"Normally, we create the video sequences, and these sequences are expanded. But this time we started with the game structure. And then with the video sequences. So this time it was reversed."

Good. I loved LoZ:TP, but it was well within the established norms of the series. It's time to switch the classic game structure up a little bit.

I can't wait to see what the com...

Why does anyone listen to this @$$hat?

"Oh noes! Sales are down after a record holiday season!"

...well, yeah. You don't think a ridiculously big holiday season cannibalized some of the sales for ensuing months? You don't think systems that have been out this long (and have had price cuts for a while) won't sell quite as well as when they were novel?

This isn't really news. Of course they've been working on a new console. Do you think their main brain trust for hardware design has just been sitting on their thumbs since 2006? C'mon.

As for when we'll see it...I could see it being unveiled at the next E3. Not this one (too much on their plate -- 3DS, Zelda, TLS, Xenoblade, Project Sora, Retro's game), but by next year, they'll have fired all of their big guns.

Sadly, I don't really think it's that surprising, Spoony. Third parties bet the farm on 360 and PS3. Rather than admit they weren't quite right in their predictions (to be fair, it's not like they haven't sold a buttload of games on the HD consoles), they're just acting like the Wii is some strange outlier that isn't worthy of their time.

The only third parties that seem to show any care are the ones Nintendo reached out to -- Tecmo/Team Ninja fo...

Doesn't make any sense, though. At least with Natal, people are a little more realistic; they get that it'll have to be something very different because of the camera latency issues. With Move? There was a ton of buzz when they showed off the games, but watch the Move demos, and you can see unread motions and lag all over the place (the PS eye tracks movement for it, and it apparently has its own lag issues).

It's all stuff that was impressive...in 2006. When ...

Really? The guy with the Blackberry habit and an iPod jones wants to lecture about videogames?

To be fair, this is common b.s. among politicians. Videogames are an easy target. It's just even more transparent with Obama. C'mon, man. You don't wear the faux-Luddite thing too well. You've got Jay-Z on your iPod, for Christ's sake.

What bob said. The lone third-party game you could call "AAA" on Wii is MH (and even then, it's taking a lot of heavy lifting from Nintendo here in the West for it; and MH has always been a niche game to begin with).

Third parties may have poisoned the well on Wii. They bet on PS3 and 360, and put their resources into those consoles. It usually takes 2 to 3 years at least to build premium software from the ground up; they thought the Wii would be a fad, assum...

I absolutely can't wait for Other M.

First proper third-person 3D 'Troid? Check.
Back in Yoshio Sakamoto's hands? Check.
Some first-person action? Check.
Interesting control scheme? Check.

Super, super hyped.

Best reason to not be a biased fanboy? Simple. You miss out on too many great games. Why miss out on Metroid: Other M, Halo: Reach or Killzone 3? Every console has great games.

As Scissor said...MadWorld's art style was pretty much the only noteworthy thing from that game. Best of luck to Kamiya, but I don't think Platinum will exactly fall apart here.

Good point. These could go the way of Zangeki no Reginleiv. There's no guarantee that they'll come to US/EU.

But premium JPRGs aren't easy to find, so I don't think Nintendo would just give up on localizing them. I'm hoping for firm release dates at E3...

I just don't understand fanboys. Perhaps there's some revisionist history, too. The NES always gets a spot in lists like this, but what was Nintendo really doing different then compared to now? They're still making pick up and play games; that's what they're best at. People act like Nintendo was making God of War-type games once upon a time. That's never who they were.

Eh, let 'em. SMG has some of the most disgustingly good level design ever pressed to disc, and the sequel looks like it might even be better. If they choose to ignore it, it's their loss.

When a "down" year is still your third most profitable ever...you're doin' something right.

"It hurts me to put this (the Wii) on the list, but I can't deny that Wii is one of the six most important consoles of all time ever. I still despise the sickeningly contrived rebirth of Nintendo, but the company's new approach to gaming (which is now over three years old) is undoubtedly having a major influence on the games of the future."

Between this, TLS and MH:Tri, the Wii is going to get HUNDREDS of hours of gameplay (and that's without even considering the first-party heavy hitters).

Love the screens. Looks like a huge game.

Truth.

Miyamoto-san is a brilliant designer. And what is really amazing is the breadth and scope of his work. From something epic like Galaxy, to something casual like Wii Sports, to something thoughtful like Pikmin.

Indeed.

This "article" doesn't make much sense: "Here is the way gamers should look at the Natal and the Playstation Move. It's a way to get rid of their Wiis."

I mean...really? Why the constant barrage of hate? If you don't want a console, don't get it. Simple.

So far this year, the Wii has gotten Sky Crawlers, No More Heroes 2, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Red Steel 2, and Monster Hunter: Tri.

Plus Cave Story and Rage of the Gladiator on WiiWare.

If your console is gathering dust, you haven't been paying attention to recent releases. The Wii has had game droughts, but 2010 has been a good year, and the first-party heavy hitters haven't even dropped.

"It’s Nintendo’s first full-year annual decline in six years, but is also the third most profitable year in the company’s records.

"The main cause for the numbers, according to the firm, was cuts to the price of Wii hardware as well as a lack of triple-A software releases for the format."
