And I kindly disagree. I think both Halo 1 and Resistance 1 however, had better campaigns than their respective sequels.
A solid if wholey generic shooter, released at the launch of a system where there isn't much competition, and garnered a solid fanbase. The game has a somewhat by the book campaign but addictive multiplayer that makes it shine.

I think the DLC missed its prime window for release to really matter. Personally, I feel GTA4 was a let down in most gameplay respects, despite stepping forward in many technical aspects. It lacked the dark charm, humor, and replayability of past GTAs, especially San Andreas with its wealth of totally random sh1t to do.

You want the system to force 4:3 games into 16:9? That's not much better, I'd rather have the original aspect ratio. Though the OPTION would be nice.
You know the wide option we currently have is designed to be used in conjunction with games that supporte 16:9 on the PS2, correct? Such as FFXII.

There is more to it than just "scores." If you actually read the reviews, it's rather obvious. Sure, everyone has their preference, but some level of objectivity and professionalism is expected.

It sounds like the problems aren't only technical, but pretty much in every facet of the game. That would be some major tweaks.
Considering its a U3 engine game as well, and SE has little to no experience with it, I'm betting the PS3 edition is going to suffer HEAVILY.

Disappointing to say the least. I too feel they have "lost their edge." The fact that we have seen NO gameplay footage of FFXIII as they d1ck around with these other titles worries me. Their insistence on rehashing titles instead of innovating on handhelds can also be seen as a major lack of direction and confidence.
Still, I think we've seen some very strong JRPGs in the past 2 years... yet they are on the PS2 of all places. Next gen has some good entries in Lost Odyss...

Yes, the 360 is doing very well. Better than anyone expected in Japan, due to smart business moves and bundles. I commend them for that. But FOR EDGE to label it a turnaround would be a free pass. The 360 still needs to prove it can sustain such interest as was said. Will they? I guess we will find out, won't we? They very well could, which would be great for competition!

Regardless of how good Gears 2 is... which is pretty damn awesome btw... this review does nothing but gush over the good parts and ignore the negatives. Weird. Doesn't really help me as a consumer.

I have never seen a company push a firmware update so hard. The features are nice, but I hear more about NXE than I hear about Fable 2. Wtf?
On a different note, I hope this generation is longer. Gaming is becoming a more expensive hobby, and I'd like to see the 360 and the PS3 last a little longer than last gen's typical turn around time. I think both the 360 and the PS3 have some nicely untapped potential for developers, which should lead to amazing titles for all.
