I bought the Orange Box on sale several months ago and am just getting around to playing it.Havent played a Half Life game since the original in the late 90's.
Definately see the influences passed on to L4D.
I understand everyones entitled to their opinions, but the whole L4D overrated thing baffles me.
I mean on this very site its listed on the homepage still as a top 10 game.
The reviews were very positive.
Its on the top 10 on Live.
Its still not bargain bin priced last I went to Best Buy.

Because the UK at one point was written off as a last place spot for the 360. Its newsworthy IMO that for half a year its even outsold the Wii let alone its more direct rival.
Now the PS3 has always outperformed the 360 in Japan. Was anyone surprised??
But with console numbers there being so weak across the board in Japan, its a hollow victory.
Yeah the VG chartz show the PS3 leads 360 by about 3 to 1.Of course were talking about only 3 million units to 1 million.
Even the Wii there is only about 8 million.
So its a victory,but looking at the rest of the charts nothing to brag about.
The PS3 is in a pickle pricewise IMO.
When they lower the price,MS and Nintendo will be easily able to lower theirs.
The 10 year plan is valid,but they cant hemmorage but so much marketshare to do it.
The economic downturn is a factor too.People go "bargain shopping" and Sony has not convinced enough people of the "value" of their system.
The replay value of L4D for me has been huge. I got Ghostbusters a few weeks ago. It cost 60 bucks and isnt near the same value IMO.
L4D was not designed as a linear game that you "beat" in 4.Going through the levels again is what its all about. Not having a preset number of enemies and a typical end of level boss battle is refreshing.
So odd that L4D was critically acclaimed untill the sequel was announced. Its still going to be supported. Team Fortress II still is.

Both of which generate revenue for Sony BTW. Thats where the money is.
I agree choices are ultimately better. The current market has shown that several different systems can make a decent living!
The early 80's had too many choices though.Consumers were overwelmed and didnt buy any of them.
The NES fixed that problem though.
I dont see how ANYONE can predict who will be where in the console wars 6 years from now. The 360 will be like the PS2 is now by then and a Xbox III or whatever will be available. Id wager even Sony would have somthing else on the market.
But Nintendo,Sony,or MS could be king then...Or even a new player to the field could be on top.
No one new in 94' that Sony would dominate the market less than 5 years later right?

I havent noticed any screen tearing or slowdown so far. Nice graphics!
The game did "lose" my first save when I went back to play it again later for some reason (but I was only about 20 minutes into the game).
The only major complaint i have is the soundtrack.The movies managed to have different,varying background music of one sort or another for 90 minutes or so.Why does the game feel like they are recycling only three parts or so from the first movie?

Yeah my sister in law lives a quarter mile away and has cable.
The worst part is every 6 months or so the cable co and phone co send me junk mail saying "its available to you now".
I have about 5 DSL modems so far now still in the box.
They dont seem to want them after calling you back to say "im sorry its still not available to you yet".
Yep..It sucks. Wont run cable down my street because "not enough people live on it yet". The phone co tells me there are too many "filters" in the phone lines near my house for DSL, but im close enough to a junction station or whatever to get it.
So im on a waiting list for either option....And im still waiting.
$70 a month for 1.3 Meg speed with latency from hell hurts.
My friend has Embarq 10 Meg DSL and it works great.
I think Live has somthing like that too.I only have a satelite connection at my house (expensive but beats dial up),so online gaming on Live is somthing I cant do.
But its amusing when I play it at my friends house.
