5 terabytes... think about how much data that is.
I have 3.3 TB in my file server in my house... on redundant drives of course... it could be much more than that... And I have a hard time filling that up.
Imagine removable media with that kind of space. It's beyond excessive for what we will need in the next 50 years.
Edit: Dear god... the more I read in this thread, the more ignorant you people sound. There is no need... there is not...
Uncompressed? A "good" thing?
Even if you can fit that all on the disk, should you?
You have to get it off the disk, loaded in memory, and run processes on them. We are no where close to the technology in home consoles to do that kind of heavy lifting. The only real reason for having that much data is for large amounts of game data for a wide open world... and even then, you have to pay someone to populate that million-square-mile world with buil...
I'm going to be digesting Blur before I get to this. But I have a feeling Modnation might be around longer.
Achievements and Trophies? Number one? How on earth?
Honestly, I think it's perhaps the best thing to happen in recent years. Entire communities and individual relationships have formed around them. Friends helped me develop a formula for getting under par time on the last level of Marble Blast Ultra. Of course we then stabbed him in the back when the clan mutinied... but nice guy...
PS3 easily takes the cake. Capacitance touch sensor and disk slot over the disk tray... that's easy.
And I love the DS eject. Usually I run my thumb over it so it ejects into the air and I catch it all smooth-like.
Noooo.... and shame on you for being part of the campaign of misinformation. It's just pathetic how people are lowballing Natal. Ultimately the technology will prove itself, though I still think Move has better applications to gaming. Doesn't mean one is any better than the other, but the smear campaign about Natal is downright dirty.
Actually... the 360 would be able to do this with the webcam they already have. But I agree: Microsoft probably told them no because it would muddy the perception of Natal with the public.
Natal doesn't need to extract and replace background images from a 2D image. It does one better. Look at that vid and look at where the body is shown as red against a white background. It's reading in your body positions from a 3D infrared camera. Anything that's not your ...
*facepalm*
So, the PS Eye can take a 3D image of the room it's in?
Despite popular opinion, everything doesn't look better with parallax mapping. Look what happened to Perfect Dark Zero... it was down right laminated.
*Play*
"Yeah, yeah, it's your"
*Stop*
I'll give you a half-agree.
Demon's Souls can go stick itself where the sun don't shine... in the bargain bin.
That's right. Throw some robots in there. Maybe some kangaroos with boxing gloves. And... now get a pen and paper because this is one of those million dollar ideas... a dinosaur... WITH BOXING GLOVES!
...You are crazy.
There is a night and day difference between this and Natal. Unfortuantely, I simply do not have the bubbles to explain it to each one of you ignorant, snarky children.
Natal is 3D and can map your body to a 3D model. Eye cannot, and is not doing that in this game. It simply is NOT.
Excuse me while a crawl through this page and "-Bubble/Trolling" anyone who snarks about this being Natal.
I'm starting to think you might be a little afraid of what Natal could accomplish...
First... Eye of Judgment is a sound, well designed game, but I had to play the non-camera version on PSP before I understood that. The camera ruined it for me, originally. Try the demo and see if it doesn't change your mind.
Second, this is not a 3D camera. BUT it's impressive how fluidly it seems to work. This would work on Natal easily and you could use an 3D model instead of an image of yourself.
The Natal detractors keep ragging on it, but the...
To be fair, this is not 3D mocap... but it certainly looks fun.
...But no, this is completely different from Natal, and any hairbrain should understand that.
It's between this game and Blur right now, but I suppose it's like trying to compare New Super Mario Wii to LBP.
Maybe they will hook the audience up to vitality sensors to make sure they don't fall asleep...
Good point. However, I think the adoption curve is going to look similar to a Halo title. To paraphrase, people who were buying Halo 3 already had their 360, so it didn't drive a lot of new console sales. Natal mostly targets 360 owners who already have the console, via family members who can't relate to the game console, as is.
