lol at the whole situation that this glitch is being called an "acocolyps3". Oh the humanity!! It is the end of the world! ;-)
I couldn't log on for a day..the sky is falling, the sky is falling ;-)
oh well. Sh*t happens.
yes, you have to be mindful of installs with PS3 games. But on the other hand, Sony didn't restrict users from upgrading hard drives, and made it really simple. Because I used to be a PC gamer back in the day, being able to upgrade harddrives on the PS3 with standard SATA drives was one of the selling points to me. Running a 320 GB drive in mine, which has about 120GB of game data on it from the last two years of disc installs, & downloaded full games I've bought.
Fortunately with personal computers, it is easy to upgrade drives on them when new drive standards are introduced. I did a quick search, & see internal Blu Ray readers for as low as $65.00, and burners for $120.00 for PCs.
If the next Xbox comes out around 2015 like the article said, DVD will have been around for 18 years. The stores will probabaly have no more DVD movie titles on the shelf, and will only be Blu Ray. DVD will be very very tired if it is still in use on consumer electronic products in five more years.
Consumers decide what sells & what doesn't. There is a lot of room out there for both family oriented motion control games & FPS games where people can shoot zombies. If a developer decides to focus on the causal market instead of the more serious gaming market, then another developer will come in and exploit that opening in the market. The demand for the more serious games will always be there.
My point is that one person's great game is another person's "meh". Just like music or movies. The very best creative minds see something inspirational in all things, rather than get on a soapbox to dismiss other products. But hey, that's just my musician way of looking at things. I studied all kinds of music, and don't automatically categorize genres I don't care for as being less valid than what I do like. That is a less enlightened way to view things, and closes you off from lear...
I wonder why smart people like this don't have the ability to create new things as opposed to figuring out how to hack things other smart people created. I suppose they are one level down from the creators in this world. I think it is due to being limited creatively, similar to how a good "cover band" musician can learn other peoples songs, but can't write a good one themselves.
I'm not at all impressed by hackers. If you make something new & original, then I am ...
I think it is intersting that a company that rests their laurels on something as unoriginal as a zombie killing FPS is so overly critical of variety in the video game business.
Too many good reviews...guess I'm gonna have to buy this game.
It is impressive how the only pauses are brief new chapter introductions in that game...for only a few seconds. They have overcome that old fashion video game clumsiness when switching between cinematics & player control. The line between is invisible in this game, and often times I would be staring at the screen waiting for the load screen realizing "oh, I don't need to wait for anything. I have control of the character, and there is no load screen"
Jeez. Why link this useless twitterish stuff here?
Out of sight, out of mind, as they say. Don't really care about zombie shooting games on my PS3 anyhow.
lol, I checked this out just to see if there are any disagrees.
What part does one disagree with? DVD is not ancient technology, Game players don't like new technology, or that digitial only is not ready to completely replace discs right now?
If you disagree, come to the table with a response. Otherwise we just have to assume you are a fanboy that automatically disagrees to defend their little plastic box.
As a PS3 player, don't know & don't care if the wand is a failure. I am not interested in it. If I wanted to play motion control games, I would have bought a Wii years ago.
I don't understand why some argue on the side of DVD. 360 owners should want improvements to their platform, not argue against the need for it.
DVD is over 15 year old technology. Blu Ray is now the standard for optical disc. Whether you play on a Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo product, I would think that game players should be technically saavy enough to want whatever the better technology is available for the platform they use.
As far as download only being the ...
I notice this was one person saying "I heard a rumor" that started all this discussion. ;-)
dang, fan of gaming...that is good research. Using your statistics, one can assume a game ranked 7 on Edge is at least a solid 8 or better by most people's standards.
It seems that everyone & their brother has a game review website these days. You have to take a lot of these sites with a grain of salt, because they are here today, gone tomorrow basement projects created by enthusiasts as opposed to unbiased reviewers.
