Jessica Simpson as Samus Aran.
I just died a little inside.
Looks sharp. When all is said and done, this may give the Galaxies a run for their money for best-looking Wii game.
The orchestrated theme is just...yeah. Wow. My hype meter is frickin' blown for this game.
Other M is huge for me. It's the first proper third-person Metroid to get a console release since 1994. There are very few games I buy on day one, but I've had this one on reserve for months.
(And seriously...we all know Zelda is coming. It's the worst-kept secret in gaming. That's gotta make the top 10.)
I think Craig Harris at IGN said that he saw details in writing about Metroid: Dread in the past...and I don't think Sakamoto has corrected him. So it probably IS the sequel to Fusion, but Sakamoto wanted to fill in the plot holes between Super and Fusion, thus Other M.
What I'd love to see is a WiiWare 2D Metroid -- an update of Return of Samus (like the enhanced GBA remake of the original Metroid).
Not only that, just look at the software. The games that get the most love on the PS3 and 360 are usually shooters, and FPS was PC-centric pre-Halo.
Nintendo, by contrast, has had a lot of success with more "traditional" console games -- 2D stuff, platformers, etc.
Good info. Interesting stuff on him working with Hiroshi Yamauchi, and his effect on Miyamoto's career. Who knows if it would've all turned out differently with someone else in a managerial position?

What bob said.
And how the heck did he end up with two bubbles? For telling the truth?
And it IS the truth. A Treyarch dev by the name of fyzxwhyz posts over at neogaf. Straight from the horse's mouth about the COD engine:
"Cod4 Wii, like all call of dutys (except maybe the portables) runs on a heavily modified quake 3 arena engine. That engine was itself a descendent of Doom and Wolfenstein 3d. (There are still referenc...
Games are like anything else; not everyone ages well.
I'm a huge Metroid fan, but I think the original is in the same boat as Kid Icarus -- a game too ambitious for its time and hardware.
But 'Troid got its legendary status because the SNES was powerful enough to realize the developer's vision. KI never got that benefit...so I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a new one. But honestly, I'd rather see a 2D WiiWare game first.
If it weren't for these guys, I would've given up on Wii online FPS. The Conduit was a glitch fest, and I thought that might poison the well for other devs (not to take anything away from HVS; they made a valiant first effort, but it appears they rushed it out the door).
Treyarch's COD4 port, though, is fantastic. Yes, it lacks voice chat and ground war...but everything else is there. Plus fully customizable controls. I've put over 120 hours into MWR, and ...
Yep. If anything were to create a "crash" in videogames, it would be too much "me too" content. Just look at the stagnant state of PC gaming.
But I do think Natal and Move could be good for Microsoft and Sony, because it does make them stretch themselves.
It's odd, because Sony seemed to "get" this last gen. Sure, they had GTA exclusivity for awhile, but what really kept the PS2 afloat was that it had something for everyon...
Twilight Princess is, IMO, the most misunderstood Zelda ever made...at least from the perspective of its plot. There's obvious depth to it, but it seems like most people have overlooked what is suggested and only paid attention to the in-game text. The way Link and Midna's relationship is a mirror to Zant and Ganondorf's (in both cases, someone is being used for ulterior motives), the corrupting influence of power (the only person fit to wield it is the one who doesn't seek ...
The second and third screen shots on the top row should put a rest to all of the "it's 2D" comments we've seen (even from people who have played the game themselves). Just because the auto camera frames the action in third person as a side scroller in some places doesn't make it a 2D game; switch the camera to FP (point at the screen) and you can see its 3D design (in this case, for a hallway).
It's such a simple idea, I'm surprised no one thoug...
From the previews, the controls are hold the remote sideways, then point at the screen at any time to go into FP view. So you're allowed to choose; it's just a matter of which view will work best for certain circumstances (you can only fire missiles in FP).
But this is Sakamoto's team, and all they've ever done is third person 'Troid. We've got an excellent collection of FP Metroid with the Prime Trilogy, so I'm down for some third-person action....
Well said, Millah.
Those still left from the original R&D1 (Sakamoto's crew that made Super) are in charge; it's their overall vision. Team Ninja is there to help them make a 3D game (as Sakamoto's team has never done one before).
D-Rockets are doing the cinematics; all three of them together are Project M.
But it's Sakamoto-san's baby. And it's the game I've been waiting for since 1994.
I seriously wonder how many viral posters are on here. Some of this stuff is just too foolish, even for rabid fanboys. But who the heck are they preaching to? Thinking they're going to win over people who own other consoles by...insulting those consoles?
Anyways...Nintendo is going to murder my wallet this summer. I haven't bought Galaxy 2 yet, but I will. S&P2 may not be day one, but I'll certainly get it. Then there's Other M...
shazui123 -- Seriously?
I mean...really?
You want to knock Mario down because of...story? That's like blaming Madden for not having a compelling narrative.
Some videogames are made with the GAME part in mind. And I'm thankful for that. Not all videoGAMES need to ape movies, fer Chrissakes.
"Forcing" Mario? No more than COD, NFS, Madden, GTA, MoH, FF, etc. are "forced" on gamers. Go ahead and l...
The scale of this game is just epic. And it's not just "here's a big mountain that you can just look at with nothing past it." The overhead views show huge explorable areas, there are bridges far off in the distance that it looks like you can cross, etc.
One heck of a comment from Monolith Soft's Tetsuya Takahashi, about the map (the land itself is the bodies of the two gods shown fighting):
"From one end to the other, they're...
Yep. Nintendo apparently owns an 80% stake of Monolith Soft.

Something else to consider why you don't exactly see many games of this TYPE on PS3/360 -- cost.

Saying a Super Mario platformer is "too cartoony" is like saying "man, what's with all of these guns in COD?"
