Looks like a GC game? OK, lets take a look. Here are some GC graphics.

A list aiming to be "a definitive version of our repeating (Nintendo) favorites"...and no mention of Zelda or Metroid?
Yet they include "rhythm action games"?
Really?
"The aesthetics are the same as we've seen in most of the Metroid series, especially the Primes."

Well, no. Not at all. Prime was all about lush environments. Other M is confined to one ship apparently (like Fusion).
Hmm. I kinda like it.
"The game takes place on a single, giant Galactic Federation vessel – but this contains a huge variety of locations, each with different environments, unique flora, fauna and enemies."

We've been Fusion-ed!
: P
I was kinda hoping for Samus to get another planet to blow up, but I suppose beggars can't be choosers.
Why must you be so far away, Aug. 31? Why?
I've been on a Metroid-a-thon in anticipation, so I haven't played MWR in awhile.
Right before I started the Prime Trilogy, I did start a new profile and put in a few hours, though. Got my k/d up to 1.9, then gradually fell back, lol. That wasn't too long ago, and I didn't have any trouble at all finding matches with a full boat. Lotsa people still playing. I might boot it back up if they do another double XP weekend.
lol, ouch!
To be fair, though...it looks like HVS really did just rush this one out.
Heh...what's funny is that I completely agree with you...and I also still have my old 32X with Doom, lol.
It's interesting to watch how Nintendo has integrated motion controls. Take out Wii Sports (which was just a tech demo, really), and it's been a gradual evolution. LoZ:SS looks to be the culmination of all they've learned from building motion controls into their games as an integral part of the experience. Will Sony and Microsoft follow suit? It'll...
It's because fanboyism (to crib from Einstein) is an infantile disease. For some reason, people can't just STFU and enjoy what they have. Maybe it's because of some strange need to validate their own choice in gaming consoles. Who knows?
I played mainly Sony last gen, and mostly Nintendo this gen. But I never felt any need to bash on N when I was playing my PS2.
Not a bad list. I'd put MPT at #1 or #2, though (c'mon, it's three awesome games in one). And since Mario is well represented with Galaxy 1 and 2, exchanging MH:Tri, RS2 or S&P2 in place of NSMB would be cool by me.
+1 to Arius.
Every game is a "cash in." Publishers put out games to see what sticks; what sells gets sequels. Usually ad nauseum. That's the nature of the business.
Goldeneye is as much a cash-in as any other game. Except that this is definitely a game that people have been anticipating for a looooooong time.
lol, that's what I was thinking.
For once, he actually prefers the Wii controls, too.
"One interesting change was that certain weapons, such as missiles, were deactivated until later in the demo when Adam re-allowed their usage. According to recent news from the developers, later in the game Metroid: Other M is much like the original titles where you are given access to weapons once you obtain them, so long-time fans who are worried that the game will 'hold their hand' too much shouldn't be worried."
----------------------------- ---------------- ...
Man, I had resolved to keep myself on a budget and not by any other games until Other M drops.
But I'm sorely tempted here. The Wii is perfect for light gun/rail shooter games, and it's gotten some solid ones...but this looks like it's THE definitive one for the console.
Precisely. There's elements of art within videogames (which are, of cousre, interactive entertainment).
People think it's insulting to call them "games," as if that's demeaning. So therefore, they must be "art." The things is, the best videogames aren't one or the other; they contain elements of both. I happen to think the best games lean more heavily on being GAMES, though. I have to want to play them and interact with the world laid ...
VideoGAMES. What sets them apart is the "game" part. They're interactive.
You watch movies. You observe a painting. You listen to music. You certainly internalize some meaning from them...but you don't reach through the White Album and move George's fingers, or take Puzo's place and change a scene in Godfather, or move things around in a Renoir.
It's easy to make a case for games like Okami or Odin Sphere or Muramasa to be a...
Oh. Dear. God.
No.
PLEASE NO.
That's something I've wondered about. This one could end up being like Super, where the first time through (without really looking for sequence breaking) is pretty lengthy. Then shorter each time after.
I wouldn't mind either way. 6 hours long or 30, I'll be playing the hell out of this one.
@SilentNegotiator -- It's not cherry picking, it's picking FROM THE SAME GENRE OF GAME. We're talking about an FPS here. Hence picking an FPS game on the GC. I thought that was pretty obvious.
(And you managed to pick the most horrible picture of Twilight Princess possible and a very blurry RE4 pic while you were at it.)
