I am thinking that they are attempting to create a style that is as true to the original game as possible. It does look a little strange and I don't know if I am completely sold on it, but I would say that they are going for something deliberately cartoony but also hyper realistic. But hey, the last game that tried that was Mass Effect Andromeda and everyone loved that game.
Yes I did notice a lot of what appeared to be female human women in recent media output from the company. It's almost as if Ubisoft is trying to demonstrate to the world that they aren't a bunch of misogynistic weirdos after a bunch of high level employees got very publicly fired for sexual misconduct.
I liked it until the end. It was refreshing to have a combat system that actually felt challenging and thought provoking. If FFXVI can do that it will be a lot better than any of the main number titles we have seen in recent years.
I still feel like the current Square Enix is really bad at story telling. All of Remake's best moments involved situational dialogue that built off the original game's script. Completely new moments had that FVII compilation feel to them....
Its really simple.
Scenario A: Microsoft announces the price of the Series X. Playstation announces the price of the PS5 with the disc drive. XBOX undercuts Sony with the Series S, which is actually even cheaper to make than a regular XBOX ONE S. Sony then offers the digital-only PS5 at a huge loss to undercut Microsoft. The consoles release and the digital only version sells out immediately because of severely limited supplies. Everyone who wants a Playstation bites the b...
You have to figure that that statement about XBOX not talking next gen at TGS is just another bluff to try and bait Sony into announcing price first. If Sony doesn't say anything before then I guess Phil will talk about... Gamepass again? They got nothing else going. I suppose they could give themselves another phoney award. Or advertise more third party games that allegedly look slightly better on their bloated hardware.
I understand the sentiment, but the industry already has gone digital. Do you really think you play a copy of game like TLOU2 or Ghost without downloading a 100 gigabyte game directly onto a hard drive? Once the publisher shuts off the servers your discs are just coasters.
The real value in owning a disc is being able to lend the game to a friend. If you do this regularly with someone you can both save a lot of money. Otherwise, I would say to go digital just so you aren’t ...
Sony's approach sounds like a nice affirmation that next gen will continue to look alot like this gen; however, I always get nervous when I read, "foster communities and user engagement, while enhancing direct to consumer services that get closer to users."
Hopefully, it's just in there to appease investors and not a sign that they will start chasing the GaaS dragon that so many other company's are chasing. I am reasonably optimistic, but the emphasis...
Those faces are going to look more terrifying than ever before.
And the bugs just work!
I actually liked the battery life part. It presented a novel solution to the problem with stealth mechanics in games. In Deus Ex you can be invisible for as many times as your battery allows and so stealth because a finite resource that you can factor into your strategy for a level. Its better than just crouch and crawl until you screw up.
This is why we really need to start putting Square Enix on the same level as EA and Activision. They forced stupid monetization into Mankind Divided and killed its sales and instead of learning from their mistake, they mothballed a great single player franchise and forced the Dev to make GAAS garbage.
I’m a huge Sony fan, but I can see the logic in that. Switch is a handheld console first and foremost. The sales numbers on those are usually higher because they are cheaper and more family oriented. The holiday is a time for parents to buy something for their kids.
Sony will do well though. I just don’t see these two companies as direct competitors.
This guy knows his audience, I’ll give him that.
Just Imagine. We get a modern Space Simulator on Game Pass and then every month is a new paid DLC mission from Gemini to Apollo. For 19.99 you can get your Tom Hanks/ Jim Lovell skin...
You know... I originally meant that as a rant against Microsoft and Games as a Service, but if they did that I would probably cave and buy it.
That’s a shame. It’s one of the best games ever.
Ugh... sales are nice and all, but I’m tired of Microsoft and Sony beating around the bush on next gen. Just tell us the price already.
Polished isn't a word I would use.
If you think that's bad, imagine how long you will be waiting for a game developed with a new engine.
I think you're right for the most part. Half of it is just a huge vent for the cooling system. Not that that is a bad thing necessarily, but I like the look of the PS5's hidden cooling vents better. I just hope both systems are quieter this gen.
It's a dirty game they are playing for sure. They discontinued a more powerful piece of hardware to sell this at a lower price point, but they are still calling it next gen. I currently play on a PC with similar stats to this system, including the SSD. Its faster, but I wouldn't call it a generational upgrade over my base PS4.
Basically, Microsoft's big plan to stay relevant is to win the price war by not actually selling a next gen console. For 300, you can ha...
