I think it's a toss up between GE and COD. Treyarch has been getting better with each iteration of COD on Wii, and Eurocom did put out a decent game with DS:E. Con2 looks promising, but HVS has yet to deliver on the other developer's level.
Haven't you ever played Majora's Mask? Fought Link's Shadow in Zelda II? Bellum in LoZ:PH?
They set the game's events up as fallout from the succession of the thrown in the Twilight Realm. IMO, that's all they really needed, and Ganon felt tacked on; it's the biggest weak point in an otherwise sterling game.
Ninja Gaiden with Zelda TP's swordplay? No thanks. Pulling combos THAT fast wouldn't be practical with motion controls, IMO. We're already getting a sorta "Metroid Gaiden"-type thing with M:OM, and it looks fantastic, though, so Tecmo doing something else with Nintendo isn't out of the question.
Portal will never happen, so forget that. MGS and KH appear to have found a home on 3DS.
That leaves GTA, and I don't see it happeni...
Destructoid's Jim Sterling touched on this, and SE's comments about the difficulties in making an HD JRPG:

I'd be for leaving Ganon out. Zant was built up as a great villain in TP, but in the end was only a puppet. That diminished him, IMO, and kinda hurt the game.
Heh, further to bob's point:

I'm sure Nintendo would be quite happy with that, tbh. If the DS retains consumer loyalty, they're going to be bathing in a lot of money. We're talking powder on the desk, Babylon Nightclub, "what the heck are you doing with Gina?", Al Pacino in his prime with an M16/grenade launcher...
"Side-scrolling is back, in the awkward two-and-a-half dimensions well-known by N64 players.
"...even though running is more or less 2D, the battles are not. Enemies attack in three dimensions, and as a result, players have to try to aim with a D-Pad at enemies that aren’t exactly in any one of the four available directions.
"...Basically, the success of the story is going to make or break this game, because as far as I can tell, the gameplay i...
Good list...but Other M is not 2D. Watch the gameplay vids; Samus is not restricted to a 2D plane.

It's a mongrel of a game; digital controls and an auto camera scream 2D, but it's not.
I understand leaving GoldEye off, but I'd at least give it an honorable mention.

bob! Where the heck have ya been, man?
Yep. Wii-era Nintendo pretty much IS "old Nintendo."
I mean, just look at the releases for this fall/holiday -- Metroid (a decidedly old school 'Troid, at that), Kirby, Donkey Kong and some third party shooters acting as stand-ins for Contra.
I mean, we even got the first direct Mario platformer sequel since the NES era, plus a classic Castlevania prequel on WiiWare, PLUS Sakaguchi-san introducing a new RPG. It might as well be 1987, lol.
Can't argue with the bronze, silver and gold.
And that's one helluva top three.
Well...kinda hard to jiggle when you're in a suit of armor for most of the game.
Hmm, interesting bit about the arm canon shots. Good stuff. Big ups to Sakamoto-san about keeping Samus in her power suit. It would've been pretty disjointed to have her in the zero suit in every cut scene.
Could be. How many M+ golf games do people need?

This.
I still play the original Super Mario Bros. fairly often. At work, I catch myself playing google's version of Pac-Man. There's a reason we all used to stay glued to our televisions with these games and went through rolls of quarters just to play them in arcades.
Heh, I'm getting there, amigo. The combat has me sold, tbh. One problem I have with RS2 is the sheer volume of moves; if I leave it out of the Wii for two weeks, I have to reteach myself how to play. This Zelda doesn't look like that'll be the case. It's all about slashing through the open/weak spots of enemies.
The art style...well, I'm slowly warming to it. ; )
Bunny hopping is on top of my list. That's why I love COD4's HC modes.
Well yes, certainly playable. But the 1:1 movement doesn't mean much for combat. Watch any of the actual scenes where there's fighting, like:

Looks closer to RS2 (which is more like "1:practical"), in that respect, but with less ...
Umm...yes. Interference. Which is why every other hands-on and video has remarked on how well the controls work.
I'm a flat-out Prime fanboy, but this one is going to be a bit different. MPT was a slower, more methodical game. This one is all about Super Metroid's style of gameplay, but in 3D. Other M is going to be flat-out badass, but quite different from Prime/Echoes/Corruption.
