Zelda won't be released until next year, though. Not a reason to buy a Wii THIS year.
Love to see Other M getting some more props. This is, without question, my most anticipated game of the year.
Nintendo is just now showing a real sword fighting game with Zelda, and it won't drop until next year.
Everyone is thinking only in terms of graphical horsepower. Nintendo has repeatedly gone the other direction and focused on the controller. I don't think it's a secret why they're bundling M+ with all new Wii consoles now. There's a LOT more they can do with motion controls. The era of waggling is over.
After Zelda got bumped, I was thinking 2011 would be it for Wii, but y'know, if history is indication, you'll be right.
The DS launched in 2004, then the Wii in 2006.
The timeline would work out for a new home console in 2012; they'd announce it at E3 2011.
They've been quiet on everything besides the gameplay (we've seen precious little of the actual game in motion; we've all been pretty much basing our opinions on a demo thrown together for E3 that most likely won't even be in the final game). And they were fairly thorough in pointing out that the game can't be played without Motion Plus, so I'd be shocked if they don't have a bundle.
...of course, there's also the outside chance that they Twil...
Why does August have to be so far away?
The more I see of this game, the more hyped I get. It won't be GOTY for everyone, but it probably will be for me.
Not necessarily. The guy in the first clip makes sure to go out of his way to praise the controls after the 9:30 mark.
They designed the whole game around these controls; that's why the hallways are so angular and that's how you can have such precise platforming action (analog is smoother, but digital is quicker and more immediate).
There's some clumsiness in the second clip, but keep in mind that these people are playing the game for the first t...
Same here. They took TP's "mature Link," added in WW's shading, and put ALttP's color palette on top.
It's very, very, very slowly growing on me, but I'm not wild about it.
That said, if they bump this game the whole way to holiday 2011, they'll have a lot of time to polish this, and maybe they'll take the painterly aesthetic further, which I'd like to see (they're following the TP character proportions too close...
I absolutely LOVED Twilight Princess...but if there's one chink in its armor, IMO, it's that the overworld was unwieldy. Big and epic...but you can only look through so many hidden caves to find...rupees. That won't even fit in your wallet.
Wow. One of 'em is an executive editor...who attended the biggest gaming expo of the year...making a video about the best announcement at said videogame conference among gaming's big 3...and his favorite thing about it was...
...ESPN.
Are you ****ing kidding me, man? Hand in your gamer card.
You only need one reason for why they "won" (if you can really "win" a conference; I've never seen medals given out).
The 3DS.
Remember how everyone said how third parties didn't like Nintendo? Yeah. Look how many of them are happy to be working on the 3DS. The hardware's power, and no glasses, has just hit a nerve.
Oh yeah, and then there was Kid Icarus...
Not going to happen for awhile. Nintendo has a history of waiting on the price of technology to catch up with consumer demand -- the Gameboy didn't go color for awhile, the DS stayed out there even though the PSP has a higher graphical ceiling, and the Wii hasn't been rushed out the door despite everyone saying they need to go HD. They know what they're doing. Obviously.
Since they don't seem too keen on 3D glasses, they'll be waiting until the technolo...
I read their interview with IGN, and they really seem to want to not be pigeonholed as kinda being Nintendo's token Western big gun. No one does 2D platforming like N, and they want to prove themselves. Have to admire 'em. They're going up against all of Nintendo's classic platformers.
The other interesting thing is that they were working on something else before DKC was suggested to them (when those three employees left in 2008). I wonder if they'll e...
I'm in the same boat. I want to absolutely love this new art style, but I'm not quite sold on it yet.
But it's Zelda. Nintendo doesn't even know how to make a bad one, so I'm sure they'll polish it up and win me over.
:sigh:
Again? I don't get it. 2D? You actually played the game and still think it's 2D? C'mon. You aren't restricted to a 2D plane.
You can run around in all directions at any time. This room?

The C2 footage on youtube walks over anything in the original. I read somewhere that they were aiming for 60 fps this time instead of 30, too.
I was ready to dismiss HVS with CoD and Goldeneye, but the vids have caught my attention.
The gameplay hands-on stuff has all been positive. Remarkably so, considering how some people have hated on the minimal motion controls in LoZ:TP.
I just hope they don't delay it all the way until the holidays next year.
lol
I know it's probably just one off-the-cuff moment, but he does really look like "WTF, guys?"
Here's some hands-on footage:

That completely walks on anything in the first game, IMO. And apparently Con2 runs at 60 fps.
This is gonna be tough. I can't justify buying three different FPS games this fall. But it's going to be hard to pick between this, Goldeneye and Black Ops.
Indeed. If anyone's Wii is "collecting dust" (a popular phrase these past few years), they haven't been paying attention.
(Btw, tried to reply in that PM, but N4G isn't letting 'em work right now.)
