Your definition of "free" is pretty effin' different from mine, EA.
@DarthZoolu Right on the friggin' money. With the relatively cheap price of PCs and parts these days, you can get a mid-level gaming PC for $500 that could smoke both the Scorpio and the PS4 Pro. If MS wants to make the system appealing, they have to be able to weather a loss on hardware and quadruple down on exclusives. People don't buy a gaming system because it's the best hardware, they do it because it's a convenient no-fuss box that can play the games right there and ther...
Very simple: it's a kind of mission in which the failure condition is not directly in the player's hands. Taking agency away from the player is always a bad idea.
Could escort missions be done right? Yes they can. If the escorted party can actually defend themselves and are smart enough to try to avoid harm when possible, or even actually CONTRIBUTE to the mission by helping you take down enemies and giving you support if you need it, then it can work.
What the hell is up with Forbes? They're a business and entrepeneurship company yet constantly keep harping that Sony is in decline and Microsoft is gonna beat them at E3? I dunno, but they don't seem to know business much for me.
Sony can "win" E3 on momentum alone. Both Microsoft and Nintendo have the burden to deliver, Sony has been consistently announcing and releasing games since the PS4's release. They can follow the exact same strategy as previous years, announcing new games and following up on previously released ones, and they'll easily come out on top.
Backwards compatibility: a feature that is not a system seller, and even if it was, doesn't lead to sales of new games, only of old or even used games.
Sure, THAT'S the feature that will help XB1 overtake the PS4!!!
Edit: And here's a question for you: if PS4 DID have backwards compatibility... what would XB1 HAVE? AT ALL?
Reasons Sony games get delayed: testing, tweaking, addition of content, quality control.
Amount of games Sony releases: lots and constantly.
Reason Microsoft games get delayed: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Amount of games Microsoft releases: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I fail to see how backwards compatibility will be a selling point that will propel the XB1 over the PS4 when:
-XB1 has a mere fraction of the exclusives that PS4 releases on a constant basis.
-The exclusives MS does have are in development limbo or get straight-up canceled.
-Sony has PS Now, PlayStation 1 and 2 classics on PSN and there are constant remasters of PS3 games, so you can play old games on PS4 if you want to.
And XB1's only valid s...
"Yeh unfortunatly Metroid isn't exactly a system seller."
I respectfully disagree. I don't plan to get the Switch at all unless they finally release a new Metroid. It's my favorite game franchise and we haven't gotten a new one since the Wii, and that was Other M, which was utter garbage. Give me a classic 2D Metroid or have Retro do a new Metroid Prime. Otherwise, I'm just not getting the system at all.
Gameplay: Tekken 7
Value: Injustice 2
I2 has a much more involving and well-scripted story mode, has solid mechanics, and a CRAPLOAD of modes and unlockables. Tekken will always be the best fighting game franchise to me, but T7 is lackluster in terms of features. No individual endings, a story mode with THE WORST NARRATOR IN VIDEOGAME HISTORY, less characters than it's predecessor... You'd think with how friggin' long the game took to come out, we'd...
Nah, Deep Down is a whole other thing. From what was shown in trailers about the storyline, it kind of has an Assassin's Creed thing going of future characters being able to travel to the past or send their consciousness there. It has nothing to do with the lore of Dragon's Dogma. The gameplay shown is not like Dragon's Dogma at all, either.
Have you used the items that instantly pump a new character to Level 40 in the original Destiny? They make it a BORE to play the game when you're breezing through early missions that should be a challenge. Same thing would happen if you could just import your character as-is to Destiny 2. Not only would it unbalance the game by making you more powerful than the level suggested for the early game, it'd also give veterans an unfair advantage over new players. On top of that, the weapon ...
What I love about Dragon's Dogma is that it's a game that you get from it as much as you put into it. I remember that I bought it, played it for a few hours and lost interest. But then, when DD: Dark Arisen was released as a PS Plus offering, I gave it a second chance and played it more extensively, and I was HOOKED. I put over 200 hours into it then, and then bought it on PC and put over 300 hours more. It became my favorite game of that generation, even over Dark Souls.
...
I disagree with you on Dark Arisen trying to imitate Dark Souls and being lame. I found it welcome to be able to play a DLC that is a genuine challenge, and a few of the character classes that are so-so in the regular game are amazing in Bitterblack Isle (Magick Archer ftw!). Plus, the story of Daimon adds a lot to the Dragon's Dogma mythos, showing how low an Arisen can fall.
My theory: Capcom is re-releasing it for PS4 and XB1 cause they're gonna announce Dragon's Dogma Online or Dragon's Dogma 2 for US release and they're giving new players to the franchise the chance to play it on their current systems.
If my theory is true, I will cry happy tears.
I already bought the original on PS3, Dark Arisen and then the PC version. Vapcom, by now you should know we like this game. PLEASE make a sequel already.
VAGRANT STORY!!!
Am I the only person on the planet who wants to see the Arisen from Dragon's Dogma as a playable character?
I won't even believe it if they show it at E3, cause it could get cancelled later. I'll have to see it in stores before I believe it. As a fan of Metroid (as in, it's my favorite Nintendo franchise period) I refuse to be burned again.
None of the big games in MS's conference are exclusive. I fail to see how that's gonna scare Sony. Don't get me wrong, MS had a good show, but the stupid amount of exclusive content Sony will showcase will blow it out of the water.
