Oh my god, we aren't getting our pixels worth. It's a conspiracy. They be stealing ma' pixels. We should be reimbursed for the pixels they took from us.
Seriously, you really are a moron of the highest order if you need everything to be certifiably HD before you can be satisfied with your purchase. Either you are or you aren't.
I think it's kinda sad that it came down to normal maps. I have no doubt that, barring controller preferences, they are both imminently playable and downright fun... and in that respect, we shouldn't care.
But if we have to do the "best" dance, I think 360 wins. But not by that much.
Go get a pair of "Real Triggers" from Gamestop and stop bringing it up. Yes, the triggers are less than optimal... but that can be fixed.
If this were Microsoft, it would be "HAHHHAHHAHH, Gaylo."
If you think you are "paying" for standards, you really missed the point. Do you also complain that your cereal "may have settled during shipment"?
Take the framerate over graphic fidelity any day.
Of course sub-HD resolutions don't bother you. But it would if it were Halo and you were in a snarky mood...
As long as the game still runs at 60Hz no gripes here.
Zune is about to kill my iPod. I have a 5th gen video iPod, and it's showing quite a bit of age. Once the Zune HD hits the market, that sucker is mine. I have a phone that works just fine and all I need is a better music player. Zune HD's radio tipped the scales from iPod to Zune for me. Plus, that $15 all you can eat music deal is quite enticing.
What Dvorak seems to miss... on a consistent basis... is he under-rates the intelligence in a given enterprise. It makes for "good" press. I know it's popular to paint Microsoft as an know-nothing dinosaur... but I would challenge you to do some of the feats they have accomplished.
Who is to say Microsoft, a corporation with shareholders, doesn't look at the revenues of their cash cows and decides, "Hey, lets go make some new cash cows." When their original...
That's right. You know what, I should quit my job and go on a crusade to every Best Buy to spread the word that you should go to an AV geek forum to validate what your eyes tell you. No, it's not enough to be happy with what you bought. You need someone to TELL you it's ok to be happy...
And therein lies the problem with techno-whores. They can't feel confident in their purchases until someone validates their purchase. Because they are emotionally incapable of doing it thems...
Hey, Socomer, I'm having a discussion in the Gamer Zone about people who are still in the closet. You might want to pop over and defend yourself.
Neither format was more "right" than the other, but you hit the nail on the head, Flops. Sony was more directly tied to Blu-ray and employed a more direct strategy, whereas Microsoft was merely a supporter of HD-DVD and took the add-on route. Sony won that battle because they were aligned correctly. Microsoft was not.
That's funny, Mr. Phat. Except that Blu-ray is controlled by TONS of companies. Sony was just the largest proponent of the original nine.
The Blu-ray Association collects the royalties... and Sony is only one of well over 100 members.
That's funny, Nineball, because I played my Xbox 360 on a monitor for the longest time before I bought a real HDTV.
To play a PS3 on a cheaper monitor, you need a relatively expensive transcoder. On the 360, you just need the relatively inexpensive VGA cable.
Not everyone has a consistent 5 m/bit connection during peak hours. I think Blu-ray would be nice. But I already have my PS3 for that.
WOOT to the complete Battlestar Galactica on Blu-ray next week!
Also, I used to subscribe to this whole "it's a game player, not a movie player". I realized how pigheadded that is. As long as the movie functions don't interfere with development for something more worthwhile, bring on the movies.
300 Mp3's in a single moment?
What the hell is a moment?
When the N4G post is frosted with such Cell-obsessive superlative, how am I to expect anything past the link will be unbiased. The Cell is NOT the end-all-be-all of processors, even if this "bottomless well of processing power" angle Sony keeps pushing fools a bunch of fanboys.
If the Cell were such a revolution... we wouldn't be waiting for them to do something useful with it beyond video games...
The Wipeout content is kinda cool... but I have long since moved away from Killzone 2. It was great fun online, but I'm on to Battlefield 1943 right now.
Dude. What the hell are you talking about? This is a preview program sign-up.
Same reason COD4 and MW2 did it: Only pixel counters and fanboys looking for an edge care.
PS3 fanboys are the worst offenders, thanks to the "true HD" claims. It's just 1080p. Nothing special about it.
