Initial thought:
'Wow, Logic has a fairly decent agree/disagree ratio. I guess N4G isn't full of brainless drones'

Oh...
I'm not seeing any real 'argument' in Jaffe's comments. He's made an assumption that BF3 is getting attention only because of visuals, and then he scolds the media and gamers for praising the game. (Often times people make the same assumption about PS3 exclusives, 'oh, they...
You DO know what happens when a boat sinks right?
Giant Rats. Everywhere.
lvl 5 here as well.
You'll probably be sent an invite through e-mail (if you get picked as not all veterans are in the alpha) before it lets you through to the site.
I'm guessing this is done to ensure people don't just sell keys as they'd need the key + email/password.
... and this is why publishers don't like having betas.
... but why make a big deal about something that's been going on for ages?
Any time a highly anticipated game nears its release, you'll see 'GOTY' comments from the media. Not only that, but if he wanted to make a big deal about that trend, he should've picked a different game since there was a Bf3 demo at E3, was there not? The media got a chance to try it.
Even if no-one did play it, which game should've gotten Game of Show then? (Si...
I am kind of curious... what game does Jaffe think should've gotten Game of Show? (or well, any of those awards he's mentioned)
I get that he thinks that the whole tank mission wasn't exactly great, but I don't see him acknowledge the multiplayer part (which was also at E3, and what BF3 is mostly about anyways)
Beta starts august 25th.
@Kaiser
If you go through your steam account history (click on 'YourID's account' on top right of steam client)
does it list your version of MoH as standard or limited?
Well, I already got it pre-ordered ($28 for PC :D )
It has some hype, but nowadays, hype usually depends on how deep the publisher's pockets are as opposed to the actual quality of a game.
I suppose since InvisibleWar wasn't that great, some of its lustre is lost. Judging by the previews though, this definitely looks a lot more like the first game in terms of gameplay and design.
.... I shudder at the thought of what'll happen when said mom goes online.
Prepare for unforseen consequences...
BC2 is around 9 million if the player stats are to be believed. Perhaps a bit less since you can have multiple soldiers with the same key.
Homefront doesn't have the marketing to challenge CoD or BF... that, and the studio that made it doesn't have the necessary experience.
It still is possible for them to outsell BF/KZ if their next game had much more polish... possible, but unlikely in a genre that is already so saturated.
... Capcom and Nintendo?
Could've used more diversity.
I'd put the trader in from RE4... I consider him an enemy.
... why not Mr.Bean? O.o
Have Teddy as a killstreak.
"those aren't even gamers, and they never will be."
Why not?
This is the exact same attitude that some PC elitists have regarding consoles, i.e. claiming PC is hardcore and consoles gamers aren't real gamers because consoles are for casuals
... yet now we're going to do the same thing to iPad/Facebook gamers? O.o
Woe be upon whoever named that game 'Dwarfs?!'
It still startles me for a second whenever I read the name and realize that the game is actually called that instead of the person being just astonished.
Still beats Dejobaan's naming schemes.

I'm seeing GTA4's on that page.
Anyways, you're right that it is based on tastes.
It wasn't the zany game people were expecting it, but it still was a pretty good game and I think as far as attention to detail goes, no other game comes close.
Not exactly the worst game... but it probably showed the most promise of any game and failed to fully live up to it.
Perhaps calling it the 'most disappointing' would be better.
Am I the only one struggling at grasping what the point of this blog is? O.o
From what I can understand, it seems the author is angry at seeing PC articles on N4G (specifically those that downplay consoles) so he made a blog bashing a stereotype of a PC player (the one who cares only about graphics and cries incessantly about missing features)... and then called it a day?
I'm not sure what that was supposed to accomplish. It's just the typical straw-man routin...
I suppose it'll work for FPS and Racing games (or anything in which you are the character), but wouldn't really offer much beyond that.
Still, it would be cool to replace the ole' TV set-up with an in-your-face VR headset... but, am I the only one concerned on how it'll impact eyesight?
I can't exactly see myself using it for prolonged gaming sessions... or well, not for 'hardcore' gaming at least, but meh, we still don't know what the ...
... only by 15 minutes.
