In an online race, have the other cars as "ghosts", allowing you to travel through them (as an option/setting for a race). Ofcourse you'll get some weird car-on-car action that looks unrealistic, but it'll all be pure racing. The one with the best lines wins.
Oh well, guess we'll just have to wait for what the online has in store.
