasn't Kinect sold many units even after it was removed from the XB1 package? Simple answer: it caters to everything BUT games. So like I said before, people don't buy expensive, in-accurate peripherals that has nothing to do with games. That's for casuals, and now you are witnessing this as a cold, hard fact.

@ t-hall785

This is exactly why the XB1 is in the position it is in right now: too much talk about everything else and not enough focus on GAMES. No one wants to spend all of their hard earned money on a peripheral that is not catered to GAMES. That's more of a casual market.

Kinect packs a lot of latency issues and its expensive for something so mediocre to both hardcore gaming and to what the others are doing. So no. Kinect is dead. Find a new outlet.

Sony is already announcing a ton of exclusives this year from their 1st and 2nd party alone for the PS4. VR is an exclusive all in itself because those games or content can only be fully realized in VR. So whatever games gets PSVR support will be an exclusive to the platform........even if it is a multi platform game. With 50 of those titles launching for PSVR just THIS YEAR, how is one or two titles from their competition going to compete with this and the...

VR is far bigger than gaming. I'm talking massive. Only the naysayers disagree because Sony is at the forefront rather than their select competition. VR has the backing that BluRay did.

I said it before and I'll say it again -- Microsoft were banking on VR being like 3D tv: fad surrounded by a lot of hype. Like Kinect to the Wii, they tried to go in a different direction with their own hype storm by announcing Hololens. To their surprise, VR was not what they anticipated, but it was too late for them to react by that time when the Hololens hype fell through and was overshadowed by VR. Basically they put all their eggs in one basket, and now they've backed themselves ...

It plays all the PS4 games and VR games. how is this not a deal?

3590d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Of course its dead. Think about.... originally, it was standard with every XB console, and Microsoft said that it would never be separated from it. They even went as far as making ads that confirmed this. Today they've completely taken that face from the XB by removing it from the standard position, removed the resources they pit aside for it to operate the interface and games and then closed down Kinect studios. Its dead.

Actually the Move controllers are like 30.

So this is what you'll be paying:

PS4-$350
PS VR-$400
Camera-$45
Move-$30

This article is stupid. Kinect isn't even 1 to 1, meaning the latency is pretty bad for hardcore games while PSVR is the complete opposite.

Kinect doesn't trick the subconscious into believing the world around you is real even though you know it isn't. PSVR does.

Kinect can't play other games from the system other than Kinect games. PSVR does.

And for the record, you don't NEED the Move controllers to make PSVR work. Some ...

This is a vampire move. As much as i would love to see something like this, this is a strategy to take any and all online, 3rd party exclusives from Sony's system. I mean, think about it for a second... Microsoft is getting pummeled right now, and Sony seems to have exclusive after exclusive coming at them, with no way for Microsoft to get air. With cross play, Microsoft can possibly shake their tarnished image and gain market share from Sony, not only in the states, but in other regions ...

Big and desperate. I mean, if you step back for a second and look at the bigger picture, you have to ask yourself WHY they seem to be allowing cross play with Sony's system. Why not Nintendo? Its simple really: Microsoft is losing pretty bad to Sony in ALL markets including their own. A lot of markets are releasing games exclusively on Sony's system. By Microsoft allowing cross play with Sony's system, then developers are more obligated to release those PlayStation exclusives on M...

As great as this sounds, it seems more beneficial to Microsoft than Sony. By Sony agreeing to this, developers are almost obligated to put every online PS4 game from Sony's system on Microsoft's system, leaving Sony without many reasons for consumers to choose their platform. Once that happens or once Microsoft are given some form of air to breathe, they are going to use it to their advantage and break their competition at the knees.

This strategy sounds just like XNA...

Huge mistake by Microsoft. Sony us basically going to extract every bit of talent from these guys, something Microsoft did not focus on very much at all. Remember Milo?
