So so stupid EA. Just when we thought you're getting your act together, you had to go and pull a pathetic stunt like this. Just like restricting a whole multiplayer mode from purchases other than Gamestop pre-orders. I guess the old EA never actually disappeared. *sigh*
He's right about one thing though. EA Sports does suck. Take a look at their PC sport titles. All of them are crappy ports from the PS2(yes, that's right, PS2) version. And they're the masters of the franchise-milking technique.
Funny. The whole time I read that I could only picture IW/Activision.
This is one of the many reasons why I love gaming on the PC. I remember going nuts about the silenced Dragunov sniper rifle mod for Fallout 3. That was so cool. Mods FTW.
Actually, I can divide my love for games into two main genres -
1. Shooters - Whether FPS or TPS, I love all shooters with a little bit of tactical edge to them.
2. Role-Playing - I don't think there's any RPG I've played that I didn't like. Simply put, RPGs are my thing.
Battlefield 3, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising 2 and a new Rainbow Six game will be quite enough for me.
"How do you kill, that which has no life?" Classic.
On Topic - *BARF*
Exactly. If the future of RPG games has very little RPG elements and an almost linear story/gameplay, then true RPG games are doomed.
This partly reminds me of how recent COD games destroyed(or rather, n00bized) the FPS genre. I don't want that happening to the RPG genre as well.
As much fun as ME2 was, it's barely an RPG and definitely NOT something the other games in the RPG domain should copy.
Definitely deserves support from us. Coming from a small dev, it's such a good series. I remember being blown away by the perfect balance between FPS-RPG elements in the first game back in 2007.
And I'm so glad they haven't gone multiplat, unlike some other ex-PC exclusive devs.... *cough*Crytek*cough*
I refuse to acknowledge any list that includes Far Cry 2 and Street Fighter 4 but then not including Warcraft 3.
Like it or not Warcraft 3 was BIG on the PC, and if you don't put it in any top 100 PC game of all time list(unless it's your personal favorite 100), you're insane.
Right you are. The first game came out in 2007, but was originally planned for 2005 before it got delayed. I wonder how things would have turned out if it was released in 2005 without many of the glitches.
Anyway, the second game didn't really do it for me. I played it through for the story's sake. It somehow lost the charm of the first game, but I'm not sure where, when and how.
Still, I'm hyped for the third game. I hope we get to see some major changes from the se...
Didn't you say something similar last year with Dragon Age?
Edit - I love Mass Effect 2 as well....just so you know.
Yes it is. Not until Bad Company 2, God Of War 3, Starcraft 2, etc. Too many potentially amazing games yet to be released to make a decision this early.
In other words, "We're gonna simplify the gameplay so that the millions of n00bs with cash out there will buy it."
At least Ion Storm kept the spirit of the Thief series alive in Deadly Shadows.
Bad Company 2 for me. Day 1 purchase. Time to stick it up IW's rear.
Why shouldn't they? It's a multi-billion dollar industry. I think it's at least partly justified. People get mugged for a lot less y'know. :P
Oh, so to stop PC "famers" from pirating their games, devs made multiplayer mode restrictions for the console versions but not the PC version? What kind of r-tarded assumption is that? They must be 5th class dev rejects with a collective IQ of 10 to come up with that kind of a 'solution'.
As much as I support DICE and want their game to be critically & commercially successful, I'm afraid that if that happens the old EA might re-surface and we'd end up getting the short end of the deal again.
By your logic almost every game can be labeled as 'creepy'. Fake guys made by guys for guys to play with.....CREEEEEPY!!!!
Although it's a great game, Mass Effect 2 is hardly an RPG. STALKER has much more RPG elements, and before you disagree with me check it out first, it's a PC exclusive though.
Fallout 3 and Oblivion are both great RPGs as well. Mass Effect 1 & 2 are both great action shooters indeed, but with very little RPG elements to be truly categorized under that genre.
