Please, juvenile children, get over yourselves. Kotaku is NOT required to be unbiased. It's a blog. What the hell did you expect?

To suggest that they are still sour over the blacklisting incident... I would be too. Do you really expect a blog who's job it is to dig for rumors and deliver the most likely to NOT be sour over getting blacklisted for performing their stated function? And what did Sony think would happen when they blacklisted Kotaku? When you are in a Mexican s...

@BattleAxe:

That's funny... cause the 360 fanboys think PS3 fans are the juveniles. And we don't have to go play a game online to show that. We just load up N4G...

As long as this leads into a free Sliver with multiplayer, I'll be happy. I will likewise be happy to pay for Gold if it still gets me first dibs on demos and features like last.fm and netflix. But for heaven's sake, give the silvers their multiplayer.

Dude... who cares. Is it that important to be certifiably HD? This is why our significant others roll their eyes when we insist on getting "2010 Edition: now with 20% more buzzwords"! This is a faux-principled argument... in that people don't really care that much.

You shouldn't be principled for the sake of being principled...

Agreed. I don't care if you are a PS3 fan or a 360 fan. I would MUCH rather have a game that runs at 60 fps than anything less. COD4 and COD:WaW are such visual-realism treats because the framerate came first. My hats off to them.

lol@liquifiedart: People with "principles" make me laugh. The only thing I have seen principles do for this world is organize people into frothing, unthinking mobs that lose sight of the important things.

I know Pachter has been wrong before. I out predicted him when he said 360 getting a 60 gig hard drive would make it out perform PS3 during that month.

I predicted that, since the average user doesn't pour over gaming blogs every day and wouldn't care about the improvement, 360 would see a minor uptick in sales, but not enough to over take the PS3 in that month.

I was right. PS3 still won that month, just like I said it would.

"If you pay for the service, what comes with it should not cost you extra though."

Faulty logic, and you know it. It would be NICE if that were true, but wishful thinking != the way it should be.

Actually, I have seen the guide running better since the downtime. It seems to be pulling down gamerpics better than before.

"Testing the waters" for digital is something they already did. There is plenty of content available for PSP online right now.

This isn't a test... this is them acting on the result of that test.

The way I see it, Natal, as a peripheral, competes with WiiFit and the Balance Board. If Natal packs in a game and launches at a comparable price to WiiFit, I won't be worried. But deviate from that and Natal might be in trouble.

Oh, and they should restrict supply, causing an artificial shortatge, just like WiiFit too </sarc>.

You know the answer... why 360 continues to sell...

Because Microsoft spent a billion (probably more) on supporting a replacement warranty. It would have been great to have a machine that was more reliable, but normal people don't really care about the console war and won't waste time obsessing over the criteria of "best".

If MS fixes the broken console, most people are happy. Only the people who still have a bone to pick with Microsoft would still obsess...

Sony painted themselves into this corner.

The combination of Blu-ray games and games that need installation has left PS3 in a feature-gridlock of sorts, unable to drop the Blu-ray drive or the hard drive.

All Sony can really do is cut the wireless networking out of the package, but that wouldn't do $100 worth of difference. They left themselves no flexibility, assuming everyone thinks "power = games".

Which is clearly does not.

Ah, it's refreshing to have someone willing to respectfully discuss and debate.

Yes, games can have large texture files, scale back the shaders, and bank the performance gains at the expense of disk space. I suppose if you make that case, Blu-ray offers more general flexibility to create larger worlds of lower fidelity (like Fuel for example), or smaller worlds of higher fidelity.

It's certainly a trade-off, but for the best looking games, the disk space correlation...

Yes, gaffyh. That is exactly what I'm saying.

For the majority of games, if you look at the actual textures, they are quite muddy. But after the right shaders and the right mapping techniques, they take on an "actual" texture that isn't possible with texture files alone.

The honest truth is that most people don't know that much about HOW visual effects are actually achieved. And even more are willing to assume Blu-ray has everything to do with that reali...

Or, ya know, we could do away with the Rah-Rah cheerleading and think like rational individuals...

Blu-ray is great for movies. But games? I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it: games don't look good because of huge texture files... they look good thanks to shaders.

For all intents and purposes, these days, there is very little correlation with the way a game looks and how much disk space it takes up. The processing power has SO much more to do with a game...

I do love my Halo, but I would agree that Xbox would be much worse off without it. Don't know about dead, but probably behind PS3 in sales.

Microsoft, turning up the heat on Blu-ray. I like to see a little competition after HDDVD went bums to the clouds.

Don't get me wrong... I can't wait for my Battlestar Galactica Blu-ray set.

That's the first thing I thought.

It boils me that some people are still obsessed with superiority studies. As if video game sites don't already have enough socially challenged dweebs arguing over what is considered "best".
