Didnt the existing "fat" ones go down in price immediately after the announcment? I personally wouldnt care about buying the "old" one over the slim assuming the HD and all was the same size.
This month should show some interesting hardware numbers. The 360 didnt get its price cut untill the 27th.
And I think more people were attracted to a $299.00 price tag than a "slimmer" model and that was available about half the month right?
The Sony commericals I see are all about "299.00" not "look at how sexy this new SKU is".
The new commerical is great BTW with the "Sony guy" in denying the lower price.Good advertising.

I dont know if im interested in playing "Wii like games", but I can see potential as far as voice recogniton while I play or maybe a certain gesture rather than fumble for which trigger to push...

Yes.His intial point on the console percentage headlines I thought was valid.But ranting over the "mere" 17% increase in software was stupid.Real stupid. Because he became the very spinner he accused others of being over the hardware percentage numbers, comparing them to a week of sales everyone knew would be slow .
17% more PS3 games sold that week means those new owners probably bought a game (or two) as well.

Well,the guy brought up a valid point.Last week (at this very site), there were articles showing the 360 outsold the PS3 in Japan and other places.Well the excuse then was "everyone knows a slim/lower price tag is coming thats why". And they were right.
But whats WRONG IMO is articles stating its had a 1000% increase in sales (to last week) when everyone knows WHY they were so poor then.

Yeah but think of the time it was released. A DVD drive was expensive for Sony in the PS2. Now go a few years back from that!
Its kind of funny though..What if it did? Would it have stolen PS2s thunder and be a common machine in living rooms? (up untill a few years ago of course).
