lol
Priceless.
You getting it?
I may end up buying it (the feds took all my spending cash right now). If I do, it'll probably end up like COD:MWR. I didn't expect to really play that game much. Maybe 20 hours, tops. My in-game tracker says I've just gone over 4 days. I'll hit 100 hours soon. And if MH is as deep as the review says, I could easily do that in Tri.
There are just too many good games out right now. I'd really like to buy MH:Tri, but I don't have enough time to dedicate to it to get all that the game has to offer. But I'm leaning...
Yep. Corruption absolutely spoiled me. Retro absolutely NAILED the controls, and everyone has been copying ever since.
One thing worth mentioning, though, are the Move demos. There was lag and reticle drift in the shooters. There's a learning curve with all new hardware, and there could very well be a lot of PS3 fans wondering what the big deal is about when they play with COD3/RS controls in 2010.
(And there's still a question mark on what Move's niche will be. ...
Conduit's art style is what dragged it down. There was some impressive tech powering that game, but it means nothing when you're looking at boring corridors.
But I never had a problem with its framerate. It was a pretty steady 30 FPS for me throughout.
lol
Sadly, bob, I don't think a lot of people know that.
For anyone interested in some light reading, fyzxwhyz is a Treyarch dev who posts over at neogaf. For the relevant part about the COD engine, see post #1520:

Yes, you read that right. A modified Q3A engine. And people wondered why the HD consoles didn't even output COD4...

(Why bring up 3D Dot Heroes? "Hey, lets talk about a PS3 exclusive in the Nintendo podcast." "Great idea!")
Pretty much my opinion, too.
Nothing tops a mouse/keyboard. Nothing. But the remote/nunchuck is the next best thing.
Dual analog has always been a gimped scheme for FPS. That's why you hear terms like "aim assist," "auto aim," "sticky aiming," "bullet curving," etc. etc. etc. attached to DA (to be fair, a little tinkering happens in most shooters, it's simply a lot more prevalent in DA schemes just to make the games playable...
I haven't really had any trouble finding matches in MWR.
Didn't have much trouble finding matchines in Conduit, either, but it took longer for the matches to load up, and then you had to worry about the spawning glitch.

EA's John Riccitiello has said Wii games cost 25% to 33% as much to make as PS3 or 360 games.
If you had to sell one million on Wii, with similar dev costs as PS2 games, a LOT of game developers would have been out of business last gen.
Hence the update, with Nintendo saying "no, you misheard, you do...
With pic two...I guess if you're gonna copy, Phendrana Drifts is a good source.
I can't in good conscience buy this game on day one. Can't. I'll have to read other's experiences online. If HVS fixes the glitches and keeps out the hackers, plus adds some better-designed maps, I'll consider it.
I don't understand Ubi. They got help from none other than Retro studios to make this game. Nintendo gave 'em a Motion Plus bundle deal. Vandenberghe's team delivered a very good game.
...so Ubi stealth releases the game with a few TV ads late at night on Comedy Central.
Great job, frogs. You really dropped the ball on this one.
That said, I expect RS2 will do fine over the long haul. Probably not crack a million, but around 400K lifetime or higher....
Oh, there's an even better one:
"The swordplay controls are initially a unique novelty, but they generally work well and get out of your way..."
Really, Casamassina? The sword controls are a tolerable novelty that "gets out of your way"?
:blinks:
IT'S A FLIPPING SWORDFIGHTING GAME! The sword controls are the main event, not something that "gets out of the way"!
Sounds about right. They launched Mario Galaxy in Japan on 11/1/07 and the US on 11/12/07.

New Super Mario Bros. launched around the same November dates in 2009.

Besides what has already been mentioned, the two quotes that really stick out to me:
"...and while it's definitely a superior experience on the Wii, Red Steel 2 offers nothing new or unique to set it apart from other shooters."
(Really? Nothing new or unique? Show me another game that has RS2's sword controls. None exist. That sets it apart.)
" I was sick of swinging my sword only to have the camera yank toward the sky instead of performing a...
Sony: "Core gamers look down their nose at Wii..."

...which is why they're...copying...its...cont rol scheme...?
I mean...seriously? Is this their marketing logic flow chart?
Belittle ----> Copy ----> Belittle some more ----> ? ----> PROFIT!
I'm a huge Prime Trilogy/Retro Studios fanboy...but this is the game I've been waiting for since 1994. It's the Super Metroid style translated into 3D (with camera angles that still suggest the old school 2D style of play). The GBA games were fantastic, but I've been waiting for a home console version to push the R&D1-style games forward. And if it's 30+ hours? Big time win.
(That said...there appears to be some iffy fact checking on this one. Every other outlet says Sam...

Word.
The brush works way better with the remote, IMO. The waggle attacks aren't as good, but once you get the beads, you at least don't have to worry about sketchy timing on your attacks.
I prefer Okami on the Wii. The brush alone is worth the price of admission. Never had any problems with it.
Things that I want more than split screen:
-- No online spawning glitches
-- Better policing for hackers
-- Better maps
-- More open environments in single player (less linear corridor shooting)
Split screen is the last thing I'm worried about, TBH. There are other things HVS needs to fix from the first game. I hope they do. Still have my collector's edition TCon. Do it right this time, HVS.
"Corrupt" children? What, are we in the Victorian era or something?
Can't be "corrupting" those fragile young minds with video games, after all. Have to let wall-to-wall graphic violence on television and internet porn do it first.
[/sarcasm]
I was "corrupted" by the Sears catalog. True story.
Heh, I haven't traded my GS "collector's edition" one, either.
Still pop it in from time to time. Some of the online maps really are well designed (a little claustrophobic for some after playing other modern shooters, but I dig it; you can tell the guys at HVS loved their late 90's PC FPS).
