Thats a hard question to answer from this article. Im leaning towards no other than some unknown number of retailers there that didnt have enough to meet their demand.
The sales were strong still considering the previous one was launch + people who were just waiting and didnt buy the week(s) before etc.
I agree with Death that the coming weeks/months will be needed to acurately guage what were seeing.
Ill be the first to admit that either PS3 makes my 360 look like it should have "Fisher Price" stamped on it appearance wise.
But its a dumb reason to chose one console over the other IMO.
It has sold over 50 million and has had no price drop since launch in 06'. Alot of people already have one, so working on improving the games can get people to buy another besides endlessly playing Wii Fit or whatever.
I dont think a 50 buck drop to slow some recent sales bleeding is a bad idea.

I WOULD gladly pay it if my fastest internet option wasnt craptacular satelite internet...That only runs me 70 bucks a month (after I paid several hundred dollars for the modem and dish).

Agreed. I made the mistake of buying it for a console twice for the PS2 and 360. I believed a 360 review stating the controls worked well for it.

Well the article stated it was finished by May.That would mean its been debugged too for the most part right? Im sure there will still be some.All games do.Using the same Halo 3 engine probablly means debugging was fairly easy."Ready for shipment"...Means everything was DONE.

Well thats a strength for the 360 and its PC origins.Shared development costs.
I also think this will be a advantage in the future. MS COULD launch the next Xbox first. They could make it fully BC with the 360 and the new system would have plenty of games designed for the PC ready to easily port over.

Yes but features alone doesnt guarantee a consoles dominance. The 2600 and Wii are testiments to that and there have been others.
Its great the PS3 dropped in price. Im holding out for Twisted Metal before I make the jump myself. Why they dont have one out YET is beyond me.I'll just keep playing Twisted Metal II occasionally and Head On for my PSP in the meantime.

Well Blu Ray wasnt a consideration to me. The main reason is my HD satelite system with a DVR. Wonderful picture and sound. I dont even buy alot of DVDs nowdays, so why jump into a new format now? And my upconvert DVD does a good job freshening up my 10 yr old DVD collection.
Blu ray is cool, but I dont think its taken off as dramatically as the DVD overtook the VHS.
With these ever growing hard drives coming for these consoles,I see less advantages of "whose physical disc...
LOL.I was planning on getting my daughter a DS soon. And this game is a good excuse to "borrow" it.
I have no desire to own a Wii.That being said, their current total installed base is so large, Nintendo could afford to lose what? Half their future sales or maybe more over what they have done in the past...And STLL could claim victory this gen.
And they havent even brought out a price cut yet.

Yeah I think the PS2s abilty to be many peoples first DVD player did more damage to the Dreamcast over everything else. The PSone fanbase and backwards compatabilty just put more nails in the coffin.
Didnt happen this time though. I just read somewhere that the DVD still has about 87% of the movie market.

Wasnt the PS3 ranked higher on Amazon even when the 360 was selling in greater numbers? So how does pointing out selected retailers further discussion?
Gloating about PS3 dominance in Japan over the 360, is like showing off you won a 10 dollar Lottery scratch ticket. Its not a huge home console market there for anybody,and should be of no surprise the 360 is at a disadvantage anyway.
