lol, I'm all for it. We should start a petition to Ubisoft.
...hey, ANY marketing is good.
This guy just makes way too much sense. Doesn't he know gaming is supposed to be about fanboy-ism now?
[/sarcasm]
You can really tell how much this guy loves what he does. In addition to giving great details on his own game, he's probably the ONLY gaming industry person I've read who actually understands what "successful sales" would be to a game like MadWorld. Someone buy that man a cigar.
In motion, this game looks smoother than Barry White singing in a vat of Jello.
Also, for anyone who hasn't clicked the link...minor spoilers throughout, obviously. You get more details on the guns.
Yeah...of all the previews in this RS2 deluge of information, this one sticks out like a sore thumb, as if they didn't even play the game.
But eh, there's always going to be a few outliers. We'll be able to judge for ourselves soon enough, anyway.
Well put, Arius.
However, I think the whole "realistic visuals" thing is a bit of a nebulous concept. Metroid Prime and Halo are considered core games, but the visuals are sci-fi, not "realistic" like COD4. But I'd wager a lot of people would say "Halo is realistic, Mario isn't." IMO, they'd only be half right.
Heck, I remember with Zelda people were saying "I'm so glad LoZ:TP is going back to a realistic style," and I was l...
Funny how that's working out, isn't it? ; )
sinncross -- Sure, it could be quite different. If the Sony wand uses the Eye camera to track its position, you're talking a bit of a different ball game because you're bringing in the refresh rate of a camera.
One of the reasons Nintendo passed up Natal-esque motion control? Latency from using a camera.
RS2's gameplay is pretty darn quick. The Wand hasn't even been released with its first gen launch titles to test its capabilities and let devs figure it out. Mea...
This game looks awesome sauce. Day one.
They've spent a good long time trying to nail Motion Plus; it may be a bit of a hassle to try to port it over. Vandenberghe said Natal would be problematic (unless there's a controller with a thumbstick option), and near 1:1 fidelity with Sony's wand may be difficult, too (just look how long it has taken devs to really GET Nintendo's motion controls).
Vandenberghe is a cool cat. I like that he isn't close minded on the possibilities of RS. That said, Ubi said this one game will stay Wii exclusive. It could be hard to nail motion controls with Natal or the wand right now (just look how long it took to really GET Wii controls for most third party devs). Now RS3...
Overall, RS2 looks positively badass. You can tell they really put a lot of work into this.
Nintendo knows that Zelda has a loyal following, and that following loves the old games and still wants to play them.
One of the things that I think every LoZ game has nailed is pacing. It's a small detail, but it's what hooks you. It's why I can pull up a new game for OoT on my Wii menu screen and get caught up in playing the game for the first few hours (again). The progression curve is just about perfect, all the way up through Twilight Princess (even if the level of diffic...
There was never anything scarier pressed to a disc than Driv3r.
Nintendo advertised NSMB because it's a Nintendo game.
Publishers exist for a reason, not just to have their names on the box.

I don't know where the idea originated that every third party game is supposed to be marketed by the console maker.
As for any Sony trash talk...like any trash talking, it's full of sound and fury, signifying noth...
HVS announced Gladiator A.D. alongside Grinder. When everyone else was thinking Grinder would be awesome, I was honestly looking forward to Gladiator A.D. more.
Motion-Plus enabled gladiatorial combat? Online? With some RPG elements tossed in and some separate branching single player stories? Gimme THAT.
Now HVS has thrown online out, ditched M+ and dumbed the motions down to the point where the game will probably play better with the classic controller.

So what types of games is this guy expecting from third parties? Stuff like THQ's Deadly Creatures or Platinum's MadWorld, niche titles that just don't appeal to a wide audience, and titles that aren't anywhere close to AAA-level?
Yay for mediocrity? Or shovelware?
'Cause if there's one thing third parties haven't done on Wii, it's the big-budget, high-quality titles the 360 and PS3 get (if you make narrowly targeted niche titles, those are the types of sales you'l...
"The seamless concept extends out of your travels through the world and into the battle system. In most Japanese RPGs, entering battle means a transition to a special battle screen. Although Takahashi didn't mention Final Fantasy XII, Xenoblade's battle system looks more like that game. You see your enemies in advance, and fight them directly on the field of play. You control one character, with two other party members driven by AI. Your character will attack automatically, allowing you ...
lol
I completely understand. I think I can safely say without any spoilers that the first part is just stuff you've probably already seen (the motorcycle part, then the aftermath of it), but then it goes into a little training tutorial. I think you'll like what you see when you play it.
Heck, I'd buy this game just for a Western-inspired FPS, 'cause it looks like Ubi nailed the controls. The swing mechanics look just as good, though. I can't wait to make up my ow...
Mostly cinematic stuff. I'm more interested in the in-game graphics, like the part where you're dragged along behind the motorcycle. The Lyn engine puts out some really nice effects.
Attaching that image didn't work, so I just edited the link in.
Anyways...this is just too much win.
