Let's be honest. Sony owes a huge debt to Microsoft for innovating. You might not like it... in fact, I'm sure at least 90% of you on this site don't... but Sony has picked up a whole ton of features that Microsoft implemented first. Remember when PS3 games got Trophies? Remember when 360 got Achievements? Of course you don't, because 360 always had Achievements. AND Sony had a whole YEAR to implement a similar system, and they failed to do so.
Microsoft challenged Sony in ...
Unfortunate part of that walkman design is that you would have to use a bluetooth headset.
Cool idea, but we probably won't see anything like this for a while.
@Than: Talking about inedible vegetable matter is just one of those "green" bullsh*t approaches. Just make it out of something sturdy and cheap. I really don't care where it comes from as long as it performs.
Now now... don't crucify him over his name.
Sony's ego is obscuring otherwise good games and inflating expectations WAY out of proportion. The only games I have played on PS3 that really lit up my world were Infamous and MGS4. Everything else was pretty disappointing.
Thank you for completely discounting personal preference. It's clear you know better than us what controller is the best and I should just copy everything you do and feel. My own personal preferences don't matter.
@frostypants: ...Really? You're kidding, right? Oh, your not. My parents told me about people like you.
"Let's not act like Sony is not the video game Kings now."
Let's not act like you have a firm grip on reality...
Your bias feeds me, makes me laugh. You don't know what you want or why you feel that way. It's impossible for you to make an unbiased assessment of something you decided to hate... and you never even tried.
Just go away. You are addicted to negativity. You use it to shore up your insecurities. And I'm addicted to laughing at you.
You know... I don't like this guy's anti-intellectual delivery much... but he's right. Sony acted like they didn't want to play the money game, but it ended up costing them. Microsoft leveraged their cash to get what they wanted. And now Sony is suffering as a result.
You can put a negative spin on this as much as you want... but this in the way things shook out. Welcome to business.
That's interesting...
You type in all caps until you get to the names of the games. Hope the paycheck is worth it, shill.
I wonder why XBL isn't having these problems. Don't you? Maybe it's because I pay my $50 a year for something? But what could that be?
Oh, right...
The ability to take that $50 away if Microsoft doesn't deliver. Economic incentive makes for powerful leverage, doesn't it? And money is the language Microsoft speaks, isn't it?
But I don't expect you hippies to understand that.
If all you care about is "immersion", please... go play a PS3 game. As for me, I'm not so sure immersion is all it's cracked up to be. Let's take Uncharted 2. I go sneaking up on a guard in the chapter 2... only to have a cutscene fire off and interrupt me. Why can't I do things myself instead of letting the game play a little scene where it does it for me. That's no fun.
Is it just me or is Sony having to play catch up more and more? PSN, Trophies, Video Store, Cross-game Chat, In-game Music, Netflix, and now Facebook in a dedicated app.
But at least the Sony fanboys can rest easy on their fake couch in Playstation Home while the new space loads.
Yes... I'm sure you, owner of the platform "that only does everything", are concerned with accurate advertising...
Blame Sony for the new and improved "monkey see, monkey do" strategy. It's also brought us such wonderful innovations like Netflix... on a disk.
@noob:
Sorry, but the browser on the PS3 is nothing remotely close to usable. The Wii browser is more user friendly... and that's saying something. Sony is making a wise move to move facebook into a more user friendly context, whether or not it was inspired by its competitor's features.
Hey, it was Microsoft's money to do with as they please. And don't stand there thinking Sony couldn't have ponied up just as much. They just didn't, and as a result, the content went to the highest bidder.
Geez, what's with all the hate? It's plain as day that you people are looking for any old wedge you can drive into 360. Meanwhile, I'm playing the game and enjoying it.
Looking at the content I'm getting on GTA IV episodes, I would be happy with just the Episodes disk. Seriously, GTA IV and Episodes is a great value no matter how you slice it (and I know you will try hard to make it look bad). A GTA console with the complete GTA IV collection? Sounds like a prime idea for a ...
I like the commercials. They are certainly witty, but I take issue with the "It only does everything" line. This sounds like a return to the arrogant Sony, all too soon after being humbled.
Oh no! Someone priced an in-demand item at a price higher than a less in-demand item. Oh, the heresy... we must inform the hippy commune's elders.
People... if you don't like it, don't buy it. It is ALWAYS as simple as that.
As long as it locks 60 fps, it's superior in my mind. I'll take framerate over "cinematic quality" any day. I prefer my games to play like the best game they can... not the best movie they can.
Pretty decent game, especially for a first game from a business known for benchmarking. It's fun, but it's really online only.
If the PS3 fanboys think a PC version is a victory for them... well, I guess you do have to savor the small victories, no matter how small they are.
On the other hand, I don't see any PS3 exclusive titles coming to PC. Why is this assumed to be a bad thing?
And the spin goes on...
