Dude, we ARE in the current-gen. :p PS2 is last-gen. And I'll just have to respectfully disagree with your final sentence.
Disclaimer - What you are stating is not only illegal, but illogical.
I don't get all of this stuff. >.< DVDs are working just great... and the only reason anyone would buy a Blu-Ray disk or an HD-DVD is because of their high-def television... Which many people will still not even own in 3 years. So how can this company make such a bold faced false statement?
I dunno, this whole "Second Life", and online social networking thing just doesn't sit right with me. It's obvious that I'm in the vast minority with my line of thinking, but when I think multiplayer, I think of people being at my house, sharing sodas, and looking at different parts of the tv screen. When I think of social networking I think of going to a party over at a friend's house and eating appetizers and mingling with his other friends.
I wonder how many other...
I don't know if this wishy-washyness is a good thing or not. There seems to be an equal number of people all around saying that there are pre-orders still avaliable for the PS3, that the talk about it is apathetic at best, and that hte launch is going to do little more than make small ripples in the console pond, as much as people are saying that pre-orders are selling fast, this is the most hype for a console ever, and so on and so forth.
Seeing as how this particular article,...
Sure sales figures like this don't say much aside from the fact that the Wii is popular. It could be for any number of reasons, and all of them valid, from "it's simply less expensive" to "it's fun as hell to play on".
I think that's a pretty big "if", though. I mean, you've got game retailers and Sony saying "this is going to be so huge", but then you've got the media reporting consumer apathy towards the console, pre-orders still avaliable one week from launch, and fears about pricing/backwards compatability/etc.
I guess we won't know until we get there. As I see it, the only thing the PAL PS3 launch has going for it is that it's not fighting with anyone else's launches....
Perhaps because Nintendo thinks that all of that stuff is fine just the way it is, and a bunch of other people agree?
Cocaine's a hell of a drug, man. You've gotta quit that stuff.
This sort of thing doesn't really bother me... Though I'm not sure if I'm in the demographic that Nintendo is aiming for.
I've never cared for online gaming, myself. If I want to play a game with someone else, I'll do it in the comfort of my own home, thanks.
"Communist"... I do not think it means what he thinks it means.
My suggestion is to put down your tinfoil hat and just realize that not every story submitted can get posted. There's plenty of pro-Sony, anti-Sony, pro-Nintendo, anti-Nintendo, pro-Microsoft, and anti-Microsoft stories that get posted each day.
And a new era of truancy is born.
Or perhaps not. I don't think that games are causing truancy - just that they make it so much easier. Usually you had to be dedicated to be a slacker in school.
Well many people think that the Spider-Man 2 game was a fantastic gaming experience, myself included. King Kong was a hell of an underrated FPS... hell, I remember buying The Goonies and Alien 3 games for the NES, which happened to be also great gaming experiences, aside from just great movies.
I mean, of course many of your video games based on movies or books are going to fall short, but there really are quite a few gems out there.
Those graphics looked... bad? How do you figure? I mean, to each their own, of course, but to me that looked rather stunning. Even the Spider-Man 2 game had great graphics, and this is a step above that.
What do you mean by "Sony is the only company with an ongoing strategy"? Methinks you might be either misusing the phrase "ongoing strategy" or you're not paying attention to Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony.
Actually you just contradicted yourself there, mate. "PS3... are still the console king" and then "It will take a while to determine who will be console king." Pick one and run with it.
Though I'll agree that right now the PS2 is certainly the console to beat.
"Still, on a positive note, at least we won't have any annoying scalpers profiting from low supply on eBay like they did with the 360."
Hehe, good point!
Are you sure that the PS3 is selling more pre-orders in the UK than either the X-Box 360 or the Wii? I honestly don't know any specific numbers, but it seems like... well, that there were a lot of systems avaliable to sell, and both of those consoles sold out of pre-orders. I don't know if the numbers were in the 200,000 range, but I'd suppose that they were higher. I dunno, I'd like to get informed, but I wouldn't know where to look. Maybe someone can cough up those numbers?
My thoughts exactly. Thanks for summing that up for me. ^_^
You could say that about the Wii, though, couldn't you? Well, aside from the hefty purchase bit.
