I love Naughty Dog and Sony, but I really hope this one crashes and burns. We need to signal to Sony that they can’t just flip a game that doesn’t need a remake and sell it for 70 dollars. This is the definition of lazy.
I realize that it had a real development team and cycle but that is the problem. Those talented devs could have remade a classic PS1/2 game or… even better… made new IP.
Or… hear me out… a high caliber rpg not bound to a movie franchise.
Doesn't matter if it's good. You should boycott it on principle for its manipulative BS. Play Diablo III again is you need your fix. This is exactly how they normalize this garbage, by attaching it to a decent product... at first, and then slowly stripping away the decent part so that you will pay to get it back.
Obviously this message isn't really meant for locomorales. For those of you who are still on the fence about this one, just stay away and leave this o...
I suspect that changing the order was necessary due to the size of the original game. Let's assume we make it all the way to the City of the Ancients in this title, which would have been the end of disc one in the original version. These are the locations they would have to try to cram into one game:
Chocobo Farm
Kalm
Junon
Coast de Sol
Mt Corral
Golden Saucer
Gongaga
Cosmo Canyon
Nibelheim/Mt Nibel

Competing with Game Pass shouldn't be the goal here. Microsoft is taking the exact same approach that Netflix took a few years ago and it is already starting to show. They are dumping massive amounts of capital into acquiring studios and developing games under the assumption that it will pay off if they can keep everyone attached to this new massive platform.
The problem is that Microsoft has to create a huge amount of compelling material now all the time or else they ...
It had potential, but that game was a mess at release. They just chopped out huge chunks of the plot to sell as DLC or spin into films and anime series. Story made almost no sense at the time and I bet even now with the DLC patched into the Royal edition it isn’t as good as it would have been if they had just let the Devs tell a complete story.
God I hope Sony (or anyone really) buys Square and gives all of the executives the boot. They are just the worst.
Maybe it’s just me, but 2022 doesn’t feel like much of anything… other than Elden Ring I guess.
Both of these consoles feel like they are releasing first party titles at a glacial pace. If we get God of War at the end of the year than that will be something. Horizon was pretty cool, but GT7 was kinda sad.
Maybe it’s just the lack of E3. It just feels like nothing is coming out soon.
100 percent this. I like Elden Ring but I have to say that the formula loses a little something with the open world format.
Bloodborne and Sekiro also felt like more original takes on the formula.
I was a lead designer too… until I took an arrow to the knee.
Elden Ring is going to be amazing. Just as amazing the day after it releases in fact. Don't pre-order guys. That's how Cyberpunk 2077 happened.
Can I be the first to say it? Fantastic Name!
I mean sure. But they do still need to use these studios to make games. At some point, all they are doing is competing with themselves. People will still want the hottest Sony and Nintendo exclusives. At best, they are paying an immense amount of money to maintain their position as it is now. If I am still brain dead enough to play a Call of Duty Game I now have to have an Xbox/Game Pass in addition to a Switch and a PlayStation. I don’t see people dropping Playstation so they can go get the ...
It is weird, right? What does this get Microsoft that they don’t already have. It really is just 70 billion to keep call of duty and Diablo off Playstation. I guess some people still play WoW?
“With a horrible understanding of basic facts”
What are you even talking about? Why does your bizarre obsession with a brand allowing you to lose all objectivity?
Let’s try basic Math. If three company’s all average one game a year, we have three games per year. If we remove two company’s, how many games do we get? Why would Microsoft want to make any more of these multiply million dollar exclusives than it has to?
Activision is one of those company’s that seemed to be so broken that I really don’t mind Microsoft stepping to try and revive some dying IP.
I do however agree with the notion that consolidation of the industry into the hands of just a few major players is bad news. The reason EA, Activison, and Ubisoft are so bad now is that they themselves acquired too much of a lead to keep the competition honest. What’s to stop Microsoft from becoming just as complacent once it has an ...
Personally, I have so many games on my own account that I have almost 100 percented but stopped due one trophy that just didn’t seem worth it. It’s not so much hard as aggravating. Dark Souls is the perfect example. Everything seems perfectly fair until you get to point of grinding for hours to get the Channeler’s Trident to drop. I want the challenge, but I refuse to sink hours of extra playtime into one or two achievements that don’t even reflect how I like to play the game. Give me more pl...
Probably
That sounds like it needs some quality editing. Even Chris Avelone can’t write something that’s engaging for that long.
Looks like another developer that needs boycotting. If you have to buy anything they publish, just do what I do and buy it used. At least you aren’t directly contributing to their profits that way. I think it’s worth doing with all the major publishers these days with maybe the exception of Capcom.
I see a lot of people on here complaining about those of us who are calling it a remaster and saying it isn’t worth 70 dollars. For the record, this is not the point most critics of this game are trying to make.
This is absolutely a bonafide remake. It does look great. It is also a huge waste of resources and time. Naughty Dog is too valuable of a developer to waste on remaking an already fantastic looking game.
Just play the highly acclaimed original tha...
