Good review. Although the map/menu selections aren't "instantly transported." There's a 4-5 second delay on the map, then a very brief load screen.

The Shinobu levels are a tad frustrating, but there's a TON of potential there. If Suda retires Travis, NMH3 with Shinobu would be absolutely badass.

Sure you can.

Target had it on sale for $29 before Christmas. ; )

Y'know a good way to not be accused of fanboy/console bias? Don't write biased and/or stupid op/eds, which IGN has done with some regularity.

They've released a few on their Wii channel, and have rightly been castigated for some very poorly thought out articles (one stating Nintendo is lazy, even if most of what is mentioned isn't new for Nintendo; the other stating a downloadable game is better than NSMB because -- wait for it -- it has more levels).

Here's an idea...

The only reason I'd question that is because of the sheer number of first-party games we've seen out of Nintendo already. Two 3D Mario platformers in one gen is a first for them. Two Metroids, plus a compilation? And then there's the biggest gun, Zelda. This late in the Wii's life cycle, I doubt Nintendo would put the time in for another LoZ.

So why not release a new console if they've saturated the current one? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a new IP like Dynamic Slash...

Yeah, the Trilogy was marketed as a "collector's edition." It was fan service to a very narrow audience -- Retro fanboys who were interested in buying the first two games again just for the updated controls. People like me.

Corruption sold what, 1.5 million copies or so? Nintendo wagered there were probably half a million or so who would buy all of the games again. Looks like they were right.

lol

Well put.

There are some layers of subtlety with social criticism and outright satire, but it's all wrapped up in the equivalent of a very well done B-movie. Think Tarantino.

On the original X-Box? Really?

The top-tier GC titles gave XB titles a run for their money (and multi-plats like NFS:U looked phenomenal across the board).

For once, clock speed may actually be relevant here, because we can compare a company's tech based on the same (or very similar) architecture -- the GC's "Gekko" was clocked at 485 MHz, while the Wii's "Broadway" CPU was clocked at 729 MHz, 50% faster. Combine that with a 50% faster GPU on Wi...

I'm kinda conflicted on this game. On one hand, I really want to get it just to see exactly what a big budget, third-party title can achieve on Wii. OTOH, I'm not sure if this game will really be something I like.

(Plus, RS2 is on the horizon...)

I want to see what the marketing looks like. It sure looks like Capcom put a AAA-level of effort into the title, and they've already gotten great sales in Japan (they're probably turning a profit from here on out). So will Cap and big N call it a day, and think "eh, we'll give it a little push, but MH is just too Eastern for the U.S. market," or are they going to pull out all of the stops?

Well put.

I don't understand the people who just want a Wii that outputs in HD.

Why? I don't want a slightly modded version of the Wii. It's fine as-is, hasn't even truly been pushed...

[spoiler-y]

There are some valid points of criticism in this.

But I think it honestly misses out on some of the plot in both games; Suda's games require a bit more effort to "get," and both NMH have as much to say as Killer 7, IMO.

The first game was about MUCH more than "laughing at geek obsessions while loving them." It was a "path to being number one" quest, but look at who you fought, a veritable "who's who?" ...

It was marketed as a collector's edition. And Nintendo said on launch it "would be limited availability."

I don't know why people are freakin' out on it. Everyone who paid attention knew about it.

This was a game for the Prime junkies (like me) out there. People who already blasted through the GC games but...

"Sometime between the cheerleaders and the giant robot fight, I gave up on NMH2 making sense."

C'mon. Anyone getting NMH2 should've given up on it making sense the moment it was announced. The first one didn't make a lot of sense, either.

But I sympathize with this reviewer, because it has taken awhile for me to warm up to the game, too. Part of it is only having a menu/map instead of a sandbox (it just helps to have...

The combat is fairly straightforward, but it's deceptively deep.

You get sword slashes (A button) and punch/kicks (B trigger), but your stance dictates whether they're high or low (depending on how you hold the remote). Add a left/right evade, block, charged attack, selecting the right beam katana for each stage, and the gestures for wrestling throws and beam finishers...and there's a lot more complexity than just button mashing.

IMO, of course.

Both games are laugh out loud funny, IMO.

The third and fourth bosses made me crack up. Great one liners.

"You're gonna fight me with your hoes?"

"You've got to read it out loud, just for lulz!"

It's like Tarantino's "Kill Bill." People either love it and think it's genius, or despise it.

Personally, I love it, and it's growing on me (not enough to say it's better than the first, but it's getting close the further I get into the game).

The Prime Trilogy is marvelous, but I'm not sure it belongs on the list. A good chunk of people already had all three Prime games and that was enough for them. Nintendo released the trilogy as a limited-run collector's edition, and it's almost sold out. So the people who wanted it certainly got it.

Conduit is kinda hard to recommend at this point. When it was released, it was the best online shooter on Wii. But it's been surpassed by COD:MWR, which doesn't have any of the on...

Probably the best review I've read for the game.

The bosses aren't quite as memorable this time around. But the more I play NMH2, the more I think that it was intentional. TT was only out for a good time in the original, his motives were simple, and he was fine shooting the breeze with fellow assassins.

This time he's out for revenge, and the assassins are also out for him (he's not just another assassin, he's a local legend).

NMH2 is growing on me...b...
