Every time Microsoft trumpets "the power of the cloud", I can't help but cringe and feel sorry for them. And when(not if) Sony gets in on the cloud computing game, they'll have the same advantage Microsoft has but with a much more powerful console to take advantage of it. When that happens, the spec difference will be even more pronounced. I wouldn't be surprised if, within a year, we're already seeing a massive migration of developers to PS4 just on the sheer horsep...
I don't want it to be the Capital Wasteland again. We already had three games set in the west and one in DC, I wanna see other places. Boston was a huge rumor, but if I had my way, I'd do it in Florida.
Think about it: the Everglades would be a haven for mutant animals and hillbilly assholes by the buttload. You could visit Miami Beach. You could have Cuba or the Florida Keys as DLC. Hell, you could have an expy of DISNEY WORLD, complete with a Vault!! It'd be fri...
So you're telling me that for $60 I get a fighting game with a puny 8 character roster? Literally EVERY SINGLE FIGHTING GAME ON THE MARKET offers rosters at least twice as big and with many more gameplay features than just Story, Practice and Online). If you compare this to, say, Super Street Fighter 4, Tekken Tag 2, Injustice or Mortal Kombat, it comes out looking hideously underwhelming.
Yeah, they developed INTERNET EXPLORER, the absolute worst web browser in existence.
If services really are what will win this new gen, well, Playstation Plus is a LOGARITHMICALLY better service than Live, so, yeah. And like many people have mentioned, the services XB1 provides are pretty much exclusive to NA, so other countries will not have an equally good experience to NA XB1 owners, unlike PS4 owners, who pretty much get the exact same great experience worldwide.
And services, no matter how great, NEVER trump games in a gaming console.
@joecanada The thing is that a game such as Borderlands has a multiplayer campaign, but in that game missions basically follow only one path and the quest flags can be activated without incident. Bethesda games, however, not only have LOADS of optional flags in their questlines, but you can also activate quests or fail them inadvertently. Add to that the insane amount of objects in the game world and you're asking for gamebreaking bugs by the buttload.
Think about this: h...
@joecanada Oh please god no, that would be a friggin' programming nightmare. If Bethesda games already have loads of bugs on singleplayer, multiplayer would turn them unplayable. Unless a game is designed from the beginning to have MP as an option during the campaign(like Borderlands) or MP is separate from SP(like GTA5), open-world games don't lend themselves to MP. Just with all the quest flags and options usually available in Bethesda games, there'd DEFINITELY be a game-breakin...
I'm hoping that Fallout 4 will be thankfully light on the bugs, considering that there's so little difference between the consoles and PC now. They don't have to go with a completely new engine, since they have Skyrim's engine and that runs pretty decently. With good patch support and the extra RAM and HD capability of the new consoles, they could make a fantastic-looking game that plays well.
I just hope it's true, cause Fallout is possibly my favorite ga...
@GrizzliS1987 I would cry many a manly tear if that were the case.
I use a gaming system's UI all of the 5 seconds it takes me to pick the game off the menu and start playing. That's the stupidest-ass nitpick anyone could make. A system's UI is never set in stone, it gets upgraded with firmware updates all the time. A system's HARDWARE SPECS, however, IS set in stone, and Sony's already kicking MS's ass there right out the gate. A "better" UI is not worth $100 dollars by a longshot.
@LOGICWINS That $25 for a charger kit for the XB1 controller's not much? I'd already be paying $100 over Sony's console, I gotta pay $25 on top of that just so I can re-use the controller with it not dying on me? I'm sorry, but that's a load of crap.
My opinion is that while Microsoft did try to impose all those policies and restrictions, they always had the backup plan to retract them if they pissed off gamers and claim that they listened to the fans about it. They may be money hungry, but they're not stupid.
What they DIDN'T count on was, to use a sports analogy, for Sony to grab that fumble and run all the way to the end zone with it. Sony had a PR team raring to go to analyze any mistake MS made in their marke...
Maxing out the system specs right out of the gate is bad news, and I seriously doubt MS's much-touted "power of the cloud" will enhance performance dramatically enough to compensate. Maxing out the specs should be something that happens at the tail-end of a console's lifetime, as can be appreciated in pretty much every generation prior to this one.
Even with the upcoming new gen versions, I'm pretty positive that Ghosts won't outsell BO2. I seriously doubt the added user base of current gen and new gen will reach those numbers. COD's due a slump in sales from franchise fatigue, I'm just amazed it took this long for it to kick in. People should also not underestimate the impact of Battlefield 4, cause that one really looks ready to tackle COD head on this new gen.
Microsoft seriously has an uphill battle this gen just because of how much they've been stepping on consumers' toes since the system got announced. They've been touting "features" and establishing restrictions that cause knee-jerk overly negative reactions in consumers. Meanwhile, Sony's been keeping a business model that's pretty much business as usual for them with the added bonus of positive PR from their reactions to MS's goofs. Not only that, but they re...
@Rainslacker Agreed. Nintendo is a special case just because of the 3DS as the bigger of the handheld consoles and that their exclusive franchises inspire very hardcore brand loyalty, and a PC is something EVERYONE has whether it's gaming-centered or not. Bottom line, Nintendo consoles and PC gaming offer very different experiences to Sony or MS consoles, so they're usually owned in addition to those, but between those two it's much more common to see either/or than having both. ...
Hell, Microsoft's basically been doing Sony's job for them with all the dumb decisions they've made pre-launch. They do something stupid, Sony goes "we're not doing that" and they instantly win. It's like there's a Sony double agent inside MS poisoning their water coolers with stupid juice or something.
Not only that, but hardcore gamers are also the most jealous of their wallet. They demand palpable benefits for their investment, including quality of games, features of the system, online infrastructure and of course price range. Sony is already ahead of the game in this regard with a consistent stable of quality franchises, more powerful system hardware, PS+ and the lower price range of the console.
Sony also has an edge over Microsoft in two regards: brand loyalty and inte...
Dude, if any company deserves to go down, it's friggin' Capcom. They not only have been screwing fans over with their abusive DLC and downloadable game strategy, they've also apparently gotten a hard-on for taking a crap on beloved franchises of theirs. I'm a Megaman fan, so I've REALLY felt the burn badly. That's not even mentioning their DISGUSTING treatment of their employees. Already Shinji Mikami, Hideki Kamiya and ESPECIALLY Keiji Inafune have left the company fo...
This is why we can't have nice things :(
