I share your wishful thinking, friend, but honestly, I'd rather have Take Two acquire them. They have the best track record for owning critically acclaimed studios that produce quality fare.
I wish Square Enix to go the way of THQ and that Eidos/SE Europe is bought by a company that'd give them the props they deserve. Eidos/SE Europe games have "not been selling" because Square Enix is doing ridiculously overblown sales projections unrealistic to today's market, as well as not properly promoting games from who are their BEST DIVISION. Seriously, Eidos/ SE Europe has made/published Just Cause 2, Hitman, Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and it's su...
Yeeeeeah, no. Just with the RIDICULOUSLY more massive international market Sony will have that XB1 won't, the userbase by the end of the launch window will be overwhelmingly in Sony's favor. I mean, jeez, during the launch window, the PS4 will launch in THIRTY TWO countries. That is a full 19 countries more than the X-Box One. By the time Microsoft gets around to releasing the system for those countries, Sony will already have had a massive head start.
So a new Mario game, a Kareoke game and remakes of previous games is what should make me excited about the Wii-U? Really?
Look, I grew up with Nintendo, they have a very special place in my heart. I still to this day have my original NES. A sizable number of gaming's biggest franchises started in Nintendo systems, and their in-house franchises are second to none. But let's be realistic here: Nintendo released a current-gen console at the end of this generation's l...
This guy's response to the Feminist Frequency and Tropes Vs. Women thing is thoroughly disgusting.
Look, Anita Sarkeesian's show does have a very narrow, biased point of view, and she is quite dishonest in her claims about being a gamer, that is already proven. But to take the demonizing approach makes the other side of the argument look much worse.
One thing that's undeniable is that there IS sexism and misogyny in gaming, anyone who says otherwi...
You know, everyone has a few games that they can wait for instead of buying them Day 1 and use that money instead for a HDD upgrade. As much as I wanted to get Ni No Kuni and Bioshock Infinite the moment they came out, I instead used that money for a 1TB HDD and a cooling fan for my PS3, best damn decision I made.
Pfffffffffffffft hahahahahaha, no.
@Chrischi1988 You're basically saying that the Wii-U's controller is great for genres and games that are not being supported or released at all for the Wii-U. That's like saying that I'm the best velociraptor hunter on the planet. Unless someone clones a friggin' velociraptor for me to kill, I'm not proving jack. The touchscreen would be attractive if games in the Wii-U used it in ingenious ways that could not be replicated by other peripherals, but not even Nintendo t...
Disagree. Microsoft is marketing the XB1 WAY more aggressively than Sony's doing with the PS4, and Sony is still ahead come next-gen. Politics towards consumers, price range, proven brands and new, exciting IPs is what's keeping Sony ahead of the game. The PS4 just FEELS next-gen, while the XB1 feels like an extension of the previous gen in terms of what it offers consumers.
I don't think Zelda's overrated, but it IS way too samey and played out by now. Nintendo needs to let the series rest for a few years and come back with something fresh. I remember I saw the designs for a futuristic Zelda game(I believe they were scans from the Hyrule Historia, can anyone confirm this?) and I think that'd be an amazing step in the right direction.
The adage that applies to Zelda(and honestly, to all Nintendo franchises) is that Familiarity Breeds ...
I respectfully disagree with RE4, that game's been so influential to the current crop of 3rd-person action action games it's not even funny. While it did steer the series in a more action-oriented direction, the game itself is a classic. RE5 and 6 are total grabage, though.
Capcom's made some seriously boneheaded business decisions these last few years, that's for sure, and there's an undercurrent of mean-spirited intentions on many of them. Their handling...
@HarryMasonHerpDerp Very true. Not only that, EA also has Bioware, which is a HUGE studio, as well as a critically acclaimed one. As for Activision, they have the publishing rights for Bungie, and Destiny will be HUGE.
I honestly think that, as bad as EA and Activision can be, they're nowhere near as bad as Capcom. At least Activision and EA put effort into their chief franchises and make an effort to publish triple-A games, including many GOTY candidates. Capcom's be...
It made me smile to see Folklore in that list. I'd kill for a sequel to that game.
You know, bragging about how much a launch game pushes the limits of your system and how the other console can't handle it smacks of hyperbole. The games that push the system should come by the END of a console's life cycle, not the beginning.
Plus, people keep forgetting, when all's said and done, that Ryse's gameplay looks like absolute crap. It's more of a technical demo than a game. It's XB1's version of The Bouncer(HA! remember that shit?!).
Microsoft's foot-to-mouth disease is rubbing off on their partners, apparently. Anyone intelligent can easily realize that the difference in graphics won't probably even be perceptible by the naked eye, but Crytek failed to choose their words correctly and are getting crap over it.
Microsoft SERIOUSLY needs to get busy on their damage control, especially since not only is PS4 coming out the gate guns blazing, but SteamOS and the Steam Box will also be putting a dent ...
I see the controller having a lot of potential, but my main question is this: how would I play a fighting game on it? :/
True, but that would mean that you'd get about, say, 8 hours of entertainment out of the movie tickets, while GTA5 will give you HUNDREDS of hours. That means you'd get 12.5 times the enjoyment time for the same price, and that's not even taking the QUALITY of the entertainment into account, which I can bet GTA5 is MUCH more entertaining than any drivel Hollywood's churning out lately. Part of the reason Hollywood's so desperate to get the rights to a GTA movie, but thankf...
I understand Rockstar, but what has Capcom done?
You know, I actually have high hopes for Sega localizations now, since they just acquired Atlus, whom I consider to be(along with XSeed, Aksys and NIS America) as the best company for localization of Japanese games. Not only that, Atlus could also(if allowed independent operation without too much direct control by Sega) to localize games that Sega might not otherwise try to, like the aforementioned Yakuza games.
Sega has a shot at really stepping up their game with their acqu...
How so? Take Two acquired the rights to the Civilization franchise and it's been epically good since, and they also acquired X-COM, which(The Bureau notwithstanding) made an amazing comeback with Enemy Unknown. They acquired Irrational Games and let them make their spiritual successor series to System Shock 2, Bioshock. Adding to that, Take Two publish games for Gearbox Software. If anything, no company offers such amazing value in their games and creative freedom for their developers lik...
