@ Chanto - I realize a balance is needed, and you need to stay in business. Either stores need to start giving more $ and stop raping customers, or they need to cut the devs in on some profits.
@ God - Yeah. This site is truly sad. I love the concept, it gathers news. But all I see lately is fanboys pissing in each other's cereal, and the mods do nothing. Pretty damn pathetic. I don't know what's worse, that they aren't modded, or that this is what "gamers" have become......
Thank you Fig. You give me hope that there are intelligent people here worth discussing things with.
This preoccupation with sales = quality just saddens me. For 4 generations I played games without so much as a mention of sales numbers. Mario Bros, Super Mario World, Warhawk, Goldeneye, God of War... I just played games and talked about playing games. And now all people care about is sales.
What the sh1t happened man?
They do. Used games are 100% profit to Gamestop. It's disgusting. You're right, you can't stop them, but you can get the devs in on it, which is only right.
Personally... I'll RENT a game if I'm only going to need a week with it.
Why buy a game, then waste $40 when you trade it in for $20 or less?
The irony is...
N4G is not the world, thank god.
What is said by fanboys on N4G doesn't affect the market in the slightest.
No on cares what N4G has to say.
Your "victory" is on a website where fanboys have pissing matches. Go you, you winner!
Excuse me while I get a laugh in now.
I'm anxious for this game after the somewhat cookie cutter DMC4.
Hahah, give you $20 for a used game? Have you been to a Gamestop lately? Most are sub $20. Then they turn around and sell it for upwards of $54.99. MvC2 for PS2 is sold by them for upwards of $80.
No offense, but as long as people use this convenience as a reason to get financially raped, Gamestop will keep on raping you.
I refuse to sell back any of my games via those stores. Period.
It's also amusingly pathetic that THIS is the kind of topic people SH...
No Jill... personal opinion doesn't matter. ONLY SALES MATTER! ONLY YTD SALES! SKUS! ATTACH RATIOS! PROFIT MARGINS! That's ALL that matters in gaming today, where have you been? Fun? FUN? HAH! Fun doesn't make you a gamer, being an armchair analyst does!
Remember, Halo 3 IS THE BEST GAME EVAR! Fact!
Also, Lord of the Rings is now proven better then Star Wars!
And Titanic? If you don't like it, you're a fool, because its a fact that it is now the GREATEST...
Your first mistake was listening to fanboys.
Your second mistake was listening to fanboys.
You rang Omega? Am I just on your mind?
Hey Square, remember when you made GOOD games? Yeah... lets try that!
*yawn*
I don't need to read ANY of these responses, I already know who is posting and what is being said. Predictable.
GG armchair analysts!
*yawn*
So many doom and gloom articles... shouldn't fanboys be playing with their Jaspers now?
BluRay is a format. Yes you can store more, but that doesn't equate to longer games or better graphics instantly. That comes from development time, money, and talent.
@ Gerard...
I try to be only a semi ass when I see a silly argument. ;-) In all seriousness, I just don't think movies will catch on as downloadable content in the same manner as music because of differences in size, quality, and special features. Also, the fear of having all your movies stolen or wiped out due to one drive failure is a big one, and with services being sticklers for things like that (one DL then you're done!) I just think there are many obstacles in the way of it...
Very true. Hopefully trends like this will spur on all companies to not sit on their asses because they "own" one region.
LOL Gerard.
So the format with superior quality that owns 12% of the market will fail to digital downloads, the format that is missing special features among other things, and has less than 1% of the market?
Nice logic. Sure, DD will take over, all we need is...
- People to ditch wanting physical formats
- Cheap, 1 terabyte + storage that can conveniently be taken from home to home
- Improved methods of downloading said movies
- Better ...
Oh I grabbed Wall-E, and I can't wait for Advent Children. I'm a little worried about the Dark Knight aspect shifts being mandatory for the Imax filmed bits, but I heard it works great... gah just a few more days!
Since Transformers, I have purchased 16 BDs... and Dark Knight is next.
I hate being a videophile.
Then why, pray tell, are they holding back the US PS3 release until the 360 edition is done, if the 360 is sure to sell?
I'm still trying to make sense of that, and all I can find is moneyhats!
