Makes sense, the drawbacks outweigh the benefits. The XBox brand is a non-entity in Japan, so it wouldn't boost sales at all over there, and as great as the franchise has been doing lately, it's always been more of a cult favorite than a blockbuster franchise. As classic as the old soundtrack is, it's a product of its time, and the new soundtrack is more appropriate to the new game. It's much more atmospheric and uses the different channels better to create mood. Not only that, the old tracks are much shorter, so they can become repetitive. The tense track that plays when the zombies break through the door in the shed under the balcony becomes annoying REAL fast.
If you're using headphones, that THUMP THUMP THUMP of Mister X walking down the halls looking for you is MADDENING. In this game, he's scarier than Nemesis and even friggin' Pyramid Head. If they remake Nemesis to the leveo of this game, it'll be pants-pissingly terrifying, I really hope the rumors that they're working on that one are true.
Smash has been a once-a-generation series for Nintendo, and each entry has added a substantial amount of content. Same with Mario Kart. And Nintendo has never bombarded any of their games with lootboxes or microtransactions. Nintendo in no way, shape or form has ever been as predatory as EA, Konami or 2K. They're apples and oranges.

Sports gamers are a blight. In order to get their sports game fix, they're willing to let so much bullshit slide and support the worst game companies' worst habits. Konami, EA and 2K are straight up victmizing them with tons of microtransactions, loot boxes and no substantive improvements between iterations of the games, and yet they still make fucktons of money off them because sports gamers are the biggest sheep in the gaming community.
That I'm aware of, there haven't been any extensive gameplay trailers or showcases, and that review embargo being so close to release bodes badly. The new FarCry, Metro and Anthem release next month, too, so it's pretty a crowded release window.
They literally have the game half-done already, since RE3 shared so many assets with 2 anyway. And if Mister X looks awesome with a current-gen facelift, I can't imagine how incredibly badass Nemesis would look.
Sony could call it a "fur-covered toilet" for all I care, it's still the best exclusive games console, period. Microsoft might claim they're all about the games now, but the facts speak for themselves.
By the way, I'm watching NXT TakeOver from my "entertainment device" right now, so hey, it does that well too.

Both have their place and their shining examples. I'm right now playing Dragon's Dogma (for the fifth time!), Which is probably my favorite action RPG. As for turn-based, my series of choice will ALWAYS be Shin Megami Tensei.
To be honest, the technical aspects of the game are at most tertiary to the gameplay/narrative and the invetiable monetization plow. The game could run at 4K-120fps and it's still at risk of falling on its face with all the bullcrap EA will most likely pull and with the stifling/executive meddling on Bioware. I wouldn't be surprised if the failure of Anthem spells the end for Bioware.
Well, the game so far has Dragonball, Saint Seiya, JoJo, City Hunter and MUTHAFUCKING FIST OF THE NORTH STAR, so hey, so far they've been firing on all cylinders as far as Im concerned.

The rumor mill has been pointing hard at an RE3 remake, and it should be a snap to make. The engine's already made, as well as a big chunk of the game itself on account of sharing so many assets with RE2.
But jeez, if Mister X was scary, Nemesis would make me die by anal dehydration, lol.
