That doesn't work too well. You'll always get a few legit people that'll suffer those problems.

It's just the nature of the code.
Not sure if it'll affect someone like me, I often torrent a game I've already bought simply because the download speed is often faster.

It's been done too. GarrysMod and SeriousSam3 are two example I can think off the top of my head.
One case in particular I recall was a...

It's a shame because they did show some pretty interesting games in E3.

Their comments are a bit of an oddity considering that they've been trying to push uPlay recently, especially with the recent 1$ games like Hawx2 and Driver:SF.

I guess they need to listen to what Valve said about piracy being a service issue. You're given the tough task of competing against 'free', and bludgeoning paying customers with DRM isn't going to help you...

People breaching NDA is why we can't have nice things.

^ Demos are kinda needed on PC to know how well the game performs on your system. Yea, usually you can make an assumption, but there's always that one game that pops up ever now and then that is horribly unoptimized.

I don't think having demos will stop piracy, but it definitely will decrease numbers. (Not by 99.9% though =/)

It is a primarily online game, so it doesn't need story/character development.
Those two elements have nothing to do with technical know-how anyways.

If you think moding requires the author to not code anything, then you're only further displaying your ignorance on the subject.
Maybe you should follow your own advice, instead of telling someone to shutup when they have developed a successful mod that is about to become a standalone game.

"Publishers are a necessary evil that instill quality control."

Could've fooled me. Big publishers appear to be pissing in most good ideas rather than displaying any proper quality control.

Looking at kickstarter, it would seem that people are even more willing to give developers money directly, rather than involving publishers.

The only advantage publishers might give is advertising, which isn't as important when it comes t...

Yea, because DayZ is just another generic zombie mod. /s

Ignorance at its finest.

Which game on consoles has a comparably sized open world in which a decent number of players can simultaneously play online? O.o
I don't think the idea is impossible, but I can't think of any game on console that does that.

The Arma engine is a bloody mess though. Unoptimized, buggy and stiff animations. I'm surprised people are willing to put up with it to play DayZ.

A game having GOTY in the title just means it is a pack with all the additional DLC and whatnot. Doesn't mean much else aside from that.

DeadIsland and ArkhamCity both got GOTY editions too.

Open beta might be later.

They don't have to worry about selling their game because it is Free-to-Play anyways.
They do however need community feedback in order to make a good game, and that's what the closed beta does.

Closed beta has been going on for quite some time (since before E3)

I dunno, supposedly they're going to add them later as separately bought gear.

So you'll have to buy the gun and the silencer... but for now, no silencers/supressors.
AK trumps the M4 pretty much... might as well use the Famas.

I don't think changing the name of the enemy would've made MoH any more (or less) mature. It was mostly over the multiplayer too.
Yea, it was a silly thing that the media jumped on, but it also wasn't something that had any real affect on the game... and MoH wasn't really all that mature anyways.

The reason the recent wars are considered taboo is because they are still in progress. Doesn't prevent developers from still developing mature storylines ...

"What you see at the moment is that when people get older they stop playing games."

Someone remind me what the average age of gamers is?

.. and from what I've seen, usually, older people play simpler/casual games, simply because they don't have the time. TV/Internet/Movies are all relatively short in length compared to games.

It feels like more than what CZ was.

For one thing, they actually got the hitboxes right this time.
Modified recoil, lack of silencers, and modified tagging system have a pretty big impact on general gameplay.

Most of the game itself feels much different from CS:S.

Which God's gun are you talking about? All of the best all-around weapons are unlocked quickly.

Helis are easier to take down than BC2 as long as you have a good recon and engie. They're also consistent now, unlike BC2 heli's which would either be invincible (like in IslaInnocentes), or flying coffins (like in Atacama)

Haven't encountered any balance issues with Tanks. Two rockets to the back, or a few packs of C4. Javelin it if it is acting a...

That's how investors see it.

In reality, I'm not so sure.
They might lose out on DLC sales, but they'll also gain more purchases by people who are interested in the mods.
Some games like Stalker have improved vastly due to mods, and Arma2 got a massive boost of popularity from DayZ. Half-Life probably benefited from mods the most out of any game.

Bethesda's games are similarly bought by people because, while most know that ther...

^ Well, you must not be familiar with pre-existing sim racers like iRacing.

ProjectCars itself is highly community driven, so I'd figure it'll be succesful. I'm not expecting it to do GT5 numbers.

Interest is given to the visuals because the article is about screenshots, so obviously the talk will be about visuals.
