Exploits ey? Like the ceiling glitch in Metro?
It's not like mods have ever lead to a decrease in exploits, right?
It's a poor excuse when Valve has been able to allow modding tools and doesn't have any serious exploits.
... and closed games like the recent CoD, or even BC2, had their fair share of exploits anyways. So, can't say I've really seen much of an improvement in that regard.
Only thing I have seen changed...
The thing with the initial scene in the trailer was that you actually have multiple teams (kind of like a free-for-all). The two soldiers on the ground were fighting each other, but guy on the plane stunned them both (so that neither of them kills the other), then killed them both. I guess he only really needed to stun one, but stunning the second guy might've allowed him to get a better shot.
The other stuff are unrealistic, but most multiplayer shooters don't concer...
woosh
Yea, it seemed odd for them to just close shop when they don't appear to be in any bad spot and are in the middle of quite a few projects.
Don't see how Origin or GFWL are all that bad when Valve is worse in terms of trying to monopolize the market.
GFWL just blows because it's so outdated and broken, but Origin ain't that bad.
As for consoles, I don't mind downloading primarily multiplayer games. (Like KZ3's MP). It's cheap, saves me the trouble of loading in the disc, and the thing inherently needs online anyways so all's good.
"a mix of Assassins creed with Uncharted on a Blade Runner set up"
That's considered generic?
So, the retail owners will decide to just not sell games/consoles if Sony/MS/Nintendo offer games for cheaper on their digital store? O.o
Seems like an odd thing to do as the retailers just lose out on customers. Market goes on supply and demand, and as long as there's a demand, someone will fill the vacuum.
Besides, you already have services like PS+ that are essentially offering games for 'free'. Retailers haven't done anything in response.....
Is that the setting that automatically downloads patches/updates?
If so, I'll have to disable it. Don't want to waste download cap space. =/
Although that would be odd because I don't think it has ever downloaded any game/demo automatically.
... but what about games like SystemShock, DeusEx, Thief, Bioshock, & Stalker? A game which lets you tell your own story rather than walk you along one.
The characters reacting to some scripted environment cue is cool and all, but bringing back some complexity and choice might be a better indication of growing up.
Otherwise, TF2 has already done a pretty good job of giving characters a personality.
Gimmicky controls usually happens at the start of a hardware's life but eventually fade back and take a smaller role later on.
Uncharted used motion controls for throwing nades or breaking free from the grasp of 'monsters' (which were a pain to figure out)... but they eventually brought back proper controls in the future installments.
I wouldn't be surprised if the WiiU sees a similar trend.
... however, I did like how MediaM...
Whoever has bought any game that uses steamworks is also supporting that behaviour.
EA is still better in that regards as Valve doesn't let any digital retailer sell digital versions of their games, while you can buy EA's games from GameFly (formerly D2D), GMG, GG, etc, even if they use origin.
Only major digital retailer that did have EA's games pulled was Steam, and that was because of Valve's own strict policies regarding DLC. Now that BF3 ...
They could never simply announce HL3.
It's like giving a writer less paper because you don't want them to get lazy with the editing.
... which is a cynical way of looking at things. Maybe they're not lazy, maybe they just want more room to express their vision in.
Sure, a few will use the newer hardware as a crutch, but there'll also be talented developers that'll use the new hardware to make things that aren't possible this gen.
Nope. If you're going to go prebuilt, you're likely looking at $500+ anyways
... unless if you intend to play on 640x480 at 20fps.
So I should've waited to buy the mercenary pack? =/
Motorstorm was never offered in the collection in the NA... or I never saw it being offered. It did show up for people in the EU.
A lot of games got a discount one week before the 12 games lineup was launched. Motorstorm was one of the games, but Infamous2 and JustCause2 were also on it, and those last two games did end up becoming 'free' for NA.
I know cause I bought Infamous2 and found it odd that they'd give PS+ members a discount, then just ma...
Capcom is pretty bad, can't think of any other bad jap publisher. Square doesn't see as bad considering that they were relatively benign with DeusEx DLC.
Western pubs/devs aren't any better; THQ went a bit bonkers with DLC for SaintsRow3 and DoW:Retribution.
... but by far what I hate the most is retailer specific DLC, which WB/Rocksteady do a lot of recently. =/
... but yea, I was considering pre-ordering SleepingDogs, but the DLC news ju...
... and motorstorm apocalypse.
Then again, I already own DeusEx and DS2 and didn't own GothamCityImpostors or WalkingDead, so can't say I'm too sad.
1. Brink had a nice system where there were command outposts that you can capture. Capturing them would give your team either more supplies, or more health. I liked the idea, and hope more games did something similar too.
The Antenna in Caspian is actually pretty important. The cliffs nearby give a straight vantage point to B, while a tank also spawns there which helps in raiding C and E.
(This would be on PC, not sure how important Antenna is on consoles)

Heh, I thought Origin was improving itself a bit with the recent update...
... then Valve released the new Community Beta.
