The way I see it, Apple would, at most, maybe take a fraction of the XB1 or PS4 fans away out of knee-jerk fanboyism for Apple products, only for the console to fail because of lack of 3rd party support and lack of experience in the field by Apple. Any objective gamer would not look twice at an Apple console's direction. It'd be even MORE of a style-over-substance console than anything either Sony or Microsoft could dish out, and if we've learned anything from the iPad, iPhone and...

The XBox VS PS argument for shooters and racing games, I believe, is a matter of taste. While I'm a PS fan, I can see why people'd like the XBox controller for those genres, but I still play those genres perfectly fine on my DS3, and I like the fact that it's a good all-around controller for any genre.

Oh, but one thing is very much true: the PS controller is LEAGUES better for fighting games. Like, not even close.

So they made the Kinect non-mandatory, but they STILL stick you with it on the box and they STILL make you pay $100 for it... The only reason most gamers were willing to put up with the Kinect on the XB1 was that it was mandatory for it to function. Now with no reason AT ALL to have it, forcing gamers to buy it is a WAY more bitter pill to swallow.

I have never seen anyone so dedicated in pissing off the people who provided his livelihood. Not only that, if he's "retired" it means that he is not actively working in the industry right now, so he can just shut the f*ck up about the direction of the industry, considering he doesn't have the insider view anymore.

If I wanted an honest opinion on where the industry is going, I'd ask the indie developers. THOSE guys are the ones who can give us the best ...

I'm convinced that keeping their policies might have worked out more for Microsoft in the long run. They COULD have used the "we are the future" excuse and still gotten people to buy the system, but now with every decision they're going back on and imitating Sony with, they're just looking weaker and weaker and making people see Sony was right from the beginning.

Not only that, with the DRM policies and 24-hour online gone, now people will focus more on ...

Oh, you mean the same Major Nelson who's having Don Mattrick muzzled? Just because he was giving out the information Microsoft was giving him? The reason Don Mattrick was destructive to Microsoft is because the information on the XB1 he was given was destructive, he was pretty much in the dark when made to answer the hard questions, and now Microsoft and Major Nelson are using him as a scapegoat.

As far as I'm concerned, Major Nelson is an unrepentant scumbag, I have ...

Yeah, that quote from Iwata was f*cking great and right on the money.

Lemme put it in a very easy way to understand for everyone: you don't get off scot-free from attempted robbery or attempted murder, you get punished by the law severely anyway. Why would we then reward Microsoft with our hard-earned money when they tried to take it away by force already? That'd be like giving the attempted robber the loot just because he failed and said he was sorry!

Are you guys mental? Even if they didn't succeed, they ATTEMPTED to play you all for chumps! Don't support them just because they backed out! They only did because they were gonna fail, not because they care about consumers!

The PS4 is still better priced, more powerful and PS+ is a much better value than XBox Live. Are YOU GUYS gonna go back on your word just like Microsoft did?

I knew Suda51 was crazy, but I now see he's delusional, too.

@Kurt Russell: Exactly. Sony themselves said that the money will got to maintaining and improving the online infrastructure, as well as to allow for more benefits to subscribers. And being a PS+ subscriber since the beginning, I totally agree. Those are the best $60 I spend a year, hands down. I can't think of a better value in gaming, short of actually PIRATING the games. But that'd be wrong.

I've got no worries about PS+. While it's regrettable that it's required for multiplayer gaming now, it's an understandable sacrifice. Sony is giving us the Ps4 at an amazingly low cost, and they have to compensate somewhere. But Sony apologized and explained very clearly why the changes to the service were made, as well as what benefits we can expect(and are already getting) from the service. PS+ has the advantage of giving loads of benefits for the subscription even for non-...

@newmonday Windows 8 exclusive?! Jeez, they really want us to upgrade to that piece of crap, don't they? I'm thankful my laptop was the last one of its model to come out with Windows 7. Pretty much everyone I talk to that had Windows 8 downgraded to Windows 7 or went with a Linux OS instead of putting up with that horrendous piece of software.

Godspeed, buddy, you had a great run, arguably the best videogame system of all time and DEFINITELY the best-selling.

Um, I thought the whole purpose of a dev kit is to emulate the actual specs of the system it's a dev kit 4? I mean, sure, it has to be more powerful to an extent, since it takes more power to make the games than run them, but they should run on exact system specs when running the games. How can this be if it uses completely different, much more powerful hardware?

Such fucking bullshit, man, it's just friggin' tiring.

The "PS4 games go away forever if you don't pay PS+" thing is absolute bull, they just become unplayable until you pay for PS+ again, which is old news already. Compare that to the XBox One, which ALSO makes its games unplayable on account of THE WHOLE SYSTEM BECOMING UNPLAYABLE.

And yes, the PS4 is not allowed on DoD networks, but neither are the PS3 or 360, so that's a moot point. Except it's not a moot point for the XBox One because THE SYSTEM BECOMES...

This is a huge coup for Sony. "Definitely possible" can easily be interpreted as "is in development and the XB1 version is just timed exclusive", which just robbed XB1 of one of their hot "exclusives." In fact, I think this generation will be defined even more by 1st party games than 3rd party, since the PS4 hardware doesn't have the limitation of being hard to program for on account of its processor. And 3rd party developers thinking of releasing an exclusiv...

"No, seriously, guys, I just don't know what R&D is doing giving me these misleading e-mails! The XBox One is actually A MILLION times more powerful than the 360, and it can balance the budget, cure cancer and give us faster than light travel!"

Seriously, this is pathetic.

The saddest part is that ALL consoles lose money at launch. Until components get cheaper with time and units sold, consoles tend to sell below cost even on day 1, and the manufacturing cost is offset by game sales. I SERIOUSLY doubt the XB1 has $100 worth of hardware over the PS4, they should just take the hit and lower the price. If they're really that confident about the system and its games, they should take the gamble on the price drop. They're just being stubborn for the sake of ...
