@Leon: For every 3 games Xbox 360 does right, PS3 just has to do 1 right? That's the definition of a double standard...
Good god. The fanboyism is deafening in here.
We are totally entitled to be critical of KZ2. We think it deserves it. No co-op, online or otherwise; a massive guerrilla hype machine you got all caught-up in; graphics-over-substance presentation. It's amazing you so quickly forget the reasons you hated on Halo 3. For everything there, Halo 3 has an collaboative level editor of sorts, online FOUR player co-op, full replays... I mean, damn, they did a lot of things right!

Halo certainly isn't the most influential, but several pieces are very note worthy. Halo pioneered the recharging health mechanic which keeps game play moving faster. Bash on it for being unrealistic, but for actaully playing the game, I love it.
Also, when people think of Halo, they think of the Warthog. It was a heavily physics driven vehicle, right down to floaty shocks that were just oh so much fun to "accidentally" barrelroll over a few opponents.

We can't tell who is winning because we can't agree on the criteria. Fanboys will only listen to the news that paints their preferred console as the winner and then engineer the criteria to take that into account. I do it too. We can't help it. But the fact is that the console war is better reflected in subjective terms, not numbers. We don't see the numbers that REALLY matter anyway.
So, game and let game, I say. I think 360 and PS3 pwn the pants off the traitorous Wii, an...
@Rucky: Oh, so if a site doesn't agree with what you think, it's biased? Maybe other sites have to be Sony-biased to prop up the PS3. Did you ever think about that?
Ahh thug, Sony's favorite demographic of yore.
ThanatosDMC: That's bullshit.
Microsoft spent an extra $BILLION to support a three year warranty. BILLION! Odds are you will NEVER see that much money added up over your entire lifetime. That's no small change, even for Microsoft. They screwed up, but then they stood behind their console and paid for the mistake. I find it amazing how quickly people spit on that fact because it's "Micro$oft". To complain about that is like finding a hair in your soup but instead ...
I mostly hear from people who claim the PS3 doesn't need saving and "know" that Killzone 2 "is" awesome based on beta testers' feedback. They spew propaganda like a militant revolutionary. Because they know something on that level is necessary to save the PS3. The game isn't even out yet. Honestly, the beta participants can't be considered unbiased because they got beta access as a "gift" of sorts.
Killzone 2 probably isn't going to be the greate...
I think he is the only guy who pays attention that closely. Honestly, his job as a dev with a reputation for tirades is to go on said tirades frequently.
I would just prefer he cut it out and get back to making damn games. Games speak louder than blog posts.
I can't say I put too much stock in a Maxim review, but if I had to pick someone who would go wackjob nutty for tech like the PS3, it would be a men's mag. Kinda surprising if you ask me.
I'm an unbiased gamer. And I will play any game. And I am prepared to like it or hate it. Odds are it will fall somewhere right in the middle. But I will NOT rationalize it into either extreme just because I have a bone to pick or it's a make-or-break game. That's just not ethical as a jou...
So, your concept of unbiased means it agrees with you? I don't think you should stray too far from OPM then. It might be catastrophic for your ego. In the meantime, let's build you a rubber room and keep you safe from everything that might disturb your cult-like beliefs.
You really need Killzone 2 to be a good game don't you.
What if it's not?
Naw... I'm sure it never even crossed your mind...
Presenting the ultimate fanboy detector. Place Killzone 2 and the E3 05 "target" side by side. If you think Sony met their target, you are a fanboy. End of discussion.
If you are found to be a fanboy take the following steps:
* curb your enthusiasm
* stop drinking Sierra Mist that you wrote Killzone Fuel on
* stop hyping a game that might not be half bad if you had the sense to not overhype in the first place.
* start a rehab program where you...
@GWAVE:
That is why this question had to be asked. Sony wasn't exactly forthcoming with that data initially. It was misleading, and someone called them on it.
Now, on the other hand, I'd like both MS and Sony to clarify their numbers further, as in how many PS3 users and how many XBL Gold users.
Isn't that exactly what happened to Halo 3? Players got a beta there and STILL stayed hyped for the launch.
There will be two camps here: one that blindly loves KZ2 and the other that blindly thinks Killzone 2 "isn't that good". The point is that this game will never be evaluated on its own merits, same as any hyped game. This game has to fill a "system seller" slot and a "halo killer" slot. Historically speaking, the deck is stacked against the...
I find it... telling, to say the least, that PS3 users paint this game as the greatest thing ever, just like Xbox 360 users painted Halo 3 as the greatest thing ever... after a significant beta... after massive hyping.
Good for them. Just keep in mind that this fits the same pattern as Halo 3. I suppose it's somehow completely different to them since it's not Halo and it's on their console.
So, don't come whining when the internet explodes with "it's not tha...
I'm sorry, but I have just "wait-and-see"ed one time too many. I play my 360 more, followed far behind by the PS3 and the Wii respectively. It's going to take a game-changer rather than a "halo killer" to make that space up. It's a matter of mentality, and Sony does NOT have it right now.
The most space intensive thing in this day and age is audio, since procedural rendering is super cheap on disk space. But for some odds reason, PS3 games keep touting "uncompressed audio". Digital audio by definition is compressed in any manner of sampling and quantization.
Why not compress audio like everyone else, take the time you save from the disk spinning and shorten the loads? Or better yet, quit forcing us to install?
I know. Because it would be...
For truth. You can't go wrong with a PS3 and a 360 right now. In fact, I don't see why the two fanboy contingents can't get along in the face of the REAL threat from that one Kyoto company everyone seems to think is so great. There are two things destroying games right now: Nintendo and hardcore gamers who can't get along.
