@toaster
Exactly what I was thinking.
Meh, people are quick to throw out claims when they've only played two or three racing game.
I'm fine with opinions, but when they try making it sound like a fact. =/
I enjoyed the old RidgeRacer and California Speed games. Most likely nostalgia that makes them seem appealing in my mind.
s.t.a.l.k.e.r. pack, yea! Be sure to check out the mods. =)
I also caught the L4D bundle for $10. Let's see how this weekend's sale fares.
There's two problems with your comment.
1. They didn't complain about it being a simulator, they praised it for the driving aspect. The complained about the other details which they found to be unpolished.
2. Nice job skipping titles. Bad Company 2 wasn't a direct sequel to Battlefield 1942.
It started a few trends in console FPS games.
Its popularity stems from that.
Its the Quake of consoles... or... something.
My understanding of it is that, GT5 does the simulation (i.e. driving) part, and does it well.
However, there's more to a racing game then just the driving. I think menus were mentioned as being cumbersome (reviewers opinion, not mine) which can be taken as one negative. There was also some criticism on the online.
The inconsistency of content (some tracks/cars looking better/worse than others) was also cited.
So the reviewer marked down a few asp...
"...but as a game it could and should have been a whole lot better."
@ Shadow Flare
Glad I'm not the only one who enjoys playing Black Ops.
=)
But the two-disc just means it was brimming with content!
Brimming, I say!
Brimming!!
Unacceptable? THIS IS sPORTED!!
... I'm sorry, I'll show myself out.
... I didn't know people took reviews so seriously.
I do find it interesting that people are thrashing a game because one (or many?) of the developers are pricks. Shouldn't you thrash the developer instead of the game? (or are they mutually linked?)
O.o
I mean, I hate kotick (he isn't a developper, I know), but I enjoy BlackOps.
The same way that I like my health, but I loathe the money-sucking doctors. =/
The getaway driver in GTA:ViceCity was named Hilary.
God he was a prick to race against.
Block Buster?
You crack me up buddy.
=)
I noticed it earlier while skimming through the IGN nominations for PC, there are plenty of decent games that for PC this year:
Stalker, Amnesia, Civ5, StarcraftII, WoW:Cataclysm, Minecraft, along with the major multiplats.
... and then there's a plethora of mods for so many different engines.
That and with multiple digital distributors competing with each other, you get ridiculous savings.
PC-Gaming's future doesn't look bleak to me. =)
I think this review got it right for the most part.
Zombie AI is a trademark of the series. =)
They drive around the track, don't know what else is expected from them.
Heavy Rain was a horror game...? Well, thats new.
Anyways, whats up with GT5 not being in there? O.o
I'm guessing theres something I missed.
Also wow, it was not a bad year for PC; CivV, Starcraft2, Amnesia and Stalker.
I wonder how Vietnam feels...
I can only imagine the smug grin that must be on Kotick's face right now.
That goes true for any game that gets patches, but why would reviews matter to begin with?
It's some guys opinion aimed at people who might not be hardcore ears-glued-to-the-intrawebz-ga mers.
It'd be pretty disappointing to never find a review for TF2. =/
If you follow gaming, then reviews don't really offer you much, aside from informing you of someone else's opinion.
As for the article, people are disappointed because the hy...
Yes, yes. Knowing that a console I bought has sold more units than some other competing manufacturer makes me happy.
Very happy indeed.
*writhes hands menacingly*
@visualb
It can be argued that all sequels are simply more content with a face-lift.
200-300 more premiums and 5-10 more tracks (or well, a few more tracks couldn't hurt) is more than enough to warrant a $60 tag.
Like all great artists, they use nature as inspiration.
:D
