... Recursive statement?
"Frame rate and all that stuff that makes the game look more pretty, doesn't make the game more enjoyable"
Please tell me that was sarcasm.
Frame-rate has a pretty big impact on how enjoyable a game is.
I'm not aware of any game that has been released thus far that requires Origin.
It hasn't been announced yet if BF3 will require Origin... the alpha does require Origin though.
... err, I think the title is a quote from a question from their mailbox.
The 'journalists' themselves did try to defend the point that creative/different games still exist, with their main reply being that money talks, and if you want to see less shooters, don't buy them.
Which is more or less what you're saying as well.
Did you read the article?
"i bet 5 years later when they reach late teens they will have no memories except for the swearing and feeling ripped off by the overpriced DLC's they spent their allowance money on"
... and they'll end it all by calling it the 'good old days'.
... Pepsi Ex Machina.
Brilliant.
*checks origin*
Bad Company 2 - $5.00
Bad Company 2: Vietnam - $5.00
SPEC-ACT KIT - $5.50
O.o?
Did anyone ever have a $600 console launch to begin with?
BF3 is no where near the Arma series...
If the alpha is anything to go by, it pretty much is a bigger version of MoH.
EA/DICE are clearly aiming for CoD's market, so it seems they consider the experiences to be comparable.
^ Yea, it isn't a universal problem... similar to how motion sickness isn't experienced by everyone.
When watching a 2D movie, it is easy to accept that what you're watching is just flat, but it becomes harder to realize that when watching something in 3D. So when the eye tries to look at the environment, they expect the distance to be greater.
Might be something that people get used to over time.
Most of that doesn't fall under 'artistic visual styles' does it?
^ Frame-rate in games is different from frame-rate in movies.
Movies utilize a fair amount of motion blurring to smooth frames (games are starting this too), and most importantly, movies don't require user input.
Higher frame-rate allows for a game to be more responsive, which has a pretty big influence on how the game plays.
I'd replace Revelations with DeusEx... November is already crowded as it is, might as well offload a game for August.
... That isn't exactly how our eyes see 3D, or rather it's an incomplete description.
The eyes also have to focus on an object. Here's a simple experiment:
- hold your finger up in front of you so that it lies between your face and the monitor
- focus on the monitor screen, and then alternate between closing eyes to compare what each eye is seeing (so open one eye, then close it and open the other eye)
- repeat the above steps but this time...
He wrote it like that specifically to piss you off.
=p
Did they just decide to ignore the 'long loading times' complaint?
He's just comparing it to give readers an idea of what the gameplay is like, and uses CoD as one form of comparison as a lot of people are familiar with what CoD is.
He also mentions Fallout and Killzone.
Who's opinion can you trust then?
(Aside from your own cause then you've already bought and played the game)
They also gave BlackOps a 64.
... what are we trying to prove again? =x
I'm pretty sure every review site has given scores that not everyone agrees with. One merely has to point to GTA4's score.
On average though, PCG has been reliable.
Though, they have been getting quite a few previews and hand-on of DeusEx HR (not to mention this early review), so perhaps there might be some greasing of the palm.
Some of those were odd choices which could've been replaced by more deserving titles such as CompanyOfHeroes, CounterStrike, Trackmania, RedOrchestra, KillingFloor, and ARMA (among others)
