Oh... so, we are going to get into who is "hardcore-ier than thou"?
This is the kind of attitude that allowed the casual wave we are experiencing now to thrive. What the most hardcore of the hardcore don't want to understand is that the more hardcore you get, the less people you have to play the game.
If you keep alienating all the people you don't feel are worthy of your hardcore games, either someone is eventually going to alienate you, o...
In general, the problem with video games these days... is critics who don't have the common sense to know how business works. That, AND the know-nothing fanboys who latch onto anything like this that supports their preconceptions. I'm looking at both sides.
Civilization Revolution says hi. And, it didn't take all day, but it was a very deep game, a gateway drug to the entire genre.
That's fine. Just continue the great work you did on CivRev. I know a lot of people want to bash it for being "watered down", but it got me and a lot of other people into Civ.
Good list.
In general, where possible, I'd love to see these games on both PSN and XBL. I was just suggesting Bizarre should get Geo Wars 2 on PSN, since that was published under Activision.
Where else are they going with Geo Wars? It's a pretty simple game. Not like there is a story to speak of.
Where could they go with it? Honestly, I'd love to see this released for PSN as well.
This seems like a step backwards.
Why?!?! This game would work 100% better on a system with a real controller.
What a waste. You already are paying Daniel Craig and god knows who else entirely too much. Why not make your investment back!?
Wait a sec. First, the PS3 was a monolith of unhackability... and now it's getting awfully leaky? I guess getting games to fit on a DVD-R is quite a limitation, but....
...wait, there are games that fit on a DVD-R? After Sony made the sell that Blu-ray is a necessity?
Reach has great graphics... but I wouldn't even argue that Killzone 2 looked better.
I still like Halo's art style more than KZ2, and that makes more of a difference to me than anything else.
Probably. You tend to know a stinker after 12 hours of playing it. If you need more, it's not to modify the score... it's to flesh out the write-up.
And I refuse to swallow your Fact-cake until you cut it into Opinion-sized bites.
I think the point is that no matter how good it is, it's still getting pumped up beyond all rational evaluation.
It's overhyped now. It will probably be overrated later, if you count the Halo haters opinion.
I disagree with the suggestion that DDR competes with other dance games. DDR isn't a dance game... it's a stomp-on-arrows-to-the-beat game. And don't get me wrong... I'm not deriding DDR. I loved DDR back in the day... but with newer tech, we are getting closer to a game that really IS dancing.
Some people are thankful to be playing the game at all.
Tried Move at PAX. I played table tennis, and it felt like real table tennis.
I expect great things from Move, the same way I expect great (but different) things from Kinect.
No sh*t.
At PAX I'm going to walk up to the Move demo and ask them to show me something Wii can't do... and I'm confident they will give it to me. They might block arrows with a shield, or swat blaster bolts with a lightsaber. That's the big difference. Wii motions tend to "activate" actions, where the Move tends to give you finite control. That's the difference here.
@InfectedDK
Someone took your bubble cause you were being a snarky little bitch, and you know it.
Silly fanboys. Do you really want to highlight that Microsoft has had a year headstart? I tend to see that as a POSITIVE for Sony.
Both companies made their decisions, Microsoft to rush a console out, and Sony decided to wait a year. Now, look what that bought Microsoft: a few million lead, a chronically broken set of hardware, and a $1 billion pre-tax charge to fix it. Look at what that bought Sony: stable hardware with an extra year to develop the tech for the Cell and ...
No really. Have a ball. Feel free to enjoy these games.
Just don't try to parlay that into headlines like "ME2 On PS3 A Death Sentence For Microsoft".
Bungie isn't even the first studio I would think off in this situation. Geez. "One of" but not "the only".
