I would accept this ranking if I were to downgrade Sony for all the 3D pushing and "Marcus PSP".
But my gut is that Sony and Nintendo both hit homeruns, but Sony put it in the upper decks.
Meanwhile, Microsoft hit a grounder to first base.
Honestly, if I didn't have one already, this new 360 wouldn't entice me to get one either. They missed out on my number one request: a slot loader.
Is it really that much to ask for these days?
Another long time 360 fan who's calling it against MS. They bombed hardcore.
Easy. Sony won over Nintendo thanks to a brilliant appearance by Kevin Butler.
Ok, so that's Nintendo and Sony. Did anyone else show up this year? </sarc>
Gotta agree, even as a long time Xbox fan, not only did Microsoft botch the presser, this was my first gripe about the new 360: "What? No slot loader?"
After Sony's outing today, the clobbered Microsoft and Nintendo.
My description of an Xbox 360 would sound more like that hot, addictive, too-cool-for-you girl who just can't stand you being so clingy, so she ends it abruptly leaving you waiting for more... until an endless succession of her twins comes in the mail.
I loved this article. I've actually dated the lions share of these types. I ended up marrying a Wii.
Oh please. Kingdom Hearts on 360 would be an utter bomb. Not "tha' bomb", but a bomb. The world has already spoken on how completely they reject cutesy JRPGs on the FPS-box.
But mostly, I don't want my wife tying up my 360...
When it comes to Goldeneye related news, I've learned not to get my hopes up.
Then, they tell me it will be made for Wii and DS, and not-getting-my-hopes-up gets MUCH easier.
Kutaragi was to Sony what Steve Jobs is to Apple.
An egomaniac and a gas bag, in my opinion.
I suppose it's better than selling it for the scrap metal in the board...
HDMI 1.4 requires a new chip, as I understand it, but I'm not sure if Microsoft could support that in software. I think there is a good chance they can.
This also raises the question of how the PS3 could support HDMI 1.4 if it was made before the standard was adopted...
This is why I question the need for 3D. Instead of pushing the boundaries of potential, it's about time we dedicated more development resources to using that untapped potential to actually make new games.
3D is the future... of selling TV's. Not of actual content I want to play.
And let's be frank: Sony is pushing 3D because they also make TV's. That's it. I'm all for Sony and their entrepreneurial spirit, but there is no reason Mi...
I'm really getting sick of explaining this disingenuous line of reasoning...
You can't align the launches of two consoles and expect to have a shred of statistical significance. Only the current install bases matter. For example, when a third party decides which consoles to develop for, they don't artificially shift the launches. They look at the numbers right now.
Long story short, the only people who care about who did better when you compare...
This is a pretty fair assessment for both the 360 and the PS3. Get one, but if you have to only get one, choose by the exclusives.
I play everything and you really can't go wrong with either, but odds are one will jump out at you.
But... let's all be frank... despite the vast gulf between the fanboys, the two are awfully similar.
I decided to go on vacation last week. But during last week the company's stock price went down. Must have been my fault... I added SO MUCH to the company...</sarc>
Yeah, that's all sorts of logically fallacious. The things that are driving Sony NOW were being developed back while he was at Sony, so I wouldn't be so quick to cite his absence as the cause.
Rare has become pidgeon-holed into kids games and concepts. After the utter flop of PDZ, I feel like Rare has lost their grasp on the core.
I'd love for them to prove me wrong though...
See, I find the "new-style" hard drive to be likely. Apple, Sony, Nintendo... they usually talk about how users aren't "expected" to upgrade, but they know there will be a loyal contingent that will.
As it pertains to Microsoft, they might tow the same line, but miss out on the subtleties of that core audience that wants the upgrade. This likely hard drive scenario will likely break that, unless they make it like the PS3.
I'm goi...
My worry about a slim is that Microsoft will be rolling the dice yet again on a console that took years to fix. It's not worth the risk, in my honest opinion.
Also, the question of where a hard drive fits is an important consideration. Will it be a lopsided design or, heaven forbid, a tethered hard drive dock?
I agree that Modnation disappointed. While I love creating a twisty beautiful track, I enjoy less so the racing thereof.
Actually, I don't think Reach will be as big as Halo 3, not after the rather muted response from the Reach Beta...
