Wipeout HD is probably my favorite game from the PSN store. It is such a beautiful psyechedlic techno music racing trip. I love it.
I only have a PS3, no 360, & have to say this game looks cool. I can't go with two consoles, because that is overkill for me...but I would buy both GT5 & this game too if it was on the PS3.
Tifa in HD in a new game? Im down for that. Boy, what a nerd I am for saying this ;-)
There is a lot of talk on both sides in blogs. Meanwhile these huge mega corporations do the things they do regardless of all the Internet fanboy talk. I really don't think massive companies that sell millions of electronic devices give any thought at all to fanboy bloggers that are just preaching to their own choirs. It is all just blah, blah, blah.
As a driving & motor sport enthusiast, I know it only takes a second or two of not paying attention to crash - even when not driving at fast speed, because of other idiots on the road. Someone turns in front of you, you are not paying attention, you are done. People need to think in terms of being a preofesional when driving. It is a priviledge, not a right, and that priviledge comes with heavy responsibilities.
It's all subjective, and in that respect utterly pointless to put out a list. I thought GTA 4 for example was everything it was hyped up to be, and one of my favorite games. I played it through three times, and loved every minute of it. Personal tastes my friends. No different than an individuals opinion of music, movies, or pizza toppings.
Funny how any criticism of a faulty product is seen as fanboy propaganda. Leave the emotions out of a technical discussion. I hate to break it to all of you, but my PS3 blu ray drive died after 18 months of use. I have to pay to get it fixed, I think that sucks ass for something less than two years old, and properly cared for.
Alot over my head, but it is still fascinating to hear the tech talk of why it is not so easy to have backwards compatability on the current PS3 versions. Nice write up.
Gamers these days talk too much. Shut up & play.
Funny stuff. In recent game Soul Calibur 4, players lose their armor (clothes) when damaged. Kinda embarrassing if someone walks in while you are playing the game as one of the babes while fighting in her undies. The body modelling in that game makes you go "whoa, not bad!"
The press don't care about anyone or don't hate anyone. They just often times go for the low hanging fruit - the easy juicy stories are those where you can kick someone (or company) while they're down, and project their demise to a titilated audience. You get more attention by throwing dirt than writing a bland story demonstrating how what is going on is just the normal ups & downs of business.
In complicated waveforms, which is just about anything in music and games, it is difficult to get huge file size savings in lossless audio. More of an incremental size saving, than a big change. It would be so much easier to just not compress, since there already is common drive platform that can handle all the data - blu ray. It is no longer a new technology. It is fairly commonplace now.
What is the point of damage some people ask?
What happens when cars hit each other, I ask. Does GT series not boast they are "The Real Driving Simulator"? They should have damage, and have some ramifications in the race if cars are too aggressive, and smacking into each other. That should apply to AI as well. And while there at it, I hope they don;t make this like previous games where you can predict the exact same thing from the AI cars in every race...they take the...
When it comes to technology moving forward, it makes little sense to debate why it is not needed. More storage on discs has already been proven to be useful with some games, and with finally getting movies (especially the audio) to match the capability of our TV sets & surround sound systems. It is simply a matter of keeping pace, and utilizing the next gen technology that is available.
Lossy compression, ala MP3 in audio is very noticable if you have decent ears & sou...
A company like Rockstar is not going to do anything that would violate any legal agreements with a company like Microsoft. So if they do eventually put out this DLC for the Playstation, it will be done without vilating any agreements they may have had with Microsoft...agreements that no one on blogs seems to know anything about, but just speculate on. I hardly doubt Microsoft will be pissed if Rockstar has the rights to now put out this DLC out now on the PS3 for a game that is well stocked i...
As I start checking around the web, reading game site articles, forums, & blogs, one thing starts to become apparant to me...
People spend way too much time these days analyzing & arguing over the ups & downs of these little boxes we play games on, instead of just enjoying playing games. There are lots of cool games on the horizon for both 360 & PS3. It is going to be all good for both 360 & PS3 owners this fall & winter. Sweet.
disc swapping, lol. That reminds me of the old days. Microsoft needs to get with the times, and move beyond DVD drives. That is ancient technology these days. Software is getting bigger. Hard drives are huge these days. Disc drives shouldn't be a limitation when there is a better current technology available...ahem..cough...blu ray.
I loved GTA IV, playing it through completely 3 times. I would have been excited about this anouncement if it was back when the game was still fresh, but with video games time keeps on marching forwward. I have played so many good games since I last touched GTA IV, that I really don't care about DLC for it anymore. Ancient history imo.
I find this quote very telling from the author of this blog...
"Also, based on several game reviews I have read, the PS3 often suffers graphical glitches in its games that Microsoft's Xbox 360 simply does not."
Anyone who knows his stuff knows that some early ports to PS3 from titles of the other platforms were not done very well, but is not a wide sweeping issue, and not at all a platform hardware problem.
This dude is basing his though...
I can't wait for this game. It is probabaly not going to be ejected from my PS3 for months after I buy it.
