People bitch so much when PS Plus has a "weak" month, when they don't realize that there's a lot of wheeling and dealing behind the scenes to secure PS Plus games every month. It's inevitable that some months we'll have more indie games while Eony works on securing more AAA titles. We've had a bunch of great AAA games these last few months (I was SHOCKED when MGS5 made it last month), and besides, right now is the strongest period of the year in terms of big AAA ...
People DO speak with their money, and EA doesn't listen. Dead Space 3 was ruined by executive meddling that forced microtransactions and coop into it, so people didn't buy it. Instead of realizing they had ruined a franchise that was critically acclaimed and that they should stick to what made it work, they just nuked the franchise AND the studio, which is their usual MO. Same thing happened with Origin, Bullfrog and a ton of other awesome studios that were turned to crap by EA execut...
I have a slight feel that the author of this article cannot deal with moral and emotional complexity. Detroit, like Heavy Rain before it, is about decisions that can have dire consequences, and TLOU is a continuing narrative about despair and how far one can go to cling on to hope. These are heavy themes, and sometimes a narrative device like violence can serve as a sort of shorthand to nail the message home. This is not Mortal Kombat, Doom or, heaven forbid, Hatred. It's not glorificatio...
Last time I checked, this is a game with adult themes, made for adults, and rated M accordingly. There is ABSOLUTELY NO JUSTIFICATION to crap on the trailer and the game itself. Thematically, it's appropriate, since TLOU is about loss of hope and dehumanization in the face of tragedy and world catastrophe.
I have nothing but trust for Naughty Dog. With the Uncharted series as a whole and the original TLOU, they have proven that they can mature their storytelling as a se...
AJUJUIIII!!! A GOZAR CON LAS NUEVAS AVENTURAS DE JUAN AGUACATE!!! COCINEMOS LOS TACOS Y TOMEMOS EL TEQUILA, HUEVONES!!!
Yeah, I'm kinda excited about this game.
This is absolutely ridiculous. I'm doubtful the Switch will sell more than the 3DS, and the 3DS is now sitting at around 67 million in lifetime sales. Saying it'll reach 130 million, which would outsell the Wii and THE ORIGINAL GAME BOY? Fat chance.
And saying it'll reach those numbers because of support in Japan is laughable, especially cause 1. consoles overall are not selling in the numbers they used to in Japan (which Sony acknowledged in last night's PS...
@Theknightofnights I'm not saying the PS4 will stop selling, but its sales will slow down as the user base grows. Pretty much anyone who would have made buying a PS4 a priority already has it. Now sales are more stragglers who were undecided, people saving up for one who couldn't buy it at launch or parents buying them for kids. That means that, yes, sales have slowed down, but they pick up during price drops or during peak seasons like Black Friday and the Christmas season.
...
You have to keep in mind, though, that PS4's current user base is so huge that pretty much anyone who was gonna get a PS4 already HAS a PS4. We'll see spikes in PS4 sales as price drops happen, but it basically already has a robust base, so sales will slow down. But even with sales slowing down, software sales are consistently top on the PS4, and neither the Switch nor the XB1 will equal the PS4's lifetime sales by the time the generation is over.
I say no, and for a reason many people might not have considered: imparity. There are just too many uneven factors in competitive gaming to truly be able to consider it a sport in which both competitors/teams have an equal opportunity.
Example: take League of Legends. The way LoL works, there is ABSOLUTELY ZERO chance that both teams have the exact advantages and disadvantages, since both teams have a completely different character composition. This uncertainty of parity in...
Slow and steady wins the race. Nintendo may have announced a load of 3rd-party support and new exclusives for the Switch, but the amount of already existing games in that lineup as compared to new upcoming ones still gives pause. Nintendo is desperately trying to play keep-up. In contrast, Sony has been the very image of consistency, having both full 3rd-party support and a constant stream of exclusives coming out every month. The Switch does have the feature of portability, which makes it an...
Show me an open-world UbiSoft game with combat anywhere near as polished and intense as HZD's and we'll talk.
The only-open world UbiSoft series I still follow is Far Cry. Far Cry 3 is still to me one of the best open-world games ever made, and Far Cry 5's setting and story looks compelling as all hell.
Yeah, when I think of The Avengers, I think of taking cover. What, will a Superman game be a stealth-based game then?
@PeaSFor
Omae wa mo... shindeiru.
A game based on my favorite anime by the creators of my favorite modern gaming franchise. I splooged while shedding manly tears.
Edit: And if it doesn't come west, it'll probably have English subtitles in the Hong Kong version, so I'll import if that's the case.
I'm an old-timer to the gaming industry (my first console was the Atari 2600), and if there's anything that I'm ALWAYS for, it's the console wars. They drive innovation, period. I still remember "Genesis Does What Nintendon't", and that lit a HUGE fire under Nintendo's @$$, leading to the friggin' Super Nintendo.
Even "losers" of the console wars can come out ahead. Look at Sega. They lost the console wars to Nintendo and Sony...
Slow and steady wins the race, but only as long as you ARE in the race. That's how the PS3 eventually bounced back and was a winner last gen, but the XBox brand isn't even trying. XB1 execs put all their eggs in the XB1X basket, but in doing so they're killing the current XB1's userbase, and in the meantime Sony's been Sony and releasing a constant flow of great exclusive games, cementing their user base and prepping a killer holiday season. If you check online, the only b...
I for one think that the fact that they used psychosis as a character trait for the main character and not treat it for laughs is admirable. Senua is not some Deadpool-like "Whoop de doo!!" comedy character, she is SERIOUSLY broken. It's the most compelling portrayal of mental illness in a game since the portrayal of PTSD in Spec Ops: The Line.
I hate using the term "snowflake", cause it's dismissive and offensive most of the time, but seriously,...
Indie is not a genre, it's the definition of a release platform. An indie game is a game not released under a publisher. Within indie games, all genres are represented.
Agreed. The Switch's novelty and Super Mario Odyssey are gonna make it the top-selling system. However, I see Sony winning overall software sales, since they already have a well-established user base and have so many great hames coming out.
