As much I like S.T.A.L.K.E.R series I hope there will be no S2 because it would be straightforward console shooter - no doubts about that.
Personally I'm not looking forward to have Fallout 4 from Bethesda. Fallout 3 is bland FPS game with simple game mechanism and tons of hand holding. Typical game these days.
True. Mobile games like "King of Dragon Pass" is way better that what we have seen on newest consoles so far. KoDP is still amazing after ~15 years.

"Torment: Tides of Numenera" is most likely going to be amazing game just like "Planescape: Torment" is. Can't wait.
"Actions that truly and immensely change the way the game is played or how the story is told."
There are already that kind of games like Crusader Kings 2 and Planescape: Torment. I don't think there will be huge-budget games like that anytime soon; voice-acting for example is way too expensive.
Next game where choices actually matter could be Torment: Tides of Numenera. Lots of text instead of voice-acting.
Crusader Kings 2 - ...
> They would never have multiplat titles because everything released on it would be proprietary.
As far as I know all games released for PS and XBox are also 100% proprietary. There are some open source games available for PC but not many.
PS may use open source software but I don't think Sony shares anything with the community - or is there some place where we could download and read the source code they are using?
Sony or Microsoft doesn'...
I would vote "This War of Mine":

The game is targeted for adults, unlike Evil Within and other horror-games, so I guess that is one reason why it didn't get much attention. There are no many games that has truly a serious story li...
"Still think the modern gamer only cares about graphics?"
PS4 and XBox One is all about graphics - Nintendo is still about good games.
PC is about everything; good games, gameplay, graphics, innovations, etc.
Unfortunately this console generation has been all about graphics. I miss old days when console gamers were "gameplay > graphics".
Current console games feels like games I used to play with my Kaypro-II: https://www.youtube.com/wat... - straightforward and simple.
Even better it would be nice if they would get some experience with some more complex games; strategy, 4...
... and all simple and straightforward games for 90s/00s MTV generations. I hope console gamers will find strategy, 4X, simulations, etc. games some day.
Microsoft wants "vendor lock-in" as much as possible. They do what ever needed to eliminate the threat.
I hope Khronos and AMD keeps collaborating while working on OpenGL NG.

Nice discount. Origin has worked fine for me but unfortunately EA doesn't publish types of games I like. Origin uses Qt so points to them for that.
Steam does much more than sell games or has just bigger community. Valve is pushing gaming forward. There is no competition for them at the moment.
It would be great to see them doing something more complex games someday.
Looks great. The game is going to be absolutely enormous and full of details from micro to macro -level. There is no other game like that.
I own only a poor $35 Aurora ES. The ship is not good but the game has been already great fun.

I think he has valid points in the sense that there are way too much straightforward action games nowadays; lots of cut scenes, scripted moments, lots of hand holding, simple gameplay, etc. Typical AAA action game elements. He shouldn't complain about Uncharted 4 since Uncharted series has always been like that.

"Early access is not worth it, pay to play a pretty much guaranteed broken game?"
They are broken because they are in development. That is the whole point of Early Access. For indie developers Early Access gives needed money to make the game in the first place.
It is great to see that Kickstarter and Early Access has brought us arguably the best games this year.
There are plenty of great games in Early Access and helped many games to be better on release; ARMA 3, Wasteland 2, etc.
The problem is that there are lots of gamers who doesn't understand what they are doing.
That's why ...
DayZ: "We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle."
The game reminds me how much common AAA games has with C64 and MSX games in 80s; go forward, jump and shoot. It seems gamers generation after generation finds them interesting.
Uncharted 4 seems to be still very simple, scripted and contain lots of hand holding. That's fine since that is what Uncharted fans has played so far and that is what they likes.
As you of course already know Steam is for PC and Uncharted 4 is a typical console game; straightforward, simple gameplay, hand holding, tons of cutscenes and scripted action, etc. Unless console games are ported to PC I don't think you will these kind of games from there.
If you want to play RTS, grand strategy, 4X, simulation, deep RPG, MOBA, etc. _and_ console games, then PC is the only way to go.
Highly scripted linear corridor shooter. I'm wondering why so many gamers gets excited about these types of games.
It is not a huge surprise. All console games are about graphics but straightforward and simple game logic. TLOU, Tomb Raider, Uncharted -series, etc. are just action packed simple games. I thought console gamers already knows it and they are fine with it - otherwise they would buy a PC.

I hope we will see some gaming devices using this new chip. It is amazing how fast things progress.
